Chapter 30

Chapter 30 {this is volume 2 “contact with the outside world” – chapter 12 “The appearance and contents don’t match”}

Una viewpoint.

 After traveling through the Erd desert for about an hour.

 Finally we have found a town where humans live.

 I see, I can sense the presence of many humans. The presence of their soul is the same as what I heard from Ann.

 Is this what is called the sign of man?

 Perhaps Ann and Otōsama can figure out the exact number of people, but I can only get a rough estimate.

 I need to work harder.

 Oh, Dos and Tres are fidgety.

 This is the first time we’ve seen a human town, they seem to be excited.

 Fufu, it looks like I was excited about the usually expressionless Dos.

 His cheeks are slightly red.

 It’s cute, isn’t it?

 Shall I ask Otōsama for instructions?

 I take out the communication stone from my chest, smell the scent of my Otōsama, and put in magic power.

 The purpose of sniffing is for concentration.

 [Otōsama, this is Una. I found a human town.]

 Otōsama came out immediately.

 『I see, that was faster than I thought. Well done. Now, what will we do from now on…』

 [Ochichi-san! I want to see that town!] – (Tres)

{tres says “chichi” which is what a kid calls their dad, the o- and – san, are honorifics}

 Oh, Tres breaks into the conversation from the side.

 You’re going to interrupt my conversation with Otōsama!

 Alright!

 I’ll punish you later on, Tres!

 『Hmm? Does Tres want to enter the town?』

 [Yup!] – (Tres)

 『Really………』

 Otōsama thought of something.

 Perhaps he was confused because Tres gave her own opinion.

 No, no Tres.

 『Good. Then all three of you listen. Please enter the town and gather information from now on. Any information is fine. If possible, focus on language, common sense, culture, and adventurers.』

 [Understood]

 I immediately reply to it.

 It is an instruction from Otōsama. There can be no opposition.

 I look at the other two, both nod in agreement. It is natural.

 『Then I’m expecting your report. If anything happens, let me know.』

 [Yes. I’ll definitely live up to your expectations.]

 I bowed to the communication stone and ended the call.

 I Smell it again before I put it in my chest pocket.

 Fuwa.

 [………Now, both of you heard Otōsama’s words. From now on, we will infiltrate the human town.]

 [Hooray]

 [………(nods head)]

{author uses コクリ = kokuri, idk if it’s the sound of nodding or the act of nodding itself}

 [Ok, let’s go.]

 We went straight to the town of humans.

 Here we go, this is Otōsama’s orders.

 Let’s see it completed!

 [Please show your pa.s.sport or ID.] – (gatekeeper?)

 [[ […………] ]]

 I ran into the biggest wall almost instantly.

 A man who seems to be a gatekeeper was standing in front of us.

 [Who is this Ojisan?] – (Tres)

 Tres asks with her head c.o.c.ked to the side.

 [h.e.l.lo, young lady. I’m Artemistone Balfrein, I’m a guard in this town. I’m sorry, can you give your ID to your brother? This is my job, and without ID, I can’t let you girls into town.]

{アルテミストーン・バルフレイン = Arutemisutōn barufurein}

 The gatekeeper answers Tres’s questions while meeting her gaze.

 Hey, it’s not like Tres is something like a goblin.

 Do I need to kill you?

 Ah, I shouldn’t, I shouldn’t.

 Anyway, what is an ID card?

 This body was given to me by my otōsama.

 There are only my siblings or Otōsama who can prove who I am.

{Id card = 身分証 = Mibun-shō = ident.i.ty/status+proof/testimony. this doesn’t translate well, but the guard is asking for something as proof of who she is, she’s confused, and shes like “only my family can prove who I am”}

 I look towards Tres and Dos.

 Both seem to be troubled.

 What shall we do?

 I can’t enter the city at this rate.

 Then it dawned on me.

 Oh, that’s right, if I just kill this guard―――

 [Ah, did you lose your Id cards?] – (?)

 When I was about to put my hand on my sword, a man with the same equipment, but with an unshaven face, came out from behind the gate.

 Wow, he looks dirty.

 [With that appearance, you’re an adventurer, right? I can’t see you as a merchant. If so, please have it reissued at the guild. If you pay the toll, I’ll issue you a temporary ID.] – (bearded guard)

 Well, if you pay, you can get into town.

 Apparently we look like adventurers.

 Adventurer…………Oh, those are the guys hunting Otōsama.

 To be something like that, it gives me an unpleasant feeling in the bottom of my heart, but it seems it will be best to play along.

 [That’s right, it’s hard to say, but I lost my money at that time.] – (Una)

 So, let’s get into town quickly.

 Ah, no. Please let us in.

 [Oi, oi, that’s a problem. Let’s see, so young ladies, are there any other things that could be cashed out? Oh yeah, I can cash it in here.] – (bearded guard)

 Hmmm, this guard, is a relatively easy person to talk to, even though he looks dirty.

 But me and my subordinates are in a hurry.

 But exchanging something for money.

 Ah, speaking of which, there was a “kore” given to me by Otōsama.

 Otōsama said that we should take it in case something goes wrong.

 Maybe, it may be usable.

{“コレ” = “kore” in the raw the sentence also has quotation marks}

 [Unfortunately, if it’s something you have to redeem, this is the place.] – (bearded guard)

 That said, I hand the bag that was hanging on my waist to the bearded guard.

 The beard looks into the bag, and opens his eye wide.

 [Oh……hey!? Oh, young lady, this, isn’t this a magic stone……!? And this purity and magic………Oi Oi, how much is this bag worth……!?] – (bearded guard)

 [Yes, I got it from my father and managed to not lose it.] – (Una)

 Of course it is a lie. I didn’t have any money from the start.

 It’s a magic stone that my Otōsama gave me for when something unexpected happens, but it seems to have been a hit. As expected, Otōsama desu.

 The beard scratches his head in a very troubled manner.

 [This one has a considerable value to it………… Huh, I can’t help it. Hey, young ladies, I can’t take this. Anyway, I’ll make a temporary ID card for the time being.] – (beard)

 [Captain !?] – (subordinate guard)

 Apparently his subordinate is surprised by his actions.

 [I can’t help it. With such a magic stone, I can’t cash it in with what I have on me. Alright young girls, you’re going to the adventurer’s guild? Then, at that time, exchange this magic stone for cash. Then you can come and pay the toll afterwards.] – (beard)

 [Ah, captain!? that’s against the rules!] – (sub. guard)

 [Shut up.] – (beard)

 The young guard was silenced by his gaze, and the beard brought out three dull silver plates from the back.

 [Look, it’s a pa.s.sport. This will serve as a temporary ident.i.ty card while you’re in town. Then go to the guild and have your adventurer card reissued.] – (beard)

 [Thank you very much] – (Una)

 [Ah, young lady, I’ve got an old woman’s heart. It’s about that magic stone, don’t show it to the receptionist. Because it’s definitely suspicious. 2 or 3 pieces should get you enough money. Then come back here.] – (beard)

{老婆心 which is like just a kind and caring old lady, heres a link https://eigobu.jp/magazine/roubas.h.i.+n }

 Well, like a human would, let’s use this beard.

 Let’s learn what we can from him.

 We heard where the guild and other places are, and then we went through the gate.

 The two people behind us were fighting, but that’s none of my business.

 Here we go, finally we are able to enter the town.

 Otōsama’s orders, let’s see it completed this time!

At that time in the dungeon

The protagonist: [Eh? Going in from the front? (sounds of kneading something)] ← I’m making a golem

Ann: [It’s not like you can dig a hole and break in.]

Pururu: [Puーpuー]

{author’s notes}

I’ve included my feedback and the future in my activity report.

I hope you can see it there

{TL notes}

hey, its the translator here. i was kinda gettin burnt out on “lonely attack”. im not picking up this series, its just a side project to remind people about this book in hopes that someone else picks it up (sub29 was translating it previously and dropped it). ill be trynna get back into a normal schedule on lonely-attack, the next chapter of it is almost done.

i left the way that the “kids” call their father as j.a.panese, cuz this kinda shows their personality and idk how to differentiate things like dad/father/papa and chichi/otosama

the same goes for stuff like uncle/ojisan. cuz in english uncle sounds like one of your parents brothers, when in j.a.panese its more for an older male that isn’t necessarily related to you

desu can kinda change meaning depending on the context, a few paragraphs ago, its translated as like “as expected, otosama desu”, which is just like a polite way of saying that “otosama expected that their may be unforeseen troubles, and this magic stone will help us”. i didnt think it needs a tl note up there, but basically think of it as polite speech that connects a subject of the sentence = “otosama” and connects it to the action “as expected”. tho theres a lot more uses for it, this doesn’t apply to every use of desu

also mc speaks with『』cuz hes using telepathy to talk, just a reminder

also, i like working on lonely attack as the main project, but if there’s a dropped series that no one is working on, feel free to link it in the comments, im likely to translate a chapter or 2 when im feeling burnt out on the main series
