Chapter 34.3: Phoenix Song Palace

A black robed man was crouched down on one knee before Xuanyuan Lie. This man was the leader of the Tiger Guards, Yu Ying.

"You said that Prince Zhan in now in the Vermillion Bird Kingdom?"

Hearing that question, Yu Ying immediately replied: "Yes Your Majesty. Your subordinate received news that Prince Zhan appeared in the Vermillion Bird Capital City and….."

"Spit it out." Xuanyuan Lie ordered with his brows furrowed together.

"And was seen to be on intimate terms with the Vermillion Bird Kingdom's Crown Princess."

Yu Ying bolstered up his courage and went ahead to finish his report.

A glint of incomprehension flashed in Xuanyuan Lie's eyes.

[How did Little Mo come to be acquainted with the Vermillion Bird Kingdom's Crown Princess, and was even on intimate terms with her.]

Thinking about that, Xuanyuan Lie broke into a bout of cold sweat.

"Yes Your Majesty, your order shall be carried out."

Having received his orders, Yu Ying disappeared from the Imperial Study.

The next day, Duanmu Xue brought Duanmu Xi and the others to come to the Phoenix Song Palace.

"Little Xi, this is the Phoenix Song Palace."

Duanmu Xi looked at the Phoenix Song Palace that did not seem to be any different from the other palaces, unable to see what was so special about the place except for the robust scent of sandalwood incense.

Xuanyuan Mo looked at Duanmu Xi and said: "Little Xi, I will accompany you."

"Young Master Xuanyuan isn't allowed to go in."

Duanmu Xi had just been about to agree when she was interrupted by Duanmu Xue.

Duanmu Xi and Xuanyuan Mo knitted up the brows at the same time.

"The Phoenix Song Palace is the place where the Imperial Duanmu Family wors.h.i.+p and pray to their ancestors and the family rules state that only women from the Duanmu Family are allowed inside. It is forbidden for any man to set foot inside, where even Little Xi's father is no exception to that rule as well." Duanmu Xue continued to explain.

"….." Duanmu Xi was a little speechless towards the Duanmu Family's strange rules.

However, Xuanyuan Mo went on to nod his head slightly. As a Prince of the White Tiger Kingdom, he fully understood the significance of the place used or ancestral wors.h.i.+p.

"Then Snowy can just wait for me back in the palace."

[Since that's what the rules say, then she would have to go inside herself.]

"Alright."

Xuanyuan Mo nodded again, as he watched Duanmu Xi walk inside the Phoenix Song Palace.

Unknown to the two of them, that parting split them for a whole three years.
