Chapter 49: Skeleton In The Shrubs

As Alex went deeper into the shrubbery, he felt the shrubs growing to almost human heights. Alex had slaughtered a lot of poisonous objects and looking at his burgeoning bag with objects he sighed.

"The biggest issue in the Card dimension is not the hunting, it is the transportation of objects." He ruminated.

As Alex went deeper, he found it increasingly difficult to identify his relative position. In such a situation where the shrubs covered everything and objects were camouflaged, his Energy Affinity was an eternally useful card.

At this moment, he sensed the group he had met earlier seemed to be following him. He had a curious look in his eyes. How exactly were they able to follow him through this shrubbery?

Alex continued to walk forward, until he abruptly stopped. In front of him, he could sense a condensation of energy of an attribute he could not identify. The color of the energy seemed to be blue, but the energy was actually not fluid but formed bubbles. From the way the energy was condensed, Alex figured that it was actually a sword.

Alex carefully crossed the shrubs in front of him amd surprisingly came to a clearing hidden within the human sized shrubs. At the center o the shrubs was a tree and lying below it was a skeleton wearing no clothes. In front of the skeleton a sword had pierced deep into the ground.

Alex had sensed the energy from the sword. The skeleton had clearly died. On the tree's trunk, Alex could clearly see markings in a language he didn't understand. Alex also looked at the skeleton. The skeleton didn't seem to be human either.

The skeleton was humanoid, but the formation of the skull was very different. There appeared to be some kind of bone spurs on the skull, forming an uneven mountain unlike the smooth skulls of humans. There were similar modifications and much thicker than ordinary bones on the shoulders and knees.

Alex couldn't read the message, but he decided to note down its contents as well as the physiology of the skeleton. In this world, any information was potentially money and money meant having the ability to trade for special items.

He was still cautious and didn't dare to touch the skeleton or the sword, because his intuition kept feeding him a sense of danger. He was also confused. This place was only a few days away from the Highland shelter which belonged to earth.

This skeleton looked like it did not belong to a human, so was it a humanoid species that lived within the card dimension or was it an alien species, a compet.i.tor to humans? Either of the possibilities had deep implications.

At that moment, the group lead by Bull had finally arrived at the clearing as well, following Alex. When they arrived in front of Alex, the tracking card finally disintegrated.

Alex wasn't too surprised. "How did you follow me?" He asked a little coldly

Blondy smiled. "We used a single use rank 2 tracking card."

Alex raised his eye. "Tracking card? I must find out how such a card can be nullified when I return." He thought to himself.

Meanwhile, Burly laughed. "Didn't I tell you Bull? Following this boy will lead us to a treasure. Hahaha."

Bull was indeed looking at the skeleton and the sword with noticeable glee and excitement. "This is a major discovery! It looks like an Alien skeleton!"

The group from the Frigate guild quickly surrounded the discovery, ignoring Alex who was standing a distance away. Alex might be somewhat savvy, but he wasn't a match for their group in their eyes.

"This sword must be a great treasure of this Alien! Let us quickly take it and the skeleton, and leave!" Bull laughed.

Alex felt a threat from the skeleton and the sword. He also had other doubts. The skeleton seemed to be considerably dusty, which meant it had not been lying here for a short time. How could it be that something so major, relatively close to the Highland Shelter hadn't been discovered?

Thus, he decided to wait and watch from a distance. As he saw the rabid excitement of the group from the Frigate Guild, Alex quietly stepped backwards, going to the edge of the clearing and away from the tree.

Meanwhile, Bull rushed to the sword and grabbed the sword's handle, attempting to pull it out. However, no matter what he did, he was unable to pull it out. The sword was stuck into the ground. The other members saw that and joined him to help. The group of five people collectively tugged at the sword to pull it out, and it slightly budged a few millimeters but beyond that, there was no movement.

Bull looked at the sword in shock. But then he thought of something and activated two of his rank 2 active cards and the other members also activated their cards.

Alex observed as the bodies of the individuals turned visibly stronger and the old man Bull even had his veins swell up and green blood flowing through them could be visible. Alex, whose Energy Affinity was always activated, immediately identified what was going on.

"Life attribute, this is the attribute with the most numner of card users who specialize in strengthening the body." Alex nodded inwardly.

After amping up, the five then began tugging at the sword again amd this time the sword began coming out. Bull laughed. "Good! It is coming out!"

Gradually, he completely tugged out the sword amd laughed with accomplishment. Bull, who was holding onto the sword thrusted the sword into the air in a display of accomplishment, but the action seems to have triggered something into the sword, because it began glowing a terrifying blue color.

Alex, who was sensing the sword's energy was still unable to identify the energy attribute. "It feels like water, but why is the energy in the form of bubbles?"
