35 Parallel Story - The Girl Despised

I feel nothing, even after being struck by that mighty blow, that's for sure in a very bad sign. We used all our strength, but we couldn't defeat even a single troll. Looking away I see Bianca, she was on her knees as she looked back with an expression of fear.

I can move my body, I always seem to draw some strength when it comes to this child. A smile forms on my face. Even though I'm younger, I always have to take care of her. I extend my hand and I can pull your hand lightly.

"Clara?" She says as she turns towards me.

"Me..."

I try to talk, but finally I feel a bit of the pain that was absent, the cough comes out without me being able to stop it and with it I can see drops of blood sneezing.

"Don't talk, it'll get worse, I'll cure you right now."

Bianca comes closer and puts her hands on my back, maybe she'd think about turning me around, but she gives up right away. Listening to his words, I let out just a brief laugh.

"You know very well my condition." Once again coughing comes, breathing becomes more difficult now. "Can you turn me around on the ground? I want to see your face."

I can't tell you why, but the monsters didn't seem to be coming towards us anymore, Bianca would look at them quickly sometimes. When she spins me I can see her face straight. I smile at her.

By her expression I must be in terrible condition, I expected her to start crying, but she pa.s.ses her hand on my head.

"She always fought me to take better care of me" Bianca whines.

"And you never listened to me..." I talk laughing again, but I'm interrupted by a cough. "You know this isn't your fault, right?" I try to lift my hand towards her, but there is no more strength, realizing this she holds my hand. "Your visions, they... are not..." I needed more and more effort to get a word out, my vision was already too blurred to see anything. "Cursed..."

Please, long live my friend, a bright future awaits you, I'm sure.

"Clara lunch is ready." I hear my mother screaming.

I was sitting in the doorway. When I get up to follow the kitchen I see a girl pa.s.sing by the street, she is someone known in the city, but I never had the opportunity to talk to her. Your red hair catches my attention.

"Clara!" Once again I hear a scream.

"I'm coming" I answer.

When I get up I can still see the girl's back. I wanted to talk to her, but that's considered taboo, besides my mother would probably kill me.

I meet my parents at the dinner table, something rare to happen.

"That girl was coming by again today," says my mother.

"Have pity on her, the girl lost her parents," replies my father.

They usually get along very well, but I've seen some arguments about this girl when she pa.s.ses by our house.

"She predicted that and yet she did nothing," she says, raising her voice a little.

"Who could predict something like this?" He responds with a sad little laugh.

The city was also divided over this girl. Rumours were circulating that she could predict people's deaths, even that she was the cause of those deaths, in addition to several other absurd things.

"I don't care" talks and then turns towards me. "Clara, you are forbidden to go near this girl."

You keep looking at me while you wait for my answer, but all I do is nod my head in agreement.

~Some days later~

I don't have much to do, I would like to study, learning to read is a dream of mine, but my parents don't have the money for it, they don't let me help them a lot at work either, because of that I have a lot of free time. When I have nothing to do I usually walk on the beach.

"Are you still here, witch?" I hear a boy's voice.

Looking towards the place where the voice came from, there were three boys facing a girl with red hair. They laughed while directing offenses at her. My face gets warm with this situation, I don't think I've ever felt such anger in this way, without thinking my body ends up moving by itself.

Always when I went to play with the kids in the city, I stood out for my speed, I knew I couldn't try to buy a fight depending on strength. Looking at the ground I see a piece of wood, I pick it up and run towards them.

"Hey, a.s.sholes!" Scream for all three.

Everyone's looking in my direction. I kicked the ground and the sand goes up towards them, who end up raising their hands to protect their eyes. At that time I threw the wood in their directions, I can see it hit the face of one of them.

"Run!" I take the girl's hand and pull it while I run.

I can hear screams of protest coming from behind, but we kept running until we could find a safe place.

"You..." I'll take a little break to catch my breath. "Are you all right?"

She also spends some time trying to catch her breath.

"h.e.l.lo, thank you" still responds by breathing heavily.

I look around. We were far away from where we were, a part of the beach where people do not usually come, because that is where the fis.h.i.+ng boats and the fishermen's equipment are.

We both sit in the sand for a while, but n.o.body says anything.

"Eh..." I decide to try and break the ice. "My name is Clara."

I speak by turning towards you and reaching out my hand towards you. His expression was a genuine face poker. I understand it was kind of strange, we had actually seen each other before, but I always ignored her because of my mother, so we never exchanged a single word between us.

After a brief embarra.s.sing moment, a smile formed on his face as he looked me in the eyes. The sun was setting and the surrounding scene seemed to conspire with that scene. Her red hair matched perfectly with the shade of heaven. I feel my face getting slightly warm, my face was probably flushed, but I prefer to keep it a secret that my heart has accelerated a bit.

"My name is Bianca" answers shyly. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

We didn't talk much, it was already night and we needed to go home right away, when we decided to come back she stays put.

"What?" I ask. "Let's go back."

"Well..." She makes a confusing expression. "Wouldn't it be better if we didn't go back to town together?" he asks. "You'll end up being treated badly because of me."

He looked at the floor as he talked, but he looked at me sometimes. Her attention was not on me, it was probably lost in her thoughts, it is not something that I, who never went through what she went through, could understand, but I believe that everyone has experienced the feeling of sadness and this is the closest I have.

"Look here" I call.

She doesn't look in my direction, seeing this I get close to her and hold her hands, her face ends up getting up, making our looks meet. I remember my father telling me, looking into people's eyes is the best way to convey his true intentions.

"Let's be friends!" I speak.

"Wait a minute, what kind of conclusion is that?" She seemed to be even more confused.

"I won't take no for an answer," I say.

Sometimes people say that my biggest defect is being too stubborn, but I think completely the opposite, this is my biggest quality. I look directly into her eyes, she tries to look away, she keeps quiet for a while, but I keep looking without blinking.

"Okay..." Just be quiet for a few more seconds. "Let's be friends... friends.

Your voice comes out very low, but I can hear it clearly. I let go of her hands and she looks at me with a face of doubt, then I lift my little finger at her, her expression gets even more confused.

"Eh?"

"Little finger promise" I speak with a smile.

"What are you, 5?" Even with those words she was smiling.

"Just do it!" I exclaim a little irritated.

Despite a slight reluctance on her part, we ended up entwining our little fingers.

"We'll be friends and we'll always be there when the other one needs it, whoever breaks that promise will have to swallow a thousand needles." I speak humming.

We let our fingers go and despite the strangeness, we were both smiling, then she brings her hand, which we use to make the promise, to her chest and looks at me.

"I hope we can be good friends." Your smile was beautiful.

Let's keep it a secret that this girl made my heart race twice that day.

We went back to town together, it was already dark when we left the beach. As we walked several eyes were directed at us, various feelings were involved, happiness, anger, pity. It must be very difficult to walk and always get that attention. Some adults came to talk to Bianca, asked her if she was in need of anything, pa.s.sing by the bakery the owner gave her several things and when saying goodbye she asked her to come more often.

"But, ma'am, that's a lot." Bianca says trying to refuse gifts.

"You haven't been around much, you don't need to feel ashamed, just come here," he answers. "If you don't come, I'll take it in your house!"

"Eh... but..."

The lady looks at her and winks, the girl realizing this just lowers her head in a sign of reverence.

"Thank you very much" answers.

"That's much better." you say with a look of victory.

We pa.s.sed your house and split up. His house was quite common, neither too big nor too small, but it could be seen that he was very well cared for, as the plants in the garden were beautiful.

"So, I'll see you tomorrow?" I ask as she walked into the house.

"If you want" says smiling. "I'm always here, come have coffee with me tomorrow, the lady gave me too much food and if I don't have help she'll ruin it."

I finally understood that little wink.

"I'll come tomorrow, we'll play a lot" I speak.
