Li Bingbing's indifference to Mengmeng went on for days until the little girl started feeling jealous of her own brother since he was getting all the attention of his mother.

"Li Bingbing, can we talk for a moment?" Lu Xian Yu approached her.

Li Bingbing raised her head and looked at him, "Okay." She stood up and followed Lu Xian Yu outside of the children's playroom. "I actually want to talk with you as well."

"Then you can tell me about it first."

Li Bingbing's face was serious as she stared at Lu Xian Yu before she opened her mouth, "Let me get things straight, I really appreciate that you've been taking care of us but I think it is enough. You may be my guest in this place but, that is all you are, I want you to leave."

Leave?

"I can take care of the children myself."

Lu Xian Yu scoffed, "Take care? You've been taking care of one child while ignoring the other."

"It is none of your business," she spat coldly.

"None of my business? Are you seriously saying that?" He glared at her, "Mengjie is my daughter!"

Without any hesitation seen in her, she replied, "Then you can take her with you."

In his anger, Lu Xian Yu punched the wall behind her, "Bullsh*t!"

Li Bingbing didn't blink once even when she saw the punch coming, it was as if she turned into a different person, she didn't care if it wasn't about her son, her heart turned cold towards others.

"It would be for the best if you can leave tonight."

Lu Xian Yu lowered her head. He knew that he was failing in making her open to himself, he knew that it was going to be hard, but...

"No."

She narrowed her eyes, "If you refuse to leave, I will call the police."

He looked at her and a dangerous smirk was seen on his lips, "Will you now?"

"I am not joking around, Lu Xian Yu."

"So am I." He straightened himself, "I will not be going anywhere, that's final." He turned and walked away from her.

Why was he so stubborn?

She clenched her fists tight and glared at his back.

In the end, Li Bingbing wasn't able to do anything about Lu Xian Yu.

Her treatment to everybody was the same, except for her son. Even if Lu Xian Yu tried to take a step closer to her, she would end up pus.h.i.+ng him away.

Days turned into weeks and weeks into months. There were times where Lu Xian Yu would leave from her place because of his work as an a.s.sa.s.sin. He would fly to different countries and would come back to them after a few weeks and there were times where his absence from the family was for a few months. Meanwhile, to earn money, Li Bingbing returned to being a hired hacker.

She was just trying to distract herself from the pain she was still feeling because of the loss of the man she loved. She felt like an empty vessel and she would only find comfort whenever she saw Qinqing.

Mengmeng would try to get her mother's attention but she was only given attention whenever she played with Qinqing.

There were times where she started ignoring her brother but in the end, she couldn't resist her love for her little brother.

The family may seem well from the outside but it was slowly crumbling from the inside.

Li Bingbing would usually sleep in Qinqing's room and when Mengmeng found out of it, she started sleeping in her brother's room just to be able to be with her mother.

The reason why she would sleep in her children's room, was because there were times where Li Bingbing felt so afraid of sleeping in the room that she shared with Xia Sinian. She was afraid of feeling the intense pain she felt when Xia Sinian died, she was afraid of remembering those days.

The house felt lacking ever since Xia Sinian left them but whenever Lu Xian Yu would come back from his work, the house was filled with liveliness.

It was late at night when Lu Xian Yu returned to Li Bingbing's place, the first thing he did was to check on the children's room, although this time, he didn't saw Li Bingbing there.

Was she still awake?

He went and looked for her only to find her in the room that she shared with Xia Sinian, drinking. The strong scent of alcohol entered his nostrils and that made him frown.

Her long hair was in a mess and she was staring into her wedding photo with her husband. She looked so sad but she wasn't crying. No, she never cried ever since she fainted in the hospital.

When Li Bingbing felt someone looking at her, she lazily turned her eyes towards the door. "Oh... you're back."

He walked toward her and took the can of beer from her, "Why are you getting yourself drunk at this time? Tomorrow is your daughter's birthday, it is not the time to do this."

Li Bingbing ignored him, instead, she climbed into the bed and lied down there.

"Li Bingbing."

"Go away!"

Lu Xian Yu sighed in defeat. As he started picking up the empty cans, he realized something. It was also actually Xia Sinian's death anniversary. Time flew so fast that he didn't realize that a year has already pa.s.sed.
