6 One Help I Would Never Wan

"…..and Fria. Oh, and Deyla too. Anyway, as you may have guessed, others just saw me as a light, like you do just a while ago."

Wei then immediately spoke as if he was scared Luke will start talking non-stop again, "I told you his name right from the start, can't you remember?"

I searched through my memories and found nothing. I just shook my head, making him think in turn. Meanwhile, Luke looked at me, then at Wei, then back at me again before settling his eyes on Wei's microphones.

"If she can't remember then you must remembered wrong, Wei. Do what you need to do now, we'll go for rounds again." Luke said before he played with Wei's microphones. Wei and I looked at each other, having the same thoughts, before finally nodding at what Luke said.

"Let's go to my cubicle, then." I told Wei. He just nodded and grabbed his favorite microphone.

I wanted to tell Wei my thoughts but for some reason, I felt like we were being watched as we walked through the aisle.

Once we reached my cubicle, I immediately closed the s.p.a.ce around us and blocked every single element that wanted to enter, especially sound. Wei's forehead creased a bit in confusion but he just let me do what I wanted and silently sat on my chair.

Oh, I never mentioned this to you. There are five things considered to be the main elements: s.p.a.ce, sound, mind, heart and time, which is considered to be void here in this dimension.

Each 'element' has its own function and the only thing they all have in common is that they are utilized by us, whether it be you who's still there in the living dimension or me who's here in this unnamed dimension.

Well, I really don't want to bore you with details so I guess I'll just mention and discuss it bit by bit from time to time.

Anyway, just in case you were wondering, we can close the s.p.a.ce around our 'territory' or cubicle just like how you do it with a door, except we don't do it physically, since we are souls. Instead, we use the element 'mind' to do it.

Also, blocking the element 'sound' is an important part of closing a s.p.a.ce. Think of it this way: inside a soundproofed room, you, the one inside the room, can't hear anything from the outside. Because of this, you are rea.s.sured that those outside the room also won't be able to hear anything you say from inside.

a.s.sured that I can now speak freely, I sat on the small stool placed at the corner and told Wei what I badly wanted to say earlier.

"I really can't remember anything…"

Wei kept his silence while staring hard at me. After a while, he just let out a sigh and started busying himself with his microphone. Seeing that he wasn't in the mood to chat [even though this was the rare moments when I can speak], I just started thinking of a plot and pushed my other worries aside.

I still need to prioritize my job.

Since this book will be about life, being someone who already experienced death, I really wonder what the meaning of life is.

Are you considered living if you know how to breathe? Was I considered dead when my physical body ceased to exist?

Is living all about existing in Earth?

As many questions and ideas pa.s.sed through my head, the plot of the book "Life in the Middle" was slowly forming in my mind.

Silently celebrating my progress, Wei suddenly said, "It's about life's meaning, right?"

I looked at him, my face filled with questions. He low-key reminded me that I can talk by pointing at his lips but since he understood what I wanted to say, he just answered, "I mean the book. It's about life."

It sounded more like a statement rather than a question but I still nodded.

"The Tom Hiddleston quote you based your story on reminded me so much of Luke. Try asking him for help, he may have the answers to the questions you have."

"Can you read minds?" I asked in disbelief. How did he know that my mind was filled with so many questions right now?

"It's not about being able to read minds, it's simply your face that is easy to read." He said while chuckling amusedly.

Well, if you can't speak and you want to tell someone something, it's inevitable that your facial expression would be easy to read, duh!

After focusing on the wrong things again, I silently considered his suggestion of talking to Luke.

Wait. Am I going crazy?
