Usually, a reward mechanism and promises of a “generous reward” would make people more efficient and spur them on to reach a target . However, the R&D team that created Lu Jia'er was like a ghost . Generally speaking, research projects could be boring . But Lu Jia'er used a different approach . She asked her students to talk freely and to their heart's content about their ideas and expectations that they had regarding AI . Her students graciously spelled out their views . The focus of their discussion was that the combination of AI and psychology could help patients with more direct, convenient and private consultation as well as treatment .

Though Lu Jia'er was young and she would have similar thoughts as her students who were younger, sparkles of fresh ideas were generated nonetheless .

“Professor Lu, the ultimate state of combining AI and psychology, as I see it, is something like a CT scan . With a CT scan, you can tell the symptoms of a patient to suit the remedy to the case . In the future, AI can capture the micro-expressions, micro-movements and micro reactions to understand the patient's thoughts through scanning!” A girl shared her ideas .

Lu Jia'er nodded to this idea . “Anything else?”

“Professor Lu, I think in the future AI can help us hear the inner voice of other people! In other words, mind-reading!” A boy with gla.s.ses remarked .
