42 Aftermath

Bite marks ran across either shoulders, a claw mark ran all the way down his back. One of his most memorable scars was still the gash right under his ribs he received when he first met Panda which now looked like a circular scar. The skin on the whole right section of his body as well as his left hand up to his wrist had a darker tone from the rest of his body.

Each of these fights and each of these scars taught him something new. Every bite taught him the gaps in his defense, every blow revealed the weakness in his body, every scratch strained the limit of his senses, that one fight taught him that he had to stop fighting like a human.

Scratching his beard which now swallowed his hand whole, he walked up next to a tree. Up until all his attributes reached 10 he had done basic physical training. But after that, he felt like he'd need to walk around with giant stone pillars to drain himself even after a whole day.

He put his right leg behind, angling it just slightly outwards from his body, left foot straight at the tree. Then he began, left jab, left foot forward, right strike, right foot pivot.

Each movement was incredibly slow and it could be seen that all his muscles were tense the whole time straining against each other without a hint of acceleration. When his fists. .h.i.t the tree, they'd just tap it. But if one strained themselves they'd see a wisp of wind flow from the point of impact outwards and an indentation could be seen in the body of the tree

He'd continue this boring movement for 5 hour before switching to hooks and then another 5 for uppercuts. It looked quite boring but if the perspective changed to view the scenery around him as a whole, they'd realize that for about a 2 kilometer radius around the hill not a single standing tree was in sight.

Once he was done, he climb back up the hill. He no longer needed the rope to pull himself up, now he moved up almost like a monkey through the trees. Even in the jungle he could move through the terrain like fish in water, any surface was a place for him to stand on. If he so much as wanted to he could run on all fours or even just his hands. It was safe to say he was one of the beasts in this forest now.

Like many other areas of the forest, the hill was acknowledged by the other beasts as his territory. Most of them would move around it while the kings of other territories would seldom leave their areas. Besides, he'd set traps all around his hill, and with the trees cleared, any beast who got caught would be a sitting duck for a spear falling from several kilometers above them.

With the velocity of his current throws combined with the pull of gravity and it's own weight and acceleration the spear wouldn't be any weaker than a rocket launcher on impact. This was quite difficult on Zhao Wei as well as the spears from wood or even weaker beast would break before reaching the target and even if it did reach the damage would lessen due to the const.i.tution breaking down after breaking the sound barrier.

Zhao Wei didn't know what his stats were anymore as beside the stats in his screen all the levels would be replaced with N/A. This happened after his match with the Clay Eaters, it was either that he'd overdrawn the energy capacity of the system placed in him, or his capabilities mixed with his skills would give him varying levels of ability.

But now, with his training, he could match most middle sized beasts head on without the use of traps and tactics and still keep his life although he was still injured frequently due to the stat difference.

It wasn't as though he'd completely left his planning side. But he knew that purely relying on tactics could only cover him until so far, he still needed to further his personal combat skills in order ensure his living. Otherwise, when he left his area, he wouldn't be able to deal with sudden beast encounters where he couldn't plan before hand. Now whenever he left to hunt, he'd always alternate his hunting styles.

What he felt that right now, in comparison to the attributes of medium beasts, he had little more than half the value in the attributes such as strength, durability and speed. For his Vitality and Mentality however, he was pretty sure they were much higher compared to the others.

The only attributes he had been able to see were his resistances, after eating so many beasts he had gained a value of at least 2 in his lowest resistance and a value of 7 for both his Toxin and Cold resistances due to continued exposure to them everyday. By now, Zhao Wei would continue through the night, but he'd still s.h.i.+ver continuously as he still felt the cold though he could live in it where as the Death Wish Toxin only worked to numb him a little even with increased dosage.

Due to the obvious jump in his mentality, he was able to split his energy stream into two, it charged them both simultaneously although at a slower rate as it took about 3 days to charge the modified bear trap which he registered in the system as the Bite trap, and at least half a day for each Wrap Trap.

Additionally, he began to be able to perceive the flow of energy in immaterial objects such as rocks, trees, fire and water though he hadn't understood the applications of it.

Today he checked his status screen again and could only feel disappointed again as no status was shown on it like every other day.
