Chapter 44: Return

The man looked at the flower closely. His eyes glowed as he gently picked it up and a.s.sessed it.

"This flower has a terrifying amount of energy of the water attribute. It is a previously unknown special item. Are you willing to sell us the information about this object as well?" He asked.

Alex shook his head. "I will trade the information directly with the Knowledge Tower."

The Old man nodded. This was indeed a rational decision to make. "I will offer you 20,000 points. This is a fair price."

Alex nodded. His basis for the price was the price of the lotus seeds he purchased from the Card Frontier. Comparing the energies of the two objects, he surmised that this seemed to be good enough.

The old man collected the flower and Alex's account was credited with 20,089 points. Alex thanked him for the trade and walked towards the teleportation station to return back to Earth. Alex was planning to head to the Knowledge Tower next.

At the Adventure House, the burly man and the blonde student were stunned. The young man had calmly punched with terrifying strength and then went and sold a terrifying treasure to the Adventure House. They were struck dumb when they thought of their previous unsolicited advise they offered to the mysterious young man.

Back on Earth, Alex appeared from the other side of the portal and sighed at the feeling of being back. However, he had a wistful emotion on his face when he realized he wasn't really back on his own Earth. He sighed and travelled back to the dojo.

When he arrived at the smiling dojo, he found the door closed. Surprised, he looked around and then saw a small kid run up to him.

"Are you Alex uncle?" The small boy asked.

"...Yes." Alex said after some thought as he wondered if he was already old enough to be called an uncle now.

"The grandfather in this building left a letter for you." The small boy handed Alex a letter and then ran away to his home.

Alex opened the letter and found a pair of keys and a letter from the old man.

"Kid, now that I have trained you, I know you will be able to live well on your own. After seeing you work hard, I decided to enter the Third Card Dimension amd try my own luck. Use this dojo as your own home, the keys are in the envelope."

Alex sighed. He opened the doors of the dojo and entered. He decided to clean the dojo and after that he rested. He took a look at the news as well as his chats.

The news didn't say much, but he presumed the ordinary news was censored and he didn't find anything out of the ordinary. He checked his chat and found some messages from Lily.

From the chats he learned that Lily had joined the Star University and that university had just begun a day ago. Alex sent her a congratulatory message.

Alex took the time to enter the VR capsule. He entered Card Frontier and played a PvP match. Your Dad is a Noob was a relatively famous player now and immediately his match had an audience. However, Alex made quick work of his opponent and then entered the 1 card trial tower. He had cleared 20 trials before this. Today he entered the tower and his streak began to rise fairly rapidly. With the creation of two rank 1 cards, his physical strength had increased tremendously and the month in the Card Dimension had helped him hone his battle intent.

In a couple of hours he defeated the 30th trial and an announcement rang through the Frontier Region. This was the first time a person had cleared the 30th stage undefeated in their first attempt.

Alex quit the tower and went offline, but the furor from the announcement as well as his sudden blitzkrieg blew up on the forums.

"Why Your Dad is a Noob is a top Genius!" by Master of Ducks had once again rushed to the top spot of the news forums.

Meanwhile, Alex made his way to a tall spire at the center of the city. This was a branch of the Knowledge Tower a society that traded information of all kinds.

Alex entered and registered an account with the Knowledge Tower using 100 adventure credits. He went to a terminal where an AI asked him what his needs were.

"I wish to sell information." Alex replied. He then proceeded to give all the information about the mysterious water flower, the cave, the crystals as well as describing the complex energy flow with drawings as well as the tactic used to defeat and extract the flower. He also provided information about it being a mutant beast and provided a 1 time use card Water Spike.

The AI acknowledged the information and after fifteen minutes of processing, replied.

"For this information, you will be provided a deposit of 500 points, after the information has been verified, a further 1000 points will be sent to your account in one day."

Alex nodded. He wasn't too sure how much 1500 points were, but he had read that the knowledge tower was impartial and did not cheat members.

Alex then proceeded to investigate why different users could use the level one cards to different degrees of power and proficiency. He found several pieces of information about this matter after spending around 200 points, which told him that the information he had earlier provided was not small.

What he learned opened a new world to him. With this information, he learned why the lotus seeds he had absorbed had actually become dots on his light attribute card and he also learned the different reasons that affected an active card's performance. While a Rank 1 card was limited in power, increasing the performance to the limit could even threaten a rank 2 or even beginner rank 3 card users in extraordinary situations.
