As Gu Xijiu listened to him, she tried to find a way to unlock the magic iron chains. The lock was crafted intricately and could not be opened by most people, but fortunately for him, Gu Xijiu was unlike most people. Therefore, by the time Yun Yanli had finished sharing his story, she had unlocked the chains!

It was only when Gu Xijiu released Yun Yanli from the chains that she understood his true suffering.

The Magic Iron Chains that fettered Yun Yanli's wrists and ankles had spikes protruding from inside that sunk right into his flesh and bone. She could hardly unfetter the chains without further damaging his bone, leaving behind a harrowing sight of blood.

Yun Yanli was Gu Xijiu's trusty and precious companion in this world. He had offered a lot of help to Gu Xijiu in the past as well. Now that he has fallen into this state, she naturally felt sorrowful and used her best endeavors to heal his many injuries.

Without even pausing to think, she took out her best medicine and applied it on his wounds. 

"Xijiu, is my family still well? What the young palace master said must be false, right?" Yun Yanli finally asked the question he was concerned about the most.

Gu Xijiu's fingers halted for a second. How should she tell him everything about the former Emperor Immortal? She was not entirely clear about the matter as well as she had only heard bits about it. But the collapse of the Yun family was indeed true.

Pausing for a moment, she then told Yun Yanli gently, "Your father and elder brother have gone missing. No one knows where they are now. The new emperor is indeed Ye Tianli…"

Yun Yanli's complexion turned pale. "They really are… they really have… it was really the work of that devil Xuemo..."

Gu Xijiu shook her head. "Things didn't go as simple as what she had said… From what I know, your father had conspired with the subst.i.tute Divine G.o.d against Xuemo's mother and son, almost sundering the both of them apart… You should investigate into this yourself to know more about it once you get out of here."

The news did not hit Yun Yanli well; he sat motionlessly in astonishment. Gu Xijiu did not try consoling him; the grief of these matters was inconsolable. Since Yun Yanli was of royal blood, he should know all about the personality of his father. Once anything relates to power, morals and ethics become obsolete. 

His father got what was coming to him and deserved no sympathy. However, as Yun Yanli was the prince of the previous dynasty, it was natural for him to feel anguish. All she could do was hope that he would walk out of his pain soon.

"Your mother and sister are still alive. They have been arranged to settle down at a small palace and are living a good life. You can visit them after you get out of here."

Yun Yanli sighed lightly. His pallid complexion had been restored with some color. "I will."

"Quite well."

"Have you met the person you wanted to meet?"

"I guess that is the case…"

"Really?" Yun Yanli's eyes brightened up. "That's great! You've searched for him for long enough; it has been a few hundred years… I felt sad for you at that time when you went to the heavens to look for him. Which Mighty Immortal is he now? I have to know him. Xijiu, is he your significant other?"
