Chapter 51: Army Alliance

As Alex was exploring further, he came across a disturbance. He could sense a group of people, who were fighting. As if to accompany the disturbance, Alex heard a loud roar.

Alex was curious and made his way diverging from the path to enter the trees. When he crossed the outgrowth, he found that an entire platoon of twenty or so people dressed in military outfits were attacking a large four footed green monster with a gigantic flower on its back.

The group was being led by a woman with golden blonde hair, who looked extremely beautiful in the military uniform. She seemed to be in her early twenties and aggressively ordered her minions to fight against the monster while throwing expletives.

Alex observed the scene. He could sense that the woman leader was clearly much stronger than himself, potentially a peak card apprentice, while the others were all card initiates who were being trained by here. This could be clearly understood by her not attacking the monster at all, but verbally guiding her juniors to attack the monster.

Alex quietly watched as the group of twenty gradually managed to overpower and eventually kill the monster and then sigh in relief. The blonde woman then turned her piercing eyes towards Alex.

"Who are you? Why are you observing us?" She asked.

Alex shrugged. "I am just a solo explorer. I found something interesting so I came here to watch."

The girl smiled as if looking at a toy. "It seems like we provided you with some good entertainment? So where is the payment?"

Alex shrugged again. "I am a poor solo explorer who just entered the Card dimension a month back. I don't have anything to pay with."

The blonde woman laughed. "Nothing much, you can fight with my soldiers one at a time. Get a good beating in their hands, that will be a good enough payment."

Alex was surprised. "Soldiers? I didn't realize the army was in the Highland shelter. I didn't find any signs of the army at the shelter."

The blonde girl raised an eye. "Seems like you weren't lying about being a newbie. We are the Army Alliance, the representatives of the Earth's Military forces in the Card Dimension. The Army Alliance is the strongest force in the Highland Shelter, we don't need a headquarters within the shelter as one can only join the Army Alliance by joining the military."

Then she pointed her finger at Alex. "A newbie exploring so deep into the shelter alone and coming out harmless? You will be a good practice target for my troops!"

Alex agreed. He didn't mind thras.h.i.+ng a few people himself and flex his muscles. Besides, if these people were from the military, then he could see how good his military boxing was against these people.

Alex then kept his bag under a tree and entered the open area, motioning for the soldiers to come.

Soon a soldier who was eager to impress the blonde leader jumped out and came to fight against Alex.

Alex stopped him, then looked at the blonde leader. "What are the rules?"

The blonde leader put her hand to her chin. "No rules. Just don't kill each other or injure each other too badly." She shrugged.

Alex nodded. For soldiers, one of the requirements for them to join the Army Alliance was to be at least be an initiate and have a battle card.

Soldier one immediately activated his battle card, which was haste and made him faster. Alex did not even bother activating his card. Just the pa.s.sive Energy Affinity was enough to see through all his movements and he already realized that his opponent was using the haste card.

The battle began and soldier one rushed towards Alex, eagerly throwing a powerful punch. This was Basic Military Boxing. Alex observed the move and was surprised. The punch, if it could even be deemed that, had so many flaws that Alex's face turned ugly. He quickly used his left palm to slap the incoming punch at a weird angle and easily deflected the punch away without even using any force. He then sent a quick kick and blasted away his opponent like a ragdoll. Soldier 1 had lost just like that.

Alex looked disgusted. "Such a disgraceful fist can also be called a part of Military Boxing?" He asked aloud in bewilderment.

Alex's lazy slapping away of the soldier's powerful punch shocked the other soldiers, but when they heard what he spoke next, they were infuriated.

When the blonde woman heard Alex's words she too was infuriated, but unfortunately she too agreed with his sentiment. That was a really pathetic punch.

Another soldier jumped out and activated his water fortification card, once again trying to best Alex, however, he too was blasted away within a blink of an eye.

Alex put his hand up. "Enough! I don't wish to deal with this pathetic style anymore. How can you b.a.s.t.a.r.dize the most fundamental punch in military boxing like this? I will fight only one more match, send the strongest person in your group, otherwise don't waste my time." Alex said with an ugly look on his face.

Since he began training, his only point of reference for military boxing was Old Ren and when the blonde woman hyped up the Army Alliance, he was hopeful of gaining some further insight. However, he was deeply disappointed.

The blonde woman also had an ugly look on her face at Alex's comments, but she was also inwardly shocked at his performance. She had seen that he had only used the basic fist of military boxing and without any cards, quickly defeated the soldiers. She knew that her subordinates weren't a match for this mysterious individual.

These recruits were all new initiates, so their poor skill was not unexpected. Infact she had brought them out precisely to train them. But she couldn't let this man insult the Military in this way. She finally spoke up. "You fight with me, but we will not use any cards, just fight using basic military boxing. What do you say?"

Alex finally smiled. After the first battle he had immediately realized the quality of the subordinates and he purposely riled them up to bait this woman to fight him. For him, pressure was the best way to grow and this woman... she had a lot of pressure. Alex immediately agreed.
