46 Delay

Zhao Wei didn't think it would be this effective. Some of the late comers were lucky that they didn't join the scramble which potentially saved their lives. No more beasts joined the fight as the flooding of the scent of blood scared them away.

Zhao Wei began lobbing spears down at a moderate pace. He could've just dropped the spears and gravity would've done the rest, but he also wanted to practice his aim. Additionally, he couldn't kill them too fast as he needed them to clear the last 0.5 kilometer of the traps he himself set.

At this point he felt like b*tman. Other cla.s.ses would be stronger in a frontal, but with prep time, he could beat everyone, even s**erman. None of the beasts could even touch the base of the hill. Once they pa.s.sed the minefield of traps they were riddled with so many scars from the modified bear traps and fighting that they'd die of blood loss in a few minutes, that was if Zhao Wei didn't show mercy and end their suffering earlier with the good throw of a spear.

In total there were more than six hundred beasts killed below. He was a little disappointed that he didn't get to train his aim very much but if any person heard him say this, they'd be instantly p.i.s.sed off.

He used only 88 spears in total and countless traps. But with the amount of beast down there he'd be able to make 200 spears from the big beast's bones alone and several hundred more if he took from the medium sized beasts.

The first thing he did as he went down was take out a knife and stab into the bodies before licking the knife. He was trying to maximize his pa.s.sive. With so many beasts, even if the growth was only 0.01 points per beasts he'd get a few points, not to mention that the growth was random.

Before he overestimated how hard he'd have to fight to clear the beast horde. But this time he'd underestimated how hard it was to harvest the benefits. By 50 beasts or so, he had licked blood until his tongue was raw.

So he switched to collecting the blood into a flask before drinking them altogether. It became more efficient, but it still took until 20 hours of the day period had pa.s.sed to complete the job. After that, he begun to harvest them for materials.

Though he was leaving, it wouldn't feel very good to leave all this finished materials. He stayed on the spot and process the bodies while Myra came back and forth while dragging their bodies to him.

Originally the vehicle still had some moving room in the back, but after all this he had to get rid of it to extend the storage and even then he still didn't have enough s.p.a.ce to put in all the stuff in. At the end, his trip became delayed for 3 days as he got about 60% of the meat smoked and about 80% of the materials from all the beasts he thought usable.

For some reason, now the vehicle had an extension of another cart in the back acting as another storage. By this point he was pretty sure he and Myra needed to pull this thing together to travel far distances.

Loading it all up, Zhao Wei separated the hard and soft materials into the different compartments while he laid several bone spears around the deck for quick access just in case. He set several traps on the walls of the vehicle, even if it didn't have any defensive equipment his traps would give him or at least Myra time to react to any situation that arose.

Once all the prep was done, Zhao Wei left the vehicle again. He didn't bring anything with him but a pack of oil he'd been collecting for some time. Looking at the hill, Zhao Wei climbed up for what he thought could be the last time.

(Zhao Wei's thoughts)

I am back here again, been here everyday. It seems so long ago that I was frightened of all my surroundings.

This place was the only thing keeping me safe, or at least in my head it did.

And yet even now I'm still afraid, I'm still unsure.

Maybe that's why this needs to be done. So I don't turn back from facing the fears to stay where there's comfort.

I don't want to do this, the World keeps changing and I'm not sure where that change will bring me. I might never find her and this place would be my only memento.

But even then, if I find that at the end when the ground takes my ashes with it and I finally lay to rest all the fears and worries.

I might stay fulfilled.

Through the pain and the horrors I still have light to which I yearn. Which pulls my heart even when my flesh can no longer stand.

If I stop to wait and ponder over the comforts, if I allow myself to lapse into the sweet embrace of rest and peace. Should I lose the light altogether? and at this point even if I kept my breathe, would there still be meaning to breathe?

Probably not.

With that thought Zhao Wei picked the very last match stick he'd saved. Between his fingers the ignition hovered over the rough surface of the box. He closed his eyes and his fingers flicked the stick without any hesitation. The small tongue of flame reached the ground, but it didn't take long for it to ignite an unstoppable path towards the final goal and set the world on fire. When he opened his eyes he began his first step.
