Chapter 152 - Didn't She Promise Him?

Things she used to find funny now only caused a deepening of the pain. He should have been there to laugh with her, or at her, or just near her. He should be making his espressos in that d.a.m.n expensive machine and complaining about the price of eggs. But most of all he should be there to hug her goodnight and kiss her before he left for work. She missed all that. Now there was just a graveyard, a stone that bore his name and his cold body beneath the soil.

Every memory played like a song in her head, repeating itself for what seemed like forever. She felt lost mostly because she had lost a big part of her, a part where she couldn't get back.

Li Bingbing stood there for hours. Her children were already taken by Xia Sinian's grandparents and the only ones left in the cemetery were Lu Xian Yu, his brother, and Xia Meilin.

Xia Meilin had to say goodbye to her only brother. All those times where they would just talk and laugh and do normal things that siblings would do was never going to happen again. Ever since they lost their parents, it was her brother who took care of her even if he knew that she was just his half-sister.

Yes, Xia Sinian knew that Xia Meilin was not his mother's child. Yong Sining, Xia Sinian's mother would always tell him that Xia Meilin was not his real sister ever since Xia Meilin was taken in the Xia family and placed to Yong Sining's care.

Who would want to take care of a child that was born by her husband's betrayal?

Yong Sining was cold at the child first, she even tried to distance Xia Sinian and poison his mind but... she slowly accepted the child after Ji Ruo has spoken to her.

It was hard for Yong Sining but when she saw the innocent child who was yearning for love, she finally gave in.

Ever since he was young, Xia Sinian had always been a kind brother. He would play and tell stories to his sister.

Xia Sinian never showed hate towards her even until they grew up. He was such a kind and loving brother.

She has this feeling in her chest where it just felt empty, like a black hole, pitch black and barren.

Just like Li Bingbing, Xia Meilin was in deep agony.

Xia Sinian had been generous with his smiles and free with his hugs. They were never going to see him smile at them or feel his warm hugs.

Lu Yifeng placed his hand on Xia Meilin's shoulder, "Meilin."

Xia Meilin knew it was time to go. She turned to Li Bingbing, she wiped her tears before she walked towards her best friend. She held her hand and squeezed it a bit, "Bingbing, we're taking our leave first."

She didn't hear a response from her, Li Bingbing was just blankly staring at the stone that bore her husband's name.

Even if Xia Meilin wanted to comfort her, she knew that it wasn't going to be easy. Xia Sinian was important for both of them, the only difference was that, Xia Sinian was Li Bingbing's husband.

The pain that they were feeling... was it different?

Xia Meilin turned to Lu Yifeng, she couldn't imagine not having him in his life as well.

"If brother was here... he wouldn't want to see you like this because of him, Bingbing."

Li Bingbing was still quiet. Seeing that Li Bingbing was going to ignore her, Xia Meilin turned to Lu Xian Yu, "Please take care of her."

Lu Xian Yu gave her a quiet nod.

After that, Xia Meilin and Lu Yifeng finally left the two there.

When Lu Xian Yu noticed that it was already sunset, he walked toward Li Bingbing who remained at the same spot. "Bibi, let's go home."

Just like how she treated Xia Meilin, she ignored him.

Lu Xian Yu clenched his fists tight, it hurts to know how much she cared for the other man. He felt like... he has totally lost her at that moment.

Xia Sinian, why did he took Li Bingbing's heart with him when he died? It was unfair.

He held her shoulders and made her face him, "Bibi."

Lu Xian Yu stared sadly at her. He couldn't get angry at her for ignoring him or for not loving him instead. The woman in front of him was broken.

Li Bingbing stared at Lu Xian Yu with emptiness in her eyes.

Lu Xian Yu tried to give her a smile, "Let's go home."

Home? It wasn't going to be home if Xia Sinian wasn't there.

He pulled her into a hug, "I know it's hard... but think of your children, they need you."

When he said that, it was as if she heard Xia Sinian's voice beside her ear, asking her to promise him that she would take care of their children.

No, it wasn't his voice. It was her memory of that time.

Didn't she promise him?

"Okay... let's go home."

Lu Xian Yu felt relieved when he finally heard something from her. He pulled away from the hug before he held her hand, "Let's go."
