4 One More Dilemma

And it's probably not a good one.

"We have an announcement, ladies and gentlemen: Austin has left."

Oh never mind, it's a good news.

No, don't get me wrong, it's not that I hate him or something. I actually asked for his help before – he's the 'Physician' I was looking for when I first met Reidn. It's just that, whenever somebody leaves this dimension, it means that he/she finally has a reason to leave which is equivalent to having no regrets and as a soul, nothing is more joyful than knowing that somebody finally go to where they belong, whether it's up or down.

Well, it's not like we know where they went unless we also leave that's why we're envious as well as happy for them.

Because of these emotions, I felt a spark of inspiration inside me which was a bit weird. As far as I observed, I didn't need this kind of encouragement to write unless…

Unless I'm going to write a story again. And no, that's not a happy occasion.

~~

One thing I absolutely hate when writing a story is that I'd have to create a plot for it. And yes, there are different signs when I'm going to write a certain something.

For example, a bolt of inspiration when it is a story. Another sign would be tons of information flowing through my head if it's a review or similar to that.

As I may have said, I hate writing stories, specifically novels the most. Aside from the fact that creating a plot is troublesome, it is extremely bothering when the story still doesn't make sense once it reached the middle part, although, I know that it will automatically be fixed by my 'job'.

Still, I hate writing these happily-ever-afters. You might be thinking, I can still write a tragedy? That, in itself, would be a tragedy for me. It's even harder to think of a plot for that. But well, it's already set in stone that I'll write a novel so I might as well as do it.

Remembering that I had a notebook of quotes about life, thanks to Reidn, I immediately read it word for word to decide what will be my main subject.

Finally, I found a suitable quote. It was said by Tom Hiddleston: "We all have two lives. The second one starts when we realize we only have one."

Deym, I thought I'd forever be stuck with finding one. Inspired by the quote, I decided that the t.i.tle would be "Life in the Middle".

Now, I have a t.i.tle and a subject! All that's left for planning would be the…

The plot.

DEEEEEEEEEYYYYM

Fine, I'll just start thinking of one!

As I got immersed in my thoughts, Reidn sneaked into my cubicle. He must have thought I would be shocked since Ethan always does that to him but well, he must have forgotten that unless we were unintentionally immersed in our jobs, that feat would be impossible.

I just let him be, though. I felt a little guilty about how I rudely made him leave my cubicle earlier. Just when he was about to shout, the light suddenly appeared in front of me, shocking him in return. Oh, what an irony.

Embarra.s.sed, he glared at the light and ran back to his cubicle in the next column. The light was quite entertained, making itself glow a little brighter. When it saw how I turned to protect my eyes, it immediately went back to its original glow.

The light beckoned me to follow it towards somewhere and I obediently followed - I don't want to p.i.s.s it off like Reidn did earlier.

For reasons I don't know, it stopped right in front of Wei's cubicle. I know that it's his cubicle since I always hang out here to play with his microphones – they're really fascinating and cool. Try it if you ever come here!

Anyway, the light suddenly disappeared when I stepped inside Wei's cubicle. Wei isn't here, so why did the light bring me here then disappear?

Knowing that no one would answer nor hear my question, I sat comfortably on Wei's chair and let my eyes wander his cubicle, just like I always do when I'm here.

Ever since I came in this dimension, Wei is my friend. He's the first one who welcomed me with, well, his announcement. He was, like, the right hand of the light.

I always see them together when the light is not having trouble with the other workers and it also looked like the light was the one instructing him on the announcements. But well, it's not my business so I wouldn't talk further about that.

Still, where had the light gone?
