83 Horses And Midnights

Knowing it would be useless to knock, Darryl followed the girl's track until he was able to get a view of her sneaking into the vast garden of the forest mansion. She had her hair on ponytail which was not her usual hairstyle and such complimented thoroughly on the night's darkness making the girl less likely to be seen. Also, she was very calculative of her actions, watching every direction and making light steps to keep herself unnoticed. She was carrying something on her hand, like a medicine kit or something which Darryl couldn't really tell.

He wanted to call her but he was really curious of what was she upto. Could it be something important or was she trying to accomplish a crazy bet again? Either of the two, he must be there to watch her because he knew she was very prune to making trouble. And tonight, it seemed that she hadn't learned her lesson way back to her farmhouse.

Darryl tallied on Xhemin unnoticed. He admitted it was hard to follow her as she was very fast and careful which Darryl cannot help but compliment and it took a good amount of calculative skill to follow a girl who was like a ninja a.s.sa.s.sin roaming around. He certainly didn't know she had this kind of talent. He thought her heavy kick and jabs were the only unusual traits that she had but seemed like he was wrong.

She did came across some of the guards that were rallying at night, but she avoided them too easily. Not even one of the guards noticed someone even how close they were at her.

It didn't take long for Darryl to notice where the girl was heading to. To the barns. To the barn where the horses died this afternoon. It made Darryl's curiosity rose up to great heights.

'What is Xhemin gonna do on an empty barn?'

Yes. The barn was empty since he had asked them to dispose the dead bodies of horses—wait! Not entirely empty as his stallion was still in that place lying and waiting for his last breath. So, what is her business on what seemed like a graveyard?

Darryl stood still from where he was hiding few meters away from the barn where the girl was heading to. She saw the girl made another ground check before she went in the barn and close it. If he would go for the barn's door, he will surely be noticed by her, so he thought of a way to know what she was doing there without being noticed.

He had no idea what she was aiming for, but he was d.a.m.n to curious that he didn't want to end this night without knowing.

"Dr. Cyan, all is clear" Xhemin said in a low voice as she went closer to the doctor who was already there sitting himself comfortably inside the horse's pen. He was there even before the girl could get in.

Despite being banished from the barn, Dr. Cyan found a way to get in. An easy one actually since all he needed to do was volunteer with the laborers who were disposing the horse' dead bodies.

Knowing that it was not a doctor's job but a laborer's job, Piper let him do it with pleasure. Of course, she didn't mind him roaming around a useless barn at all.

The task took them a great deal amount of time because they need to clean up and sanitize the barn after, to conform to Dr. Piper Xu's standards of hygiene, so they ended up very late. He made an excuse to rest for a while when they finished the job and the laborers let him as everyone was too tired to care.

However, for Xhemin as she was viewed as a fragile little girl, the laborers would only laugh at her when she will make the same excuse that Dr. Cyan made. That's why she ended up sneaking out from the mansion's security to go through the barn. Good thing the barn's security was light then knowing there was nothing more important in it.

"Seemed that you have not sleep at all" Dr. Cyan commented as soon as he saw the girl's face.

"I couldn't sleep" She answered in response. "...You must be really tired…" Xhemin added a minute after as soon as she noticed the doctor's muddied clothes and boots.

"I'm fine" He answered "Also, I'm afraid Piper Xu might have no task for me tomorrow so I can use all my time then to rest"

"How was he?" she eased himself inside the horse pen to make a full access of the horse.

"Not good. Seemed that they just left him here to die"

"Poor one. Don't worry buddy I have a cure for you" She said and took something out from her bag. "I'll inject it to your body directly because I'm afraid you don't have the strength to do some drinking"

Just that and Xhemin put on her gloves and prepare to needle. Good thing that the laborers just finished their overtime cleaning and knew that Dr. Cyan was still there resting or finis.h.i.+ng up something, so it was not officially lights off in the barn. The doctor volunteered to turn off the lights ealier when he made the excuse to rest.

Dr. Cyan was caressing the horse body to ease up its tensed weakling nerves before Xhemin did so herself and inject one dose to the horse. She needed to inject two more of such but needed to wait for at least a couple of minutes to do so.

"The first one is done" She said still in a low tone almost like a whisper.
