12 The Golden Distric

He looked at the barren hill with dejected expression, there was nothing to be excited here. Did he got played by the kind-looking woman after all? He even paid for the carriage to take him to this place as it was quite far from the city center to walk by foot. Afterwards, he need to climb the hill from the spot where the carriage dropped him off.

"Oh? It's rare to have a visitor to this place." A soft voice rang in the air which made Harith to turn around and saw a white figure standing not far behind him. Look like this gentle and beautiful young lady had also just arrived at that place.

He was stunned for a while as he did not expect to meet such graceful lady at that place. He had a feeling that this young lady also might have been tricked to come to this place.

Eithne chuckled at the bewildered expression of the youth in front of her. Glancing slightly at the bright red hair, she then stared at his face.

"Does this young sir want to take a walk in this garden also?" she asked.

Harith sobered up and unconsciously straightened his body. He coughed as he nodded in hesitation.

"Then, this lady hope that this young sir will not be bothered by this lady's presence."

"My name is Harith, please just call me by my name," Harith scratched his nose, this kind of polite conversation never amused him.

Eithne smiled at the youth's straightforwardness. She bent her body slightly.

"Then, Harith. My name is Eithne."

Looking at the young lady in front of him, he knew that she was a few years older than him because she gave this older sister aura, like how he felt with his big brothers.

"Eithne... Big sister Eithne?" he subconsciously muttered the words, making Eithne raised her brow. Then Harith realised that this form is too intimate, and even though she did not introduced her family name, but he perceived that this young lady came from the n.o.ble family judging from her appearances. Even though he is a royal, but at that time he did not disclosed the fact. So that fact that a random boy was calling someone from a n.o.ble family as 'big sister' without her permission could be an insult for some.

"Ah.. sorry, I didn't mean to..." he did not finished his words when Eithne laughed. Harith sighed in his heart, even her unconstrained laughter was graceful.

"Then, shall this big sister accompany you to walk in the garden?" Eithne said after laughing for a while.

Harith nodded before he even processed her question in his mind. At that time, he realised another person's presence, it was a good looking man with dark blue clothing. Judging from his stance, he might be this big sister's guard. Harith did not realise that he already regarded Eithne as big sister in his heart. It was strange for him to feel some connection with this young lady on their first meeting, but he did not dwell to much on it and proceeded to follow the big sister to walk into the lifeless garden.

"You must be wondering why this place is called the Golden District," Eithne said as she walked slowly towards the metal tower. Harith nodded.

Eithne stared at the tower in front of her, and a melancholic look flashed by her eyes.

"Do you know? The new capital city of Aur is big, because all these district was considered as part of the capital city. Last time, the capital city of Aur only includes the area from the city center until the Royal palace," Eithne did not satisfy the youth's curiosity but casually changed the topic as she strolled through the small pathway between the flowers.

"But after the new king ascend the throne, he decreed that all the neighbouring district around the capital as part of the capital city," she continued.

"Ah, that's why that prime minister big brother said that 3 days won't be enough to explore the capital!" Harith remembered what Abel said before.

'Prime minister big brother?' Eithne wondered for a while at that strange t.i.tle before she remembered that it was Abel who welcomed the envoy from Liiv today.

"Prime minister big brother?" even though Eithne knew who he was referring to, she still asked this question.

"Oh, I met the prime minister of Aur when we arrived here..." his voice trailed off as he realised he said something that exposed his ident.i.ty.

"So you've met Abel, that means you're part of the envoy from Liiv who arrived today?" Eithne smiled.

"Eh?" Harith was slow in processing her words. "Is big sister close with the prime minister of Aur?"

"Well, you could say we're very familiar to each other," Eithne said, amused by the youth's expression.

"... Familiar to each other..." Harith mumbled. Suddenly he gasped. "Is big sister his fiancee?"

Eithne was stunned for a moment at the unexpected train of thought of the youth before she laughed again.

"Oh, no. That would be impossible," she chuckled. "He is my cousin from my father's side."

Harith made a surprise face. He might be an ignorant, carefree prince, but he always hang out in the palace whenever the higher up discussed about confidential information from the spies, so he could say he knew a lot of confidential information about other kingdom. Now, he actually just learned a new information that they never get from their spies!

Eithne sighed internally at the easy-to-read face of the youth in front of her. Her eyes subconsciously stayed again at the bright red hair of the youth before she slowly retracted her unfathomable gaze.

At that time the yellow ball of the sun unexpectedly already turned into a hues of orange, the blue sky earlier had became tinted with pink blush, and the shadow of the tower was stretched towards them.

"Remember you asked why this place is called the Golden District?" Eithne's voice was as soft as the evening breeze that caressed their face.

Harith looked up to see the white figure in front of him and realised that she was not looking at him but towards the sea of flowers around them.

"Look."

Harith moved his eyes to his surroundings to find a breathtaking view he never saw before in his life. The dull looking pale flowers he saw just then were glistening with golden hues, all of them were in full blossom, the petals were plump, it was as if they were full of vitality. It was as if he was standing among thousands of gold. But the difference is, these golds felt alive, and fresh. At that time his heart was thumping loudly, It was a feeling he never felt before.

He never saw such golden flower in his life, and he never visit other kingdoms, but he believed this kind of flower only exists in Aur alone.

He remembered the word the woman said to him, that this Golden District was the only place in the whole continent where magic still exist.

Touching his chin subconsciously, Harith pondered. The word 'magic' was not relevant in the present society. He believed not only in Liiv, but in the whole continent. He had heard that there was these people who was called as a 'mage' from the mouth of the older generation when he has a small child, and he even found this word in some of the literature he read at the royal library, but the existence of these people were absolutely unthinkable in the present society. If these 'mage' do exist, Harith would surely wanted to meet one.

"A place where magic still exist..." Harith mumbled quietly but it was heard by Eithne.

Eithne turned her body against the youth, and stared at the setting sun far at the horizon, the colour of the sunset was reflected in her eyes. Yes, it might be the only place in the whole Western Everole, or perhaps in the whole continent where magic do still exist, but this magic, until when will it stay? If forever does exist, she wish it would stay forever.

Kyle who had been silent for the whole time stole a glance at the white figure, his fingers subconsciously formed a fist.
