91 Intensive Training

Zhou Lei sweated as his feet moved rapidly from arrow to arrow. Even though this was the case, he wasn't stepping on the right arrows... or the left one, for that matter.

The screen flashed red every few seconds as he made mistake after mistake. In the end, his final score was less than a percent of the total score he could get.

"Haah... Doing this for a whole hour is really exhausting."

Zhou Lei drank a water bottle he bought beforehand. It wasn't long before the water in the bottle ran out.

He wiped the sweat on his forehead as he played the song again, for the twentieth time in a row!

.....

Lin Guiying entered the arcade and headed straight for the DDR machine.

After all, this was her favorite, as it accompanied her since she was just a child.

As she got closer to the machine, she heard the music. "Someone's attempting this song again?"

She glimpsed at the person using the machine, and her eyes widened. "...It's him? No way."

With an incredulous look on her face, she looked at her watch and saw that the time was 8:48 a.m.

"This early?" Lin Guiying had a hard time believing that the man from yesterday, her cla.s.smate, was this determined to beat the song!

She saw the countless errors and mistakes he was making as the song went along, but unlike yesterday... Yeah, there's no difference.

Lin Guiying waited until the song finished, and the score was announced. It was only still less than a hundred thousandth of the potential score.

Zhou Lei creased his eyebrows before he reached into his pocket, only to discover that it was empty.

"Already?" In disbelief, Zhou Lei's hand carefully searched the insides of the pocket, to no avail.

As he got ready to buy some more tokens, a familiar face appeared in front of him.

"...Lin Hanying, you're already here?"

"Right back at you." Lin Guiying had her hand extended, her palm containing a single token.

Zhou Lei grabbed the coin and inserted it as he selected the hardest song yet again.

"You won't get anywhere with that method."

Blunt. Zhou Lei turned his head and looked at Lin Guiying peculiarly. He didn't know any other methods.

"See, with little to no experience, you're forcing yourself into the hardest difficulty. How did you think you would win this in the first place?"

And so began the two's intensive training.

Others that wanted to use the machine gave up...

.....

Shao Gingxin was in cold sweat, her phone ringing incessantly.

On the phone, a name was displayed.

"Director Yang".

She stared at the phone in fear, not daring to answer it.

Eventually, the calling stopped, making her let out a sigh of relief.

Soon after, messages bombarded her phone in place of calls.

"Where are you?" 7:49 a.m.

"Gingxin where are you" 9:32 a.m.

.....

"Shao Gingxin if you arent here in ten seconds ill fire you!!" 12:42 p.m.

"I'm begging you make an appearance..." 3:21 p.m.

A new message appeared under all of these.

"Lin Hanying".

"Srry manager got caught up in something" which was followed by a string of emojis.

Seeing the message made Shao Gingxin both mad and relieved.

.....

When the clock struck 4, Zhou Lei wiped his forehead. His legs shook from all the dancing he did.

He could barely stand up, his arms leaning against the bar behind him.

Sweat covered his whole body, especially since he wore a jacket in an already hot environment.

As he stared at the score in front of him, Zhou Lei let out a sigh of relief.

He was already halfway from perfecting the song.

Of course, it just got harder and harder as the score went up. The higher the score, the harder it was to raise it.

It was exponentially getting more difficult.

"Four days left..." Zhou Lei shook his head and walked off the machine.

His legs couldn't handle it anymore. As he walked out of the arcade, he removed his jacket, but kept the facemask, inadvertently revealing a tank top stuck to his newly formed abs due to the sweat.

"Ah, this is so embarra.s.sing..." With that thought in mind, Zhou Lei hastened his pace.
