"So... you were saying..." he started.

"Oh!... right... um... it wasn't your fault, what happened to Solith and his family" She said as she fiddled with her hair, her other hand behind her back.

Zhao Wei sighed, "As far as I know, they were happy and together before I came around... I put the food into their hands, even if the n.o.bles of your country were cruel, nothing could've happened to them if the reason wasn't there... I killed them..." he spoke softly.

"You did something out of kindness... It's this world that twists it around... But I think it'd be a shame if you lost your heart because of it..." As she spoke, her hand landed on his head, brus.h.i.+ng his hair, the lithe fingers pressed against his scalp and ran backwards. The gesture felt a little forced and awkward, but it gave him a little peace back.

He looked up at her, she was still holding his hair but her eyes were darting around, as if nervous if anyone saw them, a slight blush running through her cheeks. After some time she finally looked down to see him staring at her, her face went red and her hand withdrew. "S..Sorry, it's just something my mom used to do...you know... when she was around... I just thought it'll..."

"Thanks Kitsi," a tired smile ran across his face. But his eyes were clear and pure like a child's, her face turned an even deeper shade, "that's not fair..." she muttered under her breath, making sure he didn't hear it.

He picked himself up after a few more seconds, "What are you going to do now?" She asked.

"To be honest, I think I'm going to rest for once..." he replied, stopping in his tracks. "Please find his daughter and take care of her."

"You're not going to meet her?..."

"I'm not sure I can face her... I mean... I.."

"Don't worry about it, we'll figure something out..." Kitsi stopped him, "You try to have a good rest".

Once he returned to his carriage he really did just drop on his mattress next to Panda and Myra. Myra being the "friend" he asked to come back. Checking on Panda he saw that now more than a half of the left side of her body was black. The fur were like bristles compared to the white side, it was almost like two organisms living in the same body.

He'd been up for four days and nights straight, he was exhausted to the limit. And yet sleep didn't come to him. His heart was restless as he thought about everything that happened so far... he reminisced about the old world. It seemed like a lifetime ago. If he thought about the things he considered problems then, he couldn't help but laugh.

He thought his past self was a child, trying to take on the world. Today he'd experienced first hand what being thrown into the middle of it all looked like, and though his nerves and the adrenaline from the moment kept him steady and stable infront of all those people, he was drained of everything.

If there was one thing he knew, it was that playing those political games wasn't where he would put himself. This time was a one time thing, next time, he wouldn't ever join if he could help it. But too bad for him, now the heads in the Dracarian kingdom were all turned towards him.

After a few hours inside, the meeting came to a close. Most of the support fell towards Eyisha as he had personally put her in charge of his storage. Both the elders and n.o.bles could only give way to gain a little.

"Found her?" Eyisha asked Kitsi restlessly.

"Yes, some of her neighbors had kept her inside when the incident occurred," Kitsi replied formally, "she doesn't seem to know anything that happened...."

"What about him?"

"What about 'him'?" Kitsi suddenly became fl.u.s.tered.

"What's he going to do from now on? judging by the company he keeps I doubt he would refuse taking in the girl as well" Eyisha stated, "Or were you thinking of something else when I asked that question~" she teased.

Kitsi turned her head away, swinging her silver hair infront of her to block the princess's view. "I'm not sure he's cut out to raise a little girl right now.... it's a shame though."

"A shame?..." Eyisha looked at her curiously.

"He's too kind for this world, to do the things he does..." Kitsi reminded her solemnly, "it makes you wonder if kindness is a sin as well..."

"...yes, that is a shame." Eyisha chimed in, contemplating the statement. "If that's the case then maybe, I can put her in more experienced hands..."

In the veterans bar, two men sat next to each other as Myr attended them.

"I haven't seen you both about for some time...." Guru Pitka told Chora.

Chora could only playfully stir his drink infront of his teacher, "Yeah, I hadn't left these walls since then..." as he said this he turned to look out the window at a hill with a grave stone on top.

Myr wiped a few gla.s.ses and set them on the counter. "What about you Guru... you don't seem to be getting older."

"Hohohoho!! You always knew how to flatter me... I've just been trying to pa.s.s the days... but recently I've found an interest in teaching again."

"Oh, someone caught your eye?" She asked.

"Something like that, he's quite interesting as I'm sure your husband should have noticed just now in the council."

Chora just answered with a "Hmm..."
