20 Exploring The Ancient Magus Tower Part 2

I touch the cold perfect round crystal and try to sync with it. The coldness reminds me of a cold iron grip that usually placed above a balcony wall.

"Knowledge crystal? From what I know from the gloomy Magus's knowledge, knowledge crystal is a way that Magus used to store and pa.s.sed an important knowledge to their disciple." My eyes shone from the content that might reside at the inside of the knowledge crystal.

"Unfortunately, without someone that could wield mana helping someone that didn't. It is impossible to access the knowledge inside the crystal." I said in disappointment of the fact.

Then, I continue my scanning on the miscellaneous items at the table. There were all kinds of items, magic stones, strange parchment, ink and quill, and a book that seems to be a diary.

"A diary book? Interesting.. Now that I think about it, it should have been more than a millennium that books were stored here but why haven't they deteriorated at all?" I begin questioning the strange thing.

As the translation effect was still active, I begin reading the inside of the book. The content inside was very obscure and a lot of the inside was torn up either accidentally or intentionally.

"The heck? Just what is going on here? The one that writes this must have gone insane!" My face wrinkled with confusion as I flip the book until the very end, and there was one statement that bothers me a lot.

'No matter who that finds this book, no matter what, don't you even think to open the lower floor!! What that monster? the mighty me don't care anymore!'

"Yeah, he must be insane but what really causes the mighty owner of the Magus Tower to become insane, to begin with? I mean his path as a Magus is probably at the stages very high in the sky! At least a Great Magus or even above it." I start having a cold sweat contemplating the cause that makes a Magus insane.

In this world, Magus has a high mental capacity and has a very intelligent brain. For them to be insane is a very serious matter that couldn't be caused by something normal.

As I couldn't think anything much with this obscure clue, I decided to cast that aside for now and continue my search in the room.

An hour pa.s.sed in the blink of an eye, I begin to pace back and forth in frustration, as I couldn't find anything suspicious that indicate the lead to the third floor.

"This is weird… except for the wall at the back were carved strangely, the 'a.s.sistance Drone Robot' also didn't find anything." My face begins to show a worry expression as I thought hard to find a 'key'.

This is the first time that something couldn't be detected by technology, making me realize the strangeness of magic and this world more and more.

As I keep pondering, I remember a hole above the carving table on the first floor that seems to be about the same size as the knowledge crystal.

'That couldn't be, right? I mean why would a knowledge crystal be a key?' I thought suspiciously for the strangeness of what is inside my mind but then I decided to try it as there wasn't anything else I could do.

Then, I went back to the stair that lead to the first floor and used the sacrificed robot below to be used as the bait again for the trap while of course bringing the knowledge crystal with me.

As I get down to the first floor, I noticed that the half-spherical hole was indeed the same size as the crystal ball. Then, with a little trembling hand, I placed the knowledge crystal on it hesitatingly but decided to do it anyway.

'Weng'

A light began to appear from the carve above the table and spread from it to the line at the floor before the carving at the wall and finally the whole tower.

"What's happening?" I started having a cold sweat all over my body from the sudden light that appears from the cause of my action.

Just then, a strange sound was heard from above as if a door or some kind was open.

"Must be a path that leads to the topmost floor of the tower!" I said confidently as I going back to the second floor.

Of course, the poor robot was used one more time as a bait. I'm feeling kind of bad doing that again but whatever.

As I got to the second floor, I see my robots lining up at the side and giving way to the wall at the back that were previously carved strangely.

I was surprised that the wall didn't open as I thought it was but some kind of word that resembles Ancient Language that I see in the book was written at the wall.

I ordered Vonix to translate it and the language that was written strangely before change into a Common Language I know. There I read the word,

'I am perfect, impossible, permanent, and guaranteed. What am I?'

"Is this some kind of riddle? Huh.. Something that perfect, impossible, permanent, and guaranteed, is that even exist?" I begin to go into deep reflection of what this might mean.

"Nothing in this world was perfect while also anything was possible if there is a will. As for permanent? Not even the universe is eternal, something that begins will always come to an end eventually. Nothing to be said about guaranteed though as there were way too many variables to think." My hand was holding my chin as I almost find the answer.

"Then the answer is obvious, it is nothing!" I said full of confident for my answer.

But as wait for a few dozens of seconds, nothing happened to the wall.

'Did the answer wrong? Ah… I forgot to translate it.' Then, the 'a.s.sistance Drone Robot' came and translate my answer in front of the wall.

Just as it got translated, there was a sudden sound of the wall moving and the wall in front got separated as it makes a gap that got wider and wider.

There I see a staff of some kind that shape kinda like a key tip on top and a tub like a rod that extends downward as it got smaller.

"Magic Equipment? An equipment grade that only a Magus powerhouse or above might have!" My eyes were sparkling by the beauty of the thing I just see.

In this world, there is two grade of magic items that I know: the first one being known as Magic Tool, a kind of tool that only had a slight amount of magic on them and usually an Apprentice Magus had them, though very… very rarely a Knight might have them.

The second one is a Magic Equipment, a piece of equipment that was made by an Alchemist that branch on Magic Equipment making. Magic Equipment was also divided into low-grade quality, middle-grade quality, and high-grade quality.

It seems that Alchemist had many branches and the one that usually makes potion was called a Potion Master instead of simply Alchemist. The key tip shaped staff seems to be a Magic Equipment but it was unknown what grade it might be.

As my eyes still glued to the staff, some strange faint light was being emitted in the surrounding. Then, I realize that it was the staff that was quite dim as if out of energy to power it up.

"Hundreds of years or even more than a millennia had pa.s.sed, for it to have a full of its power is simply impossible." I shake my head as I approach the staff.

Then, I notice that there is also a big rotary stair encircling the staff that was in the middle.

"This must be the stair that leads to the topmost floor of the tower!" I said in confident as I take the staff and the robots with me to go upstairs.

As I ascend the stair at the back of the robots, I found out that there wasn't any kind of trap or anomaly like the one on the first stair.

Then, I reach the topmost floor of the tower and see that the room was a little bit smaller than the one below. There was some kind of a white-colored energy pool that feels weird when touched.

The was also an ice tube-like object inside a tube-shaped pod at the edge of the room. I gaze at it in more detail and realize an anomaly on it. It was as if a flickering of shadow of something was seen inside of it.

"Weird, even with my enchanted vision, I couldn't see what is inside the block of ice as if something was blocking it," I vacillate in confusion of the peculiarity of the pod.

"Vonix, could you scan what is inside with the 'a.s.sistance Drone Robot'?" I asked as I approach the pod to see it closer.

["Affirmative, Scanning Initiate…. Scanning Completed…. From the data gathered, it seems to be some kind of cryogenic pod? Thought it used magic as the subst.i.tute for cooling effect instead of nitrogen, oxygen, neon, hydrogen, and helium liquids that Earth human does to freeze a body]" A monotone voice answered unperturbed.

"So, you mean there is someone inside this pod? Is it the Ancient Magus of the tower? No, that's impossible, the diary said that he killed himself to keep some secret." My face frown in solicitude of someone possibly being inside.

["Indeed, though not clear. The scanner picks up a weak sign of life inside the pod"] Vonix added in confirmation.

"Then, what are we waiting for? The question will be answered when the pod was unfrozen!" I slap my head impatiently.

"But the question is, how could I bring the pod out of this place? I mean it's big and also not mentioning that it was inside a magic gla.s.s pod. One wrong step and it might kill the one inside without having enough time to revive him/her." My head and stomach hurt from overthinking way too much recently.

"Anyway, as long as I could bring it to the base, Vonix definitely had a technology to revive someone being frozen and were in a state of a suspended animation even if he or she had been at that state for more than a millennia."

Then, as I was pondering the way to achieve the impossible. I suddenly thought of a brilliant idea.

"Why not just make a hole from the rooftop and used the 'troop transport helicopter' to bring it to the base swiftly?" My face smiled in pride for my brilliant idea.

After finding the solution, I call the 'troop transport helicopter' to come and instruct the robots to start making a hole on the roof. Of course, the robots except the 'a.s.sistance Drone Robot' would cut it from outside since the room was too tall, to begin with.

Not long after, I was speechless by how hard the roof was, even with advanced laser cutting the roof, it takes ten minutes to just cut a small part of it.

As I got impatient on waiting, I decided to explore the Magus Tower more thoroughly. I came back to the entrance floor to see any kind of lead to the floor below.

An hour later, I abandon my initial intention since I absolutely didn't find any lead to the floor below, and I feel a bad premonition from the diary that I got before.

"I guess I will come back to this Ancient Magus Tower when I had become a real Magus at the very least since I feel that exploring further will be very dangerous." My expression became resolute as I decided to end my exploration of the tower.

After all, as a 2nd Rank Apprentice Knight if Alex were to encounter a monster that had the power higher than an official knight then all of the robot armies could be wiped out, and he is killed at the side without knowing how he died.

Then, I ordered the robots to take all of the valuables that had been found including the knowledge crystal that had been attached to the table and left the Magus Tower with the 'troop transport helicopters' back to the base. Of course, the excavation of the rooftop had been completed and the pod was carried with a wire attached to a few helicopters.

My face smiled in satisfaction from the gain I got at the exploration, as I travel back home to the base.
