Chapter 183 – Maggie's Mage Sister

It was after lunch.

Maggie was collecting dishes like a sprite, that is,  as fast as her small little body would let her.

“Let me do it, Maggie, you go for a nap, and in the afternoon you'll follow Master Romm in training, and remember to do well in the training session.” Mrs. Harriet liked little Maggie, she didn't have a daughter so she took Maggie in and treated  her as her own daughter.

Because Mrs. Harriet spoke too quickly, Maggie could only understand a few snake words, such as “nap”, “Master Romm” and “training”.

But she was very clever guessing what Mrs. Harriet meant, and hurriedly replied in snake text, “Master Romm is relaxed in training, Maggie is happy, three meals! Flowers Town, great!”

They had agreed on how they would communicate with each other so everything would go on smoothly.

Mrs. Harriet smiled and her eyes were ebbing away, “It wasn't the case here before in Flower Town. We only had two meals a day, and in the winter, we only had one meal a day. It was the Lord who brought everything, made Flower Town great, and now we can eat three meals a day.”

In a time of scarcity, two meals a day are the norm, and three meals are the standard of the aristocracy.

Maggie lived in the countryside while she was in Eagle Kingdom and had two meals a day with her family. It brought great happiness to her to have three meals a day after arriving in Flower Town.

She was young and has not been arranged for farm work. All she needed to do every day was to take training cla.s.ses and female needlework cla.s.ses. In the training cla.s.s, some hardcore fighting techniques were taught, and in the female needlework cla.s.ses, serf dyers and spinners  were invited to teach printing ,dyeing, and textile skills.

Maggie learned everything very carefully.

She knew that learning a skill was very costly. It would take a lot of money to pay someone to teach you a certain craft.

She preferred to be a textile worker than be involved in the empty prospect of fighting.

By the time she finished her needlework cla.s.s, she returned to Mrs. Harriet's house where dinner was just about to start. However, this time, the atmosphere at home seemed a little more tense.

Mrs. Harriet's husband sat on the bench with a solemn expression.

Mrs. Harriet's son and daughter-in-law who have already separated were present.

It wasn't until the bread and seafood were served that Maggie learned from Harriet's daughter-in-law that it was the death anniversary of Mrs. Harriet's daughter.

Mrs. Harriet and her husband used to have a young daughter, but she became ill in the winter and along with malnutrition, died three years ago. She was only a little older than Maggie when she died.

It was the reason why Harriet and her husband were willing to take Maggie into their own home.

The next day, Harriet and her husband invited Old Grandet into their home.

With Old Grandet around, they were able to easily communicate, "Mrs. Harriet, Maggie, I hope to form a contract with you. “

“Ah…”

Maggie was caught off guard, and she shuffled about how to get back.

"The past has already happened and there's nothing we can do about it. Now I know you came to Flower Town with no family left. I had hoped it would be better if we could form a mother-child contract between you. It would be convenient as someone would take care of you like you are their child. They can also help you end your serf contract and restore your freedom. "

This was great news.

The Harriet family, which runs the grocery store in the town, was a wealthy family. She knew she would have a great future.

But she somehow faintly resisted, “Master Grandet, I have relatives … I have an older sister.”

Old Grandet frowned. He checked Maggie's ident.i.ty information and found no relatives of hers among the serfs. According to Maggie's own account, her parents were killed by mercenaries.

“You have another sister? Where is she? Why didn't you say it before?”

“I … my sister left home years ago. She said she would come back to me when she had learned magic … My sister will come back to me.

Learn magic?

Could she have been chosen by a certain Mr. Truth to become a magic apprentice?

The idea flashed by, and Old Grandet didn't care. Even though Maggie's sister actually became a mage, and it would be almost impossible to find her with Coral Island being so far from Eagle Kingdom.

Besides.

Perhaps she has died long ago in an explosion. Being in the magic industry, the probability of dying in an explosion was quite huge.

He only thought that maybe Maggie was thin-skinned and had felt embarra.s.sed, so he asked her to think about it for a few days. Harriet and his family did not mention it again, and continued to maintain the previous atmosphere.

But Maggie couldn't calm down for a long time.

——–

At the same time.

The Eagle Kingdom, thousands of miles away, was in flames.

The Iron Ridge KIngdom invaded heavily and the Eagle Kingdom was forced to resist while the Dragon Knights roamed around to support in the battlefield. On the other side, on the Eagle Kingdom's hinterland, the Grand Duchy of Sapphire's army, seemed like a locust crossing, searching for castles along the coast and plundering wealth and minerals.

Against the backdrop of the war, a combat s.h.i.+p with the Red Tulip flag slowly approached the port. Red tulip flags were also hanging from the harbor's lighthouse.

Alone.

The Tulip army naturally occupied the bridgehead  along the Eagle Kingdom coastline.

The servants of the Tulip family have long joined the servants of the fleet to organize the goods. They were all special products of the Grand Duchy of Sapphire. While there was fighting around, there was also robbery, trade and smuggling without delay. Throughout the harbour, people who were busy loading, unloading and transporting goods were running around.

In a shabby pub at the pier, a female maid with a face scarf, holding a gla.s.s looked out the window and asked, “Is this the boat of the Tulips?"

She was whispering.

Across from her, a rat-eyed thief looked at her chest pressing on her armor and responded wretchedly, "Of course, this pier and most of the surrounding castles have been occupied by the sea sword Leewilliam. The Red Tulips have become a nightmare for many n.o.bles.”

“Has Leewilliam's fleet been engaged in slavery?”

“Hey, Sapphire people are a bunch of serf traders. It would be weird if they don't sell slaves.”

“When will the fleet return?”

“It depends on how fast your mercenaries are catching serfs. If you are fast, maybe you can sell a batch of serfs back this month.”

“For you.” The maid flicked her finger in the air and a flashy silver coin spun into the air, before slipping on the table.

She did not get up to leave.

The rat-eyed thief with weird eyebrows  stretched out his hand and held the silver coin, licked his lips, picked it up greedily, held it in his palm, and smiled brightly, "My Lady, if you need any more information, please come to the Old Ford Hotel and ask for me, Mr. Three Ears……Hey, how come she suddenly disappeared?! "

When he looked up, the maid was gone.

But he didn't care. He got a silver coin in exchange for some few information. This business was exactly what he wanted.
