20 Master Chef Book

Zhou Lei was curious as to why his mother called him over.

'What the heck?!' Zhou Xiang was still not used to the abrupt change of her son's voice. She suppressed her surprised expression and told him directly.

"Starting tomorrow, you will cook."

"What?!" Surprised, Zhou Lei reacted violently. Why was the role of being cook getting pa.s.sed to him?

Zhou Jiahao heard this as well, and he was rather displeased. When his wife said that she would cook this time, he got a bit excited since his wife's cooking tasted really good, at least to him.

Now that he discovered that it would only be for today, he couldn't help but be a little disappointed.

There was also the fact that Zhou Lei had no experience in cooking, so no one could expect much from him, or his cooking.

"Now watch me closely, okay? I'll only teach you this once." Zhou Xiang continued talking without minding both her husband's drastic change in his facial expressions, and their son's violent reaction to her command.

With the words from his mother, Zhou Lei's mood lightened a bit. He got curious as to what his mother was going to cook since she boldly told him to watch closely.

Ignoring her son, who was still moderately angry, she grabbed the main ingredients for her dish. Eggs, uhh... that's pretty much it.

The dinner for today was Sunny-Side Up!

Zhou Lei was dumbfounded.

'Watch you closely, you say? Teach me only once, you say!?' Zhou Lei didn't even bother to glance at his mother cooking an egg.

Zhou Xiang finally finished and turned her head to look at her son, before she opened her mouth. "Now, did you understand?"

Before his mother, Zhou Lei could only helplessly nod. He obviously understood, cooking an egg is as easy as sleeping or eating! Of course, it was only for this recipe of egg-cooking.

"Okay, cook one for me."

"Haah..." Zhou Lei sighed. He then grabbed an egg slowly and cracked it before putting it on the pan.

Tss...

The egg was frying.

.....

After dinner, Zhou Lei returned to his room, and he decided to try his luck on the lottery again. If System crashed again, and the stats he upgraded weren't saved, he could always just upgrade them.

Zhou Lei used one lottery ticket. Ting! The roulette started spinning.

While the roulette was spinning, he was silent the whole time. He didn't want it to land on the Useless category...

The roulette slowed down before it stopped completely, in the second largest category, the "One-Time Use" category.

The prize was "Master Chef Book - How to Become a Master Chef in Just One Second! By: System".

As Zhou Lei was reading the t.i.tle of the book, his expressions changed.

'Ooh, how convenient...'

'One second?! If this is misleading, I'll sue you!'

'F**k! You didn't need to put your name on it, System...'

After Zhou Lei read the book, he hesitantly received the prize, antic.i.p.ating System's crash.

Who knew that it wouldn't crash this time?

Zhou Lei felt quite happy that the crash didn't happen. He received the book and retrieved it from his inventory.

The book landed on his hands. It was there... a one-page book.

'No wonder System said it would only take one second.'

The book cover looked elegant, as there was even a fake publis.h.i.+ng company called "System Publis.h.i.+ng" plastered all over it! There was also the necessary "#1 New York Bestseller" on it.

Eventually, after careful examination of every detail on the book cover, Zhou Lei decided to open it. Inside, there was a single page. A blank one at that.

'Huh?'

Zhou Lei turned the page. At the back of it, he saw a single word.

"Congratulations."

Suddenly, the book glowed, and countless letters and numbers flowed out of the single page! Those letters and numbers crashed onto Zhou Lei's forehead, and a.s.similated inside his brain!

Zhou Lei felt nauseous as he learned a tremendous amount of knowledge in a short amount of time - one second.

Finally, letters and numbers stopped flowing out of the single page. The book, which was in Zhou Lei's hands, turned into dust.

"Aah... that hurt like h.e.l.l...!"
