Chapter 16: It’s hard to recite magic incantation without messing it up. 

Good morning.

I was able to sleep soundly yesterday.

The inside of my head is strangely clear.

I was crammed with all sort of knowledge but I don't feel any headaches or fatigue at all.

Dragons sure are amazing.

I grew again in my sleep.

My body keeps getting bigger.

This might be the side effect of absorbing too much knowledge.

From what’s written about earth dragon, it will turn anything that it ingests as its own power.

It’s a species that will keep growing as it eats more and more.

I guess my body grows to sustain the large amount of knowledge that I’ve acquired.

When I got up, somehow, the lithographs I use for futon were crumbling into pieces.

Did I crush it when I was tossing and turning in sleep?

Oh well. It’s already inside of my head.

Everything’s fine.

That’s right, should I eat decently?

But that would be kind of a waste.

Now then, it’s time for a second round.

Let’s take on the other half of the dome.

The lithograph in the next section is about magic.

Magic.

A fantasy product that I thought exists only in television, games, and manga during my past life.

After all, I only knew about monsters and dungeon recently.

The lithograph of this section is filled with magic knowledge.

And it’s quite detailed too.

First of all, the fundamentals.

The magic fundamentals of this world consist of four elements.

The four major elements are fire, water, earth and wind.

Just like how monsters are divided into cla.s.ses, magic strength also has its own ranking system.

It seems that it’s divided into eight cla.s.ses with lower-cla.s.s being the rudiment of magic. As it goes up, it becomes more powerful and harder to control.

Ranks of the magic in order of lowest to highest are lower-cla.s.s, intermediate-cla.s.s, advanced-cla.s.s, General-cla.s.s, King-cla.s.s, Pope-cla.s.s, Saint-cla.s.s, Soul King-cla.s.s.

It’s the same as the monster until halfway through that is.

Generally, the eight rank Soul King-cla.s.s is the highest rank…..

However, according to this lithograph, there’s actually one more.

It’s written that the ninth rank is the『G.o.d-cla.s.s』.

This is the upper limit of the original magic.

But the word had fallen into disuse since it cannot be handled at all.

Well, that’s probably for the best.

A magic that can immediately vaporize a continent is far more worst than nuclear weapons.

This ruin is overflowed with only dangerous knowledge. I mean, a while ago there’s something about the demon and killing the G.o.d. And just now, the existent of G.o.d-cla.s.s magic.

People who practice magic is called the magician.

Based on the magic expertise, the rank of typical magician ranges from intermediate to advanced. Those who able to wield King-cla.s.s magic is considered a genius. Seemingly, a sage for the Pope-cla.s.s.

Usually, elements can be handled at most is only two.

In other words, those who can use fire and water elements cannot use other elements.

The reason why is because the brain isn’t capable to do so.

The human brain has low resistance against multiple elements. If they try to use more than two, their brain will explode.

However, in such rare cases, which is very rare, there’s genius that can handle three or even four elements.

Only one genius appears in several hundred years.

Well, there’s nothing to be worry of the special case.

It seems that only the first hero and the demon king can utilize all elements.

Not only that, the demon king can also use Soul King-cla.s.s magic.

As expected of the demon king.

Still, even they can’t handle the G.o.d-cla.s.s magic.

Speaking of which, there’s also magic called unique magic that can only be used by certain species.

The most obvious one is the Dragon Breath.

Others are slime’s 『Absorption』 and orc’s 『Roar』.

It’s unlikely for the human to possess unique magic as it’s only peculiar to the monster.

Likewise, unique magic can also be used by the demihuman.

Such as elf, dwarf, hobbit, beastmen and so on.

Although demi-human resemble greatly to human, they entirely belong to a different group as they have different physical such as pointed ears or smaller body.

Ah, by the way, this is from the story of the demon king and the brave hero.

It’s the heartwarming and fluffy episode where the hero helps the demihuman and become friends.

Oh, the hero is building his own harem. This is definitely the kind of story Hanada would like.

The elf has『Spirit Magic』, the dwarf with their『Body Strengthing』 and the beastman with the same『Roar』 as the orc.

Hmm,  I can’t really tell the difference between monster and demi-human.

Although orc does share the same physical characteristic as the human except for the pig-like head, it’s cla.s.sified as a monster.

I wonder what part of it makes it different. Is it because I’m lacking the knowledge?

I don’t understand.

Well, let’s not think too deeply about it.

Since it’s also written how to use and invoke magic, let’s practice them later.

Incidentally, according to the monster picture book (about me), it seems that I can use the earth element magic as an earth dragon.

Moreover, beside the breath, there are several kinds of dragon’s unique magic.

Let’s try each one after this.
