25 Making It Up 2

After walking in, Ci-ci involuntarily smiled when he saw a little beauty curled up on his couch looking almost like a little kitten. But, that smile faded away to pain when he noticed the cold, half eaten dinner on the living room table.

Ci-ci kneeled down, gently brus.h.i.+ng Milana's silky brown hair.

"Mm." Milana s.h.i.+fted in her sleep, blinking awake. When she saw that it was Lucius, she smiled warmly, brightening up the room.

"I'm sorry," Ci-ci said guiltily. "There's a major merger going on at work, I had to stay there all night."

Milana shook head, signaling that she didn't mind. "You don't need to explain."

"Why didn't you sleep upstairs? What's mine is yours." Ci-ci spoke with a slight blaming tone, but his words made Milana blush. It wasn't surprising for an unmarried young woman to blush after hearing such a thing from her beloved.

"How about you skip work today," Ci-ci suddenly said.

"But –" Milana thought back to all of the plans and troubles they had. Skipping a day could cause ma.s.sive issues.

Ci-ci laughed. "Don't tell me that the daughter of the CEO can't even call in for one fake sick day, hm? How about it?"

"I can't." After a few moments of struggling, Milana eventually put her foot down. The next coming months were too important. However, when she saw the disappointment on Ci-ci's face, she made a concession. "How about I be an hour or two late?"

With a grin of victory, Ci-ci swept Milana's pet.i.te frame into his arms, not allowing her to reject as he charged up the stairs and into the master bathroom.

Milana's adorable rain of curses filled Ci-ci's home, but in the end, she still willingly entered the shower with him, allowing them to enjoy a morning of warm water and tender kisses together.

Later in the day, Ci-ci drove Milana to work personally. Although she had her own SUV, he did so purposely so that they could spend time together later that night.

His grin didn't fade, but neither did Milana's blush. Although they hadn't had s.e.x, today was the first time Ci-ci had seen her completely naked. In fact, it was the first time any man had seen her naked. Ci-ci had taken almost all of her firsts by now, yet she felt oddly comfortable. She had a feeling that told her this man would never intentionally hurt her, so what more could she ask for?

Soon, they were pulling up to East Algood City, weaving through the streets to stop in front of the small apartment building turned office that was Petrov Technologies.

Ci-ci couldn't find a parking spot, so he turned on his emergency lights and hopped out of the car to lead Milana up the stairs, idly chatting with her. However, the calm and happy morning they were having came to an abrupt end the moment they walked into the lobby area.

Milana gasped in shock. Although Petrov Technologies was a small company without much of a budget, their presentation had always been acceptable. But, now? It looked like a storm had raged through their once neat lobby.

The soft rugs were nowhere to be seen, the couches were flipped over and had what looked like knife cuts running through them, even the computer monitor that Nellie used behind the reception desk was gone, leaving behind a mess of wires.

In the distance, toward Kazimir Petrov's first floor corner office, they could hear the faint sounds of yelling and anger. It sounded like a man trying to calm an agitated woman.

When Ci-ci realized this, he was certain that that voice was Nellie, the receptionist, and Kazimir.

Ci-ci grasped Milana's trembling hand, stabilizing her before they walked toward the office.

"Didn't I tell you to stop dealing with these people?!" Nellie shrieked. "I stay here and help out of respect for my dead sister and Little Melly, but every action you take seems to want to run everything into the ground! The Russians aren't going to treat you well just because your last name is Petrov!"

"Nellie, I have all of this under control."

Ci-ci frowned when he heard The Russians were involved. The first day he came here as Ci-ci Bell, and not Lucius Grant, he had witnessed Petrov kicking out two large tattooed men. Considering their thick accents and the very specific tattoos they had and what they represented, Ci-ci immediately linked them to The Ghettos.

Back then, they had warned Kazimir about their boss, but he had all but told them to screw off.

Ci-ci felt a flame of anger boiling up inside of him. What would have happened had he not made Milana late this morning? What if she had been hurt?

These people had clearly come here to send a message to Kazimir. What if they decided that message would be better sent by hurting his daughter?

Ci-ci's grip on Milana's hand tightened. "Stay with me for the next few days." His tone didn't give any room for rejection, so Milana could only blankly nod.

At the moment, she felt quite empty. Things like this happened, but it had never been this bad before. Clearly things were worse than her father was letting on.
