Chapter 147 - Lining Up For Food [1]

Not one of the three junior secretaries was able to reply to Tanaga's question because of the nervousness. Etsuko was the first to be relieved, and she stood up to pay respect to their boss.

"Good afternoon sir Jones!" She greeted with a serious look on her face, and then she told him what she knew.

"We met Miss Gusman with your head of security, Mr. Tiny. Based on my observation. They were on their way to the canteen." Etsuko said while standing proud and tall of herself and waiting for Tananga to praise her.

However, instead of Tanaga praising her... He just turned away and left without saying goodbye.

Etsuko was reluctant to sit back and continue eating.  She was devastated that her boss didn't even glance at her.  Like she never existed at all...

Aiko and Fumika, on the other hand, were relieved when Tanaga left. They both sat back down and continued eating while gossipping about company affairs.

'Did you see Sir's face? It was red in anger, and the smoke was coming out of his ears. Why do you think he's acting that way? "Aiko asked her two companions.

"Hmph! Leave them alone, why don't we just let it go! It's not our fault, and his b.u.t.t is cracking up.  Let him fire his new a.s.sistant if he wants too!" Fumika said before turning her attention to the food to resumed eating since it's about the end of their lunch hour

Tanaga has to return to his office because he had forgotten his cellphone in a hurry. He saw it over the desk and quickly grab it to make a call to Ashley.

However, Ashley didn't bring her cellphone with her as she left it in her temporary working station.  While he was making the call, he saw Ashley's cellphone light was blinking. "What in the ..."  Tanaga held his neck and gasped as his blood pressure rose again.

"What in the heck is wrong with my wife, other people could not live without their cellphone. In the meantime, she always leaves hers all over the place. I'm going to have to warn her about this bad habit." Tanaga said to himself while he decided to call Tiny next.

When Tiny's cellphone buzzed, they were in line, already preparing to order food. He quickly looked at who was calling before answering. "Sir! You called!" Tiny replied without a word of welcome or h.e.l.lo to his boss.

"Are you with your ma'am, and you're in the Cafeteria? Are you just going to get food, or are you eating there?" Tanaga's asking is because of his stomach began aching from hunger.

"Sir, of course ... What do you think? Of course, to get some food for you." Tiny answered his boss sarcastically without fear.

"Alas! The way you reply sounds like you have something to  be proud of then!" Tanaga growled.

Tiny was speechless for a moment.  He also realized that he had acted impulsively, and curtly replied to him.  That's because he was thinking that Ashley could protect him from getting fired.  However, he felt ashamed of his att.i.tude and asked for Tanaga's forgiveness.

"Sorry, sir!  I got out on the wrong side of the bed today."  With the hope that his boss would believe him.

"Where is Ashley? Let me speak to her." He asked while he was on the way out of his office.

Tiny quickly handed the phone to Ashley, "  Hi!  I'm in the line already, are you hungry already?"  She asked without thinking.

Ashley had forgotten that they are in the office, and they are supposed to be employee, employer relations.h.i.+p, and not a couple.  She kept on speaking while in line and looking at the row of food that she could choose from.

"What would you like?  There's sus.h.i.+, rolls, and there's also..."  She wasn't able to finish what she was saying because the server in the line was speaking with her with a scowl on her face.

"Excuse me!  If you're not getting anything, could you please!  Get out of the line, for there's still a lot of other employees that needed to eat before the lunchtime is over."  She said it curtly while acting high and mighty.

Tiny was going to say something, but Ashley was quick to hold on to his arms and stopped him.  " It's alright!  No need!"  She whispered while she has the palm of her hands, covering the speaker part of the phone.

Unknown to the two that Tanaga has arrived at the cafeteria and he went straight to were they at without regarding his employees that were in the line waiting to get some food.  Therefore, he heard the way the line server had spoken to Ashley.

He didn't like it at all, not thinking that no one knows that Ashley is his wife.  His brows raised and touched the bridge of his nose as a headache began forming from hunger.

When one of the new hires saw that Tanaga cut the line, he didn't bother to look who the person was and complained without thinking.

"Excuse me!  I don't think it right that you can just cut the line just like that!  We had been here a while, why don't you wait for your turn!"  The person right behind Tiny said loud enough for everyone in inside the cafeteria to hear.

"Yea!  It's unfair!  Your acting high and mighty, like you, own this cafeteria!  Why don't you go back to the end of the line just like the rest of us are doing!"  Another employee in the line shouted at Tanaga.

One of the employees in the line is the building receptionist and knew who Tanaga is.  At first, she wasn't sure because Tanaga never went down there to eat at the cafeteria.  If he wanted some food, they usually take it up to him in his office.

After carefully looking over once more, she's now sure that its none other than their own CEO was the one who just cut the line.  She's was trying to stop the co-worker from continuing to yell out loud.  However, he was determined to embarra.s.s the person that had cut the line.  Not knowing It's their boss... The one that owns the whole building and the cafeteria as he said...
