29 Memory And Never Was

"Wakey, wakey Princess!"

I groaned and clumsily batted at Jensen's bouncing on the bed to jerk my body about.

"I'm awake!" I complained that stirred a chuckle from the pesky knight.

"What are you doing here?" I groaned as I gave my shoulders and arms a morning scratch.

"Nice bed hair." Jensen's chuckle became mild laughter at the sight of my black tufts flopping about my eyes.

I was keenly aware I needed a cut.

"Seriously, what's up?" I sighed, not impressed.

"You're wanted on deck."

I looked next to me and noticed Death's side of the bed was empty.

"He's already up, bright and perky. I guess he's the morning person." Jensen answered.

I frowned, perplexed. It wasn't morning?

"What time is it?"

"Time for you to get up!" Jensen yanked off my bed covers.

He called out Dionysus to get me up and ready army style. That canary task master squawked and screeched me into motion; making my wash, dry, dress and style routine a fast forward action.

"Ten minutes. Not bad." Jensen looked impressed as he checked time on his pocket watch.

I heaved a sigh as I adjusted my flat cap to my head and donned my navy patchwork overcoat.

"Happy trails Master." Dionysus warmly saw me at the door.

I acknowledged his greeting with a nod then followed Jensen's lead down the hallway, through the bar area, sitting area and way out of the mansion towards a dreaded elevator.

"Stasis Theatre or Labyrinth?" I groaned.

Jensen chuckled. "Neither."

I shrugged off my questions and followed him down a straight moonstone path that led to a bird cage type of gazebo. I frowned, noticing its surface glimmered underneath the glaring daylight.

"Gla.s.s?" I asked.

"Yep. Well, you'll see." Jensen answered.

I wasn't sure how to feel about his answer. Fortunately I was distracted by the sight of Death and War who were inspecting roses from the bushes nearby. Upon closer inspection, I realized they were actually talking to Small Cap.

_"Freend!"_

The huntsmans spider jumped off the bush he had been perching on and landed on my shoulder when I stood next to War.

"Hey buddy." I lightly petted the top of his head.

I thought I heard him purr and chuckled. He scurried into my belt pouch and nestled in his usual spot between my box of crackers and bandages.

_"Missed this place."_ Small Cap yawned as he settled down to sleep.

"You're late." Death soberly declared.

"You should've woken me." I huffed.

"In your stupor, nothing could wake you." Death coolly answered.

"Fair enough." I groaned.

On cue, I felt my head ache, with memories of the day before swimming about. I didn't have much memory from the time I had downed Lita's drink from h.e.l.l. I did remember the pa.s.sionate kiss I had shared with Daniel and our mutual love confessions. Thinking of the moment made my heart race.

Hold up. Who the heck is Daniel? I suddenly realised I had said that name instead of the Colonel's.

I closed my eyes to picture where it came from. Adams-san's droopy dog-eyed face appeared with a sleazy grin and touchy feely hands feeling up my torso and teasing my nipples before a black stone alter.

"Yeek! That's darn right disgusting!" I spat out my distaste at the thought.

"Whadah.e.l.l Famisto?! Don't tell meh that slimy git copped a feel of yah too?!" War angrily blurted his question to me.

I frowned, not liking the fact War had somehow seen my thought. Looks like Death's mind s.h.i.+eld wasn't strong enough.

"Nah. Its gotten weak cause of the drink. Yah need to strengthen it." War answered to my thought.

I groaned.

"We'll have to do some daily exercises as soon as we have free time. For now, try not to think of weird things," Death said.

"Why are yah thinking of that sleazy monk? He didn't touch yah did he?!" War eagerly quizzed me, returning to our earlier conversation.

I slammed an elbow into his gut.

"Cut it out! No he didn't. I don't know why it came into my head."

"When you brothers are finished playing, we need to leave here?" Jensen coughed to interrupt our conversation.

We gave each other testing glances before focusing on Jensen and following him through the metal grill and gla.s.s door of the bird cage gazebo.
