"f.u.c.k this," I mumbled while climbing into the bed. I wrapped the covers around me before closing my eyes. I opened them again only to see that I was in the same room. I kept squeezing my eyes shut until I fell asleep.

I opened my eyes and looked around. I threw my feet over the side of the bed and sighed heavily. It didn't work. I groaned loudly before standing up and making my way towards the door to my bedroom. I opened the door only to come face to face with my mom.

I still wasn't used to seeing her.

"Carter, are you okay?" She asked with a frown on her face. I stared at her for a few minutes before speaking.

"I'm fine, mom!" I said except mom sounded more like a question. She stood there in silence for a few seconds before walking up to me. I froze as she slowly brought her hand up to my cheek and caressed it.

"Carter," She started, "You've grown into a beautiful young woman and I am so proud of you! I may not tell you this everyday because I'm always so busy and stressed but I love you very much,"

I smiled softly at her, "I love you too,"

"Here," She said while digging into the pocket of her jeans. I looked down as she pulled a small object out and held it in the palm of her hand. My eyes widened as I stared at the gold ring in her finger, "This belonged to your father and it belongs to you now! It was his father's, then it was his, and now it is yours!"

I grabbed the familiar gold ring and twirled it around in my finger, "Thank you,"

"This is like a crown to you," She explained, "Do not ever lose it! It is special and I will need you to hold onto this tightly,"

I don't know what happened or why I did it but I couldn't stop myself. I grabbed the golden ring out of her hand, slammed it on the dresser, and said exactly what was on my mind.

"How the f.u.c.k are you even alive?"

My mom squinted her eyes at me and stared at me in disbelief, "Who the f.u.c.k do you think you are talking to? What do you mean why am I alive? Who do you think you are speaking to me this way? I don't know where you got this language from but it better f.u.c.king stop!" She exclaimed, "You're lucky your little brother isn't here to hear this,"

"When the f.u.c.k did I get a little brother?" I yelled.

"Carter!" She yelled while walking towards me. I grabbed her by her wrist and brought her to the bed that sat in my room.

"Mom, this is gonna sound so crazy!" I started, "But I'm from the future and in the future, you're dead! You're buried underground, you are good to the maggots. You are maggot food!"

"Cater, just what the h.e.l.l are you talking about?"

"Didn't I tell you it was gonna sound crazy?" I exclaimed before jumping up and pacing around the room, "I thought I knew everything but it seems that my entire life has been a lie! For example, I didn't know that I was born in the f.u.c.king 1975 which means that I am f.u.c.king 44 in the future yet I looked like I'm in my very early 20s!"

"Carter—"

"Oscar and Tempest? Those two little f.u.c.king s.h.i.+ts!" I exclaimed, "How dare they come here and pretend that they haven't been in my d.a.m.n head? I know Tempest can control the weather too! Oscar with his f.u.c.king superhuman strength then there's you!"

"Me?" She yelled back.

"Yes! Mysteria!" I screamed and the room got quiet. She looked down at the floor before slowly looking at me.

"How do you know that?" She asked, "Obviously you know that I'm a mutant since we are living in Zims but I tend to separate my personal life from my career to protect my children so how did you know the name that I'm called?"

"I told you that I come from the future,"

She shook her head before storming over towards the door. I opened my mouth to say something but closed it because I had already said a little too much. She opened the door to my room but stopped as she headed out. She turned her head towards me slightly and spoke, "You're 18! It's time for you to attend Zims Academy and you leave tomorrow,"

"What the h.e.l.l is that?" I yelled as the door slammed shut.

"You've got to be f.u.c.king kidding me," I mumbled as I stood in front of Zims Academy. Turns out, Zims Academy is Martial Headquarters in the future. Would you look at that? You learn quite a lot when you're stuck in the past! In the future, it looks like a huge mansion and it is filled with plenty of people like me but here in the past it looks like a huge mansion filled with orphans.

"Let me guess," I started, "Whose the owner? John Porter?" I joked and giggled a bit. My mom turned towards me and her mouth parted.

"How did you know?"

"Oh h.e.l.l no," I mumbled. Before either of us could say another word, John Porter walked towards us with a huge smile on his face. He grabbed my mother's hand and shook it.

"It's so nice to see you again!" She said while giving him a huge smile.

"It's always a pleasure to see you, dear!" He replied before turning his attention towards me. I smiled softly at him as he grabbed my hand and shook it.

"This is my daughter, Carter! She's been under plenty of stress lately and I don't think she's been getting any sleep so please excuse her if she says anything that might sound a little crazy but I'm positive it will all change once she begins to live and take her cla.s.ses here!"

"I'm not crazy woman," I mumbled.

John walked us into the huge school and I stared at it in amazement. Both versions were beautiful. There were plenty of people walking around while some were saying goodbye to their loved ones. We continued to follow John until we were officially in his office. We sat down and he began to explain rules and regulations but I blocked him out and started to look around the familiar office.

It was crazy how everything still looked the same.

The desk was still in the exact spot. It was filled with many papers and I could tell that he was quite busy. The chairs were different but they still sat in front of his desk. The window behind him was still the biggest thing in the room except there were red drapes around it. The bookshelves were still in the exact spot and the books looked like they haven't even been touched.

"I'll run to my car and get it," I heard my mom say before standing up and walking to the door. I watched as she exited and softly closed the door behind her. I turned back around and looked at John as he sat at the desk and smiled at me. I sighed heavily before looking off to the side.

"How's it going?" I asked, "You know? Teaching all of these students at this huge school?"

"Cut the act, Carter," John spoke. I looked up at him as he lifted the coffee mug to his lips and took a sip.

"I have no idea what you're talking about,"

"What are you stuck in the past?"

"I'm not stuck in the past," I growled, "I came here willingly and I can go back!"

"Why did you come back to the past? Don't do anything that will ruin the present or the future!"

"The present has already been ruined and the future is headed in the same d.a.m.n path! How did you know that I even time traveled?"

John leaned back and smirked, "I'm the most powerful mutant to exist! I think I'd know some information like this,"

"I thought you said that I was the most powerful one,"

"You will be the moment you get all of your powers and learn how to control them," He answered.

"You're still old," I teased, "If I blow them you'd probably fade away in dust,"

"Carter," John said while sighing heavily, "Be careful?"

"I will," I replied.

Suddenly, the door to John's office was slammed open and my mom walked in with a bunch of papers in a folder. She smiled softly and walked inside. My mouth dropped open at the person who walked in behind her.

"I have her files here and this young girl was standing outside of the door wanting to speak with you," My mom explained. I stared at Sarah as she stared right back at me.
