292 Nice Toys

But between how many bullets was shot before that guy died and the amount that Grendolyn had loaded out when she confronted them, for a veteran, it was easy to figure that she had no ammo left.

Even Grendolyn had probably noticed due to the change in the gun's weight. Right then and there, as he asked her to pull the trigger, Grendolyn began to sweat like crazy.

There were two ways to go about this right now, continue the bluff, on the off chance that he hadn't really noticed the situation or give up the ruse. Option one was becoming more dismal by the second as his men had probably taken the hint as their hands on their own weapons tightened.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

None of them knew what it was.

It roared like it was alive, with four legs that rolled and pushed it forward. The most bizarre part was that it was able to eat humans who willingly entered it and yet did not kill them.

On it's back was a tail like a scorpion, but instead of stinging, it rained down fire like those little weapons the other held.

3 of them were running through the battlefield.

Ode's countenance turned grim, it was exactly like the one Grendolyn and Jeff had come in when they ran over the bear. In fact, these things looked a whole lot better than that Gwen car thing.

If they were put next to each other, sure Grendolyn's modification to Gwen looked more intimidating due to it's size, but these things looked much more advance. Their sleek black bodies danced around the battlefield, maneuvering themselves around groups and shooting down a few people at the front of the group before moving on.

In Ode's mind though, it was a good thing these things weren't like Gwen. Sure they were racking up the body count, their weapons were ridiculously effective at slaughtering row after row of men. Some of those bullets even pierced the people at the front and sometimes killed one or two men behind them.

But still, if it was Gwen who was here instead of these little pests, instead of doing things like hit and run, wouldn't her size and power allow her to just bulldoze through the frontline and every subsequent line after that?

"You guys focus on the main front, just keep those things away from the mages for a few more seconds so they can finish their spells." Ode said to Alos and Travis who didn't even bother to look his way as if doing that was the obvious thing. "Jacob, get the boys and do maneuver 6 on them."

"Umm..." after hearing the orders, Jacob hesitated. The doubt in his heart hadn't really been cleared up but that wasn't the issue right now. He looked back at the mage corps, the thing about wars were that their groups weren't kept intact. The way to maximize war potentials was to combine those with similar abilities to deal damage as a ma.s.s.

The only reason he was here with them was because he was the infantry type. Faris on the other hand was a mage. It was pretty safe for those mages behind two captains, additionally, once they casted this spell en ma.s.se, the mages were supposed to retreat since they were commanded to expend most of their mana in one shot anyway. Once that was over the battlefield was no longer in their hands. But then again this was a war. They couldn't exactly always prepare for what the enemy was planning.

"Go, I'll take care of your girl." Travis spoke. "I'm not like him." It was clear that he was directing those words at Ode. Seeing Jacob's reaction to his command and hearing that statement, Ode simply turned around and walked away without saying anything.

"These other worlders, they really have some nice toys don't they." Alos spoke once Ode left. "It'd be nice if we can learn how to produce those thing ourselves."

"Yeah, sure would... but really I hope they don't take out anything new." Travis replied. "Otherwise we won't get the chance to play with them."
