18 Honesty Isn't Always The Best Answer

Allon collected his words, "I'm sure I can prove useful."

"Doubt it." Keme cut him off, his gaze hard on the boy like he would snap him like a twig, "Tsuru only needs me, your not needed, not like you've done anything useful anyway."

"I'm going with you both," Allon demanded, standing his ground even when Keme loomed over him like he would crush his every bone, the man didn't want him here anymore. Things were started with Tsuru so he wasn't needed.

"I'll consider it." She moved her gaze elsewhere, "Go with Evira, she deserves a good explanation.... the truth to be exact." Tsuru expected the girl to be awake by now, however, she couldn't imagine how much the girl might hate her after the truth was told.

Allon didn't protest and left their sight if he wanted Tsuru to consider taking him he wouldn't go against her words. On the other hand, Keme glared at the boy's back seeming to hope it would catch fire, his eyes slowly making their way to Tsuru, "I hope your joking, we won't be bringing him."

Tsuru gave him a smirk leaning on her hand, "Now why not? He did bring me to you, and painfully screwed up at killing me." She stood up from the chair and reached the doork.n.o.b across the hall, twisting it until hearing the click before the room was revealed. Keme trailed after her noticing she just opened a common room in the house.

"He's not needed."

"He could still be useful." She traced her hand over the bedside table, the room was comfortable naught for one person alone being quite simple, "or am I wrong?"

Keme froze when having her eyes on him scowling knowing she was just annoying him, "Give me one good reason."

"I'm telling you."

He scowled at her sarcasm, "Give me another good reason."

"I feel guilty."

He averted her gaze, he knew just what she meant, and that hurt ever so much, it was the primary reason he had been searching for her for so long. He felt awful for what he had done to her, finding his past reasons unacceptable.

"Don't stay quiet." Her previously confident voice cracked when speaking, "Will you accept my reasons?" His silence was unbearable, especially in a moment like this, his complexion not letting her know if he meant yes or no, "Keme?"

Before she even realized it he held her, "Whatever you ask.... anything." His hands were loosely wrapped around her while his head laid on her shoulder, "I'm sorry."

"Sorry? For what?" Her question brought turmoil to his being, he hated remembering those old times and only answered with silence until she reluctantly changed the subject, "Get a lead on Keir."

Her words were like a spell on him, without waistline a second he was out of sight and off to do her bidding. Keir wasn't an easy man to track but he did leave a certain pattern, something Keme kept track of just like any of the other genies.

Tsuru left the room, her hand on her chest shaking slightly, every step brought her closer to Keir, everything she did was all finally be worth it. All the sacrifices throughout the centuries, all the bloodshed and suffering finally proving to have not been in vain. It all felt like the light at the end of a tunnel but was she mentally prepared. Face the man she once loved and would die for, the same man who stabbed her in the back and carried on his life without her while hers crumbled into pieces.

The world shook like an earthquake under her feet with the pressure she felt, realizing the true extent of the situation her breath was uneven yet felt like she couldn't breathe with every gasp she took. What if she failed, what if it was really all for nothing?

"Tsuru." Allon's voice brought her to reality, slowly taking a step towards her, "Can we talk?"

"Uh... s-sure."

He leads her to the living room where Evira was sitting up shaking like crazy, her eyes widening more than one would believe possible when seeing Tsuru walking in, "You... you.... you're Tsuru."

Tsuru took a deep calming breath regaining her composure before proceeding to speak to Evira, "I am. Has everything been explained to you?"

"What... explained, explained what?" Evira was so overwhelmed she couldn't form a proper sentence especially when Tsuru's gaze on her was so solid and sharp.

"Evira, the last night you were alive you were shaking in your sleep... I poisoned you. Why? I needed your body-"

"You did what!" Being cut off and Evira's words no longer stumbling like a toddler her eyes showed anger yet hurt as she had never expected someone to have something against her, "What did I do? Did I ask too many questions?"

Tsuru pulled at her s.h.i.+rt feeling the pressure of the situation cage her like an animal, a feeling she knew far too well, "You did nothing, it was simply business I had to do that required your death."

"What am I to you?!" She screamed stomping over to be faced to face with Tsuru, not being much of a night difference when she tried to take on a threatening position.

Being caught off guard with the question there was a second of silence before her answer came, "A human being, nothing more. Things are clear between us now, you'll be heading back home, your mother must be worried."

Evira froze in her spot looking at Tsuru, she had believed they were friends, that they could trust each other. In reality, Tsuru didn't believe or trust much in anyone. Tsuru took a step back from the girl before turning her back on her and making a quick getaway.

"Did you know?" Evira looked at Allon her eyes getting cloudy and her fist shut so tight her knuckles had gone white. Allon didn't quickly respond just looked down without meeting her gaze, "Answer me!"

"I did..."
