It did not mean that she could always rely on Yan Beicheng though. She had to at least try to be independent.

Lu Weining perhaps had done everything to get Yan Beicheng, but everything Lu Weining had done was declare war on her.

In Lin Chu's point of view, this was a war between women. Before, Yan Beicheng used to solve everything for her, but it could no longer stay this way.

In the beginning, she had no connections of her own. Now that she had been working in Lin Yi for a long time, and was on good terms with her colleagues, also as she helped her clients in solving their issues, she was able to meet people of different professions. Even if the relationsh.i.p.s would not be considered as deep by any means, she would at least be able to find someone that could help her in her affairs, as compared to being utterly unfamiliar with her own surroundings and unable to get help. 

As for Lu Weining's matters, Lin Chu no longer hoped for Yan Beicheng to intervene. 

The man Lu Weining was l.u.s.ting after was her man, in that case, she should have been the one stepping forward and handling Lu Weining. Lin Chu gave it some thought and realized that perhaps she had been relying upon Yan Beicheng this whole time. That was why Lu Weining looked down on her and a.s.sumed she could not do anything on her own. Hence, she continued to fearlessly hara.s.s her continuously. 

Moreover, Yan Beicheng had lots of things to handle and since she was not able to help him out, she could only make sure that he would not have to always worry about her. She should be able to handle these matters and should start learning how to. Not that she needed to a.s.sume complete personal responsibility, but she should at least be able to solve these things on her own. 

After giving it some thought, Lin Chu dialed a number and called it.

The call rang a couple of times before Lu Weining picked up.

She looked at the phone screen, and could not believe her own eyes.

Before this, she had sent text messages to Lin Chu and after sending a few, she could not send them out anymore. She could type them out, but it could not be delivered. Afterward, she tried giving Lin Chu a call and there was still no response, she then knew that she had been blocked.

She would have never thought Lin Chu would personally give her a call.

When she thought about what happened tonight, Lu Weining sneered. Was Lin Chu calling to question her?

Lin Chu had no other abilities, all she did was depend on Yan Beicheng to make a living anyway. Tonight, looking at the responses online, she did not expect that the situation would be reversed in Lin Chu's favor.

When Lu Weining saw it at that time, she was p.i.s.sed out of her head, and immediately believed that Yan Beicheng had intervened to help Lin Chu.

Other than getting help from Yan Beicheng, what else could Lin Chu possibly do!

When met with the slightest inconvenience she would hide behind Yan Beicheng's back, letting Yan Beicheng work himself to death just to s.h.i.+eld her. She then would live comfortably, and could not do anything for herself. Yan Beicheng was someone that handled the big affairs, was all matters in the company already not enough for him? He still needed to settle these trivial matters for Lin Chu!

Hence, when she said that Lin Chu was constantly holding him back, these words were not wrong!

Lu Weining was not thinking about the fact that these troubles were actually caused by her. If she had not started it, Yan Beicheng would not have been distracted with these trivial matters at all, yet all she did was blame Lin Chu for everything.

Lu Weining picked up the phone with a tense expression, the voice that came out of her, however, was nonchalant. "Lin Chu? How unusual, you'd actually give me a call."

"You know why I'm calling you," Lin Chu said in a cold tone.

Lu Weining sneered, hearing Lin Chu's ice-cold voice that seemed like she was angry at her made her mood became unexpectedly better. She scoffed and continued, "How would I know why you've called?"

Lin Chu scoffed once, and replied in disdain, "Lu Weining, stop pretending. You're not talking to Beicheng now, you're talking to me. What's the point in acting innocent?"

"Lin Chu, what kind of c.r.a.p are you saying. If you're calling me just to say nonsense, I'm going to hang up. That gentle, good-tempered look that you usually wear in front of people is completely pointless in front of me. Yet n.o.body believed me when I tell them, on the contrary, they'd even say that I'm accusing you falsely. You're really good at scheming!" Lin Chu said as she used a tone that seemed as if she had been persecuted, it made Lin Chu felt sick to the utmost extent. 

"My temper's never been good, and I've never hidden it. It's not just you, Beicheng knows it, your brother knows it as well." Lin Chu mocked her.

"What do you mean?" Lu Weining was stunned for a while, as she still had not heard about the incident where Lin Chu had beat Lu Zhenghang up. 

Lin Chu aimed for his body instead of his face, so only Lu Zhenghang's body hurt. Only he would know the pain he felt. 

"About today's matter, stop playing dumb with me. I know you did it. If you want to provoke me then just aim for me alone, why are you dragging others in as well?" Lin Chu was blunt with her. 

Lu Weining still pretended as if Lin Chu was making a fuss about nothing. "What matters, what happened tonight? Don't keep pus.h.i.+ng everything that happened to you on me. I'm not pleasing in your eyes, could it be that's why you're trying to falsely accuse me?" 

Lin Chu frowned, she was lazy to continue listening to Lu Weining's act. She merely said, "I don't care whether or not you admit to it, even if it's your doing, or that I really did falsely accused you. I'll just take it as if you're the one that did it, if you feel that I actually am falsely accusing you then you'll just have to bear with it. Since you've been slandering me quite a lot anyway, haven't you?"

"Lin Chu, be clear when you're speaking. When have I ever slandered you! The things I've said before, and all those media reports. Which one of them is not the truth?" Lu Weining said in a stern voice.

"I'm not talking nonsense with you," Lin Chu said impatiently, Lu Weining, in any case, was a young lady from an influential family of money and riches. She did this type of disgusting acts all the time in secrecy, so there was no point in talking to her. "I'm just letting you know, just aim your provocation towards me alone and stop dragging others in. If you have the guts to use these schemes to go after me, then you should have the guts to admit to it as well. Don't let a person that came from nothing such as myself that's unable to compete with your n.o.bility to have the chance to scold you. You are a rich young lady from an influential family yet you exhaust yourself doing these low-grade affairs, and when you're done you even not dare to admit to it."

"What are you saying! What gives you the right!" Lu Weining stood up from the sofa she was sitting on filled with rage, wanting to smash something.

"You're right, even a person such as myself by right shouldn't be scolding you right now. How glorious could the things you be doing possibly be? I came from nothing, and I don't have any great family prestige such as yours. But, I do things openly and candidly, I've never gone out of my way to harm anyone, and I've never tried to be a mistress or hara.s.s other people's men. What's supposed to be mine would stay with me, what's not mine I won't take. On the basis of the things you'd done, do you actually feel superior?" Lin Chu's voice was cold and harsh, but she was able to maintain her calm. This demeanor of hers when compared to Lu Weining's, was much more elegant. 

"What's so amazing about you then, you're constantly hiding behind a man! Whenever there's trouble you'll hide behind Yan Beicheng while you're being useless, what's the difference between you and a leech!" Lu Weining was infuriated after Lin Chu's criticism, it made her seem as if she was worthless. 

"You're right, but my man happily lets me rely on him. He said it before, as long as it's a matter regarding me he wouldn't find it troublesome." Lin Chu's mouth twitched, saying everything that could p.i.s.s Lu Weining off. Lu Weining's body was too healthy, if she were able to p.i.s.s Lu Weining off to death, then it would be fantastic. "Moreover, you're relying on your family as well, aren't you? If you didn't come from money, would you be this arrogant and dare to do these things? Don't talk to me as if you're that amazing."

"If you're so capable stop asking for Yan Beicheng to help you!" Lu Weining shrieked. 

That brain of hers started to get somewhat muddled from being infuriated. 

Lin Chu held her laughter back and raised her eyebrows as she continued, "Sure, then if you're that capable, stop depending on the Lu Family."

"You! My surname's Lu, I'm born with these privileges, why shouldn't I use them!" Lu Weining cried while grinding her teeth.

"According to what you've said, Yan Beicheng is my husband and this is my advantage then. My husband's so capable, why can't I rely on him? If he doesn't let me rely on him, who else would it be? If I don't rely upon him, won't it be a waste?" Lin Chu said simply.

She then heard a sound of gla.s.s shattering in the background, she then knew that Lu Weining was smas.h.i.+ng something.

The purpose of her call was not to go around in circles and never get anywhere with Lu Weining, and said, "It's possible for me to not seek for Beicheng's help, I'm just letting you know that even without Beicheng's help, it's impossible even if you wanted to go after me."

Lu Weining paused for a while and listened to Lin Chu, "But if you just have to hara.s.s someone, then target me alone, stop using those despicable methods against innocent people. If you don't find me pleasing to your eyes and want to attack me then fine, I'll deal with your schemes. But if you drag others in just so that you could attack me, then I'll ask for Beicheng to intervene. Lu Weining, you don't want him to hate you any further, don't you? For today's matter, I hadn't told him yet. Otherwise, you know how he'd react. He's not going to come at you directly, he'll come for Xing Chuang instead. If I were you, I'd agree to my conditions."

Lu Weining clenched her teeth tightly, her jaws almost bent to the side and gritted her teeth as she replied, "Fine, I'll agree."

Lin Chu hung up the phone with satisfaction. Asking Lu Weining to not depend on the Lu Family was just a fantasy story. Lu Weining would never agree to that, she just wanted to take the opportunity to infuriate Lu Weining. Her brains were unable to comprehend anymore when angry that she would agree to her conditions.

Although she distrusted Lu Weining's character, she believed the threats she made would be effective. 

Once Lu Weining hung up the phone, after calming down she then realized, why did she agree to her conditions!

Lin Chu then returned to the bedroom with her phone, Yan Beicheng had taken his shower and was comfortably sitting on the bed. When he saw her coming in, he looked up and extended his hand towards her and smiled. "Where did you go? When I came out you were gone."

He held onto immense pa.s.sion wanting to give his wife a hug when he came out, yet he only saw an empty bed.

"I went out to handle a few things." Lin Chu smiled, as she put her hands on Yan Beicheng's, letting him pull her into his arms.

"Why are you being mysterious to me?" Yan Beicheng raised his eyebrows as he asked, then lowered his head and gave a kiss on the corner of her eyes.

"Nothing mysterious!" Lin Chu giggled as she opened her Weibo, and because it was not refreshed, the content stayed the same as the one she saw just now. 

Yan Beicheng's expression turned dark, he then asked in a deep tone without hesitation. "Is it Lu Weining again?"

Although Yan Beicheng was young, Lin Chu saw him being in a rage all the time. She was afraid that he would ruin his body at a young age due to him constantly being angry. 

Gently trailing his chest with her fingers, her movements getting fairly smooth. Yan Beicheng was unable to get upset now, he sat back and enjoyed the feeling of her velvety hands tickling his chest, and proceeded to raise his hand to grab onto hers. Placing her hand near his lips for a kiss.

"There's no need for you to worry, I've settled it. I gave Yuntong a call just now, we both contacted some studios that have been working together with us for a long time and have already reversed the public opinion," Lin Chu said with a smile.

Looking at her smiling in contentment, Yan Beicheng then gave her lips a peck. "You've become so capable now, my heart feels a bit empty. Last time when something came up, I'd be the one helping you out. You just need to stay in my embrace in comfort, how nice was that. Now, I'm longer of use to you."

"What are you saying, I'll need to toughen up too, right? If every single one of my matters were settled by you, I'll look down on myself. The things I've said this afternoon, isn't it self-contradicting? Since I'm able to say it, then I have to do it. I can't just merely say good words. Moreover, I don't want to be similar to a thoughtless little bird in a cage that doesn't know anything. You're constantly telling me to not regard you as an outsider, but actually, I'm not regarding you like one, I just feel sorry and I don't want to tire you out. You're already tiring yourself out with a lot of other things, plus these trifling matters. I undoubtedly have the ability to settle them on my own, why would I constantly push them unto you?"

Yan Beicheng held Lin Chu's hand and squeezed them from time to time. "If you want to solve them yourself it'll be up to you, but you should know that I'm always happy to help."

Lin Chu smiled, the hand he was not holding was wrapped around his waist, and proceeded to lean her chin on his chest.

"Husband and wife are supposed to take care of each other, not one party blindly giving and the other party blinding receiving. As far as I know, such a marriage wouldn't last long. Please don't deny it, granted that you're even willing to devote yourself unconditionally, I still can't bear to watch you suffer. Lu Weining's coming after you, as your wife I need to protect my own husband and not let another woman have their way. Otherwise, others would think that I'm easy to bully. You need to give me something to handle as well!"

"Alright, I can't beat you in terms of speaking anyway." Yan Beicheng pinched her lips. "You're worthy to be working in public relations, such an exceptional eloquence."

Lin Chu began to grin. "I gave Lu Weining a call just now."

She told Yan Beicheng everything she had said to Lu Weining. "Just in case she's a sore loser, and once again bullies the innocent, then you'll have to take her out for me."

"No worries, that's a given." Yan Beicheng then pinched her nose.

Lin Chu wrinkled her nose, why did this man love to touch her face so much. 

"I told her just now that I didn't inform you of this matter. You're the one that guessed correctly this time, I'm a woman of my word." Lin Chu continued, her voice was soft and lovely. No mattered how one listened to her, it just sounded like she was acting coquettishly and was s.h.i.+fting the blame.

"Why are you keeping your promises with her. Next time if she had any more lousy schemes, you'd need to let me know. If it's not a big deal, I won't do anything, unless you ask me to." Yan Beicheng said, "Otherwise, I will have no idea what's going on, and I won't feel good about it."

Lin Chu then nodded and promised him with not even a bit of remorse, there was really no need to keep such promises with someone like Lu Weining.

If she was not afraid of Yan Beicheng, Lu Weining would not have kept her promise either anyway.

The next day, the two went and visited the orphanage, after checking on the orphanage and seeing everything was fine, they then went to the Family Mansion for lunch. They then went to Sheng Town in the afternoon. 

Lin Chu had let Yan Beicheng fetch her over to the apartment building area, he himself then went to Yan Huaian's. She went to the downstairs of Xu Moyan and Zheng Yuntong's house and pressed the doorbell. 

The chime rang for a short while, she then heard the sound of the door opening and Zheng Yuntong making a ruckus. "Lin Chu, quickly! Come in!"

Lin Chu smiled as she opened the door, she went in and took the elevator to the fifth floor. Zheng Yuntong and Xu Moyan had already opened up the door to wait for her by the entrance. 

Lin Chu entered the door and was still taking her shoes off when Zheng Yuntong was already unable to wait and urging her to hurry. "Hurry up, I need to show you something."

Lin Chu, "..."

Yesterday Yan Ningbai said the same words to her.

Lin Chu suddenly had a bad premonition. She changed into slippers and went into the living room, Zheng Yuntong and Xu Moyan then sandwiched her in the middle from left and right. 

Zheng Yuntong took her mobile phone and showed Lin Chu a snippet of a video. It was of Lu Weining being scolded by a woman with her child at the entrance of the hospital that day, she was recorded by pa.s.serbys. 

Although the person recording did not have a high hit count as the person yesterday, the whole process was not pixelated.

Lin Chu did not know what had happened at the hospital that day, but looking at the entrance of the hospital, it was the hospital where Xu Jiaojiao stayed on that day.

"This video is from more than half a month ago," Zheng Yuntong said.

Lin Chu then was able to connect the dots, Dai Huimin did mention that she b.u.mped into Lu Weining that day at the hospital. Obviously, Lu Weining was doing again another unkind and dishonest affair and was scolded by others because of it. Unfortunately, she was captured on video.

The lady in the video was right, convenience to others was also convenience to ourselves.

She was not being convenient to others, as such retribution followed suit.

"This video was not widespread on the Internet just yet. It was sent to me by my friend. I looked to him for help last night, as he has a very wide network of contacts in this area, and he's a private detective. I then had the foresight to ask him to help me investigate Lu Weining's recent movements, and he was able to look up this video." Zheng Yuntong explained.
