6 Ch 6: Names

There are readers from all around the world, and some original stories have this problem too. As a western senior myself, there has always been a few moments where I struggled with p.r.o.nouncing names.

How do we solve this problem? Make the names even longer! I would not be a legendary patriarch of the Dao of Filler if I didn't abuse this. To prove my point, there is a technique called "1 Name, 2 Words" that many authors from around the world use.

Instead of "John" you always put the full name. So, "John" would be changed to "John Smith" and so forth. It is a technique not even the most advanced readers will pick up on their radar, and it helps when multiple people are named John.

That being said, you shouldn't name your character "Johnjohnsonjohnnity Smithsonsmite" it's just not right! (That rhymed?!)

If there's anything you're still suspicious about, I'll prove it right here! The word count will be going up along with the size of this chapter, so let's do it.

"John walked towards the light. No longer had his eyes been clouded. John had realized something! There was no point in fighting for Lina City. John's home was wherever it needed to be. John could no longer be held down to a city."

That is a good sized paragraph, but what if we added his last name into the mix?

"John Smith walked towards the light. No longer had his eyes been clouded. John Smith had realized something! There was no point in fighting for Lina City. John Smith's home was wherever it needed to be. John Smith could no longer be held down to a city."

It is way longer now. There's also the fact we did not add any filler! It was quite hard to resist my urges of adding filler but, I did it.

Eh, let's have one more example! The 1 Name 2 Words technique can be put to really good use in situations with a lot of filler too!

"Rami Malek's soft footsteps could be heard throughout the hall, making them seem like a lightning tribulation. Rami Malek always thought about his long and confusing past. What was he here for? Why did he seem so cold and distant from people he had just met? There was a snow storm of questions but n.o.body to break the ice and give him answers. Holding a crumpled and folded piece of paper in his right hand, he looked at the door number and his card's number. Room 502! This is the one! Bracing himself, Rami Malek twisted the door open and.."

What a great story, too bad I'll have to cut it off here. I hope you all learned something from today's chapter and enjoyed my examples. I really do my 101% to give all you starving young daoists the best quality!

Remember kids, every word counts.
