49 The Return To Little Vicious Village

"Here lies Rachel, the finest, kindest woman you'll ever meet and her twins, a boy and a girl."

Her real name was Hannah, but the only name she gave Leo was Rachel. Leo couldn't help but wonder if she wanted to start a new life with a new name, maybe with him. Leo suggested this to Solomon when they were making the tombstone, and Solomon said, "You're not so bad. Are you kid? Alright. The dead have no say in these matters anyway."

And so, they engraved the name Rachel on her tombstone, to symbolize her hopes for the future.

'But life's a funny thing,' Leo thought to himself, 'What was I thinking getting engaged to another girl named Rachel? Was it guilt? Or was I too attached to the idea of "Rachel"'

Leo was attached. "Rachel" was the first person to show him kindness ever since he was forced to kill for Brimstone. Rachel... he surely did feel some guilt, but he was also attracted to the beauty of Rachel, the daughter of Deborah. But he also felt obligated to reciprocate her feelings for him. He had lied about his real name to Hannah. She lied for a new future, but Leo deceived her out of fear.

He didn't know how he was supposed to reciprocate Hannah's hopes, and he didn't know how he was supposed to reciprocate Rachel's love without thinking about the first "Rachel" he had met, Hannah.

'Was it the right decision to engrave her name as Rachel?' Leo thought while he stared up into the heavens.

He didn't receive an answer.

He said, "I guess I already know the answer..."

Leo walked towards the river and followed it. He remembered that the river carried him away from the cities in the Seven Mountains after he fell from the cliff. He decided to follow the river and make his way back to the city where Brimstone ruled—back to his country of origin.

The clouds rolled, and Leo followed the river to his destiny.

He climbed a rock and looked out into the horizon. He saw mountain peaks saw the tallest mountains, the seven mountains, and he remembered standing on the cliff when the Fang cornered him.

He realized how much he had grown. He remembered his sorrows. He remembered the little joys, and he remembered everyone he had met. He remembered Hannah and Rachel and Elizabeth and Solomon, and the list goes on; but most importantly he remembered Jesus. He remembered all the people he had killed when he was a slave to King Brimstone, and he remembered the people he hurt after he escaped.

He truly was...
