229 First Humans

Even as Zhao Wei entered with the men, her eyes only went to them for a second before turning back to the point, as if she absolutely couldn't make any startling movements at all. Though her spoon had already dipped in the bowl a few times like a normal person would, none of that food reached her mouth. It seemed that even now she didn't notice that she'd been pouring it all over her front.

There were two causes for this bizarre phenomenon. One was propped up on the chair next to her, her mouth wide open and beady eyes curiously observing the idiot Zhao Wei had brought in. The other one was lazily laying on the floor in front of Faris's legs, with every heave of her body the air in the cabin would s.h.i.+ft. And with every grunt from the sleeping beast, the mage's whole body would twitch so hard she almost jumped from her seat.

After being left in this position for more than 30 minutes, Faris almost felt like she had been doing full physical training for 3 hours straight, and at the rate her heart was going, she might as well have.

As for the four men watching her, their hands were spastic, switching between reaching for the hilt of their blades and keeping it by their side. This was because the demon they previously thought to be the cook who was really a demon in human flesh, was squatting down and gently stroking that beast's head.

"Myra, I know we have food, but don't you think you're getting too lazy?" He said while gently rubbing her chubby back and then pinching some fat on her waist, "Look at this? are you a wolf or a pig?"

"Auurrgh!" Myra whined in protest at her treatment, rolling on the ground while rubbing her body against Zhao Wei's legs.

Before long, Panda jumped down from the bench and jumped into Zhao Wei's lap, punching him with her paws. Zhao Wei could only smile at her pa.s.sive aggressive bid for attention.

The other's were truly frightened at this point, though the premise of companions.h.i.+p between these beasts and that demon was there, those punches sounded like a hammer striking a boulder instead of love taps for attention to their ears. Forget if that beast wanted to attack them, if that thing wanted to get close to them wouldn't they die from internal injuries?

Before long, Zhao Wei hugged the giant wolf as if she were a pup and carried her out the door, urging her to go hunting with Panda in tow.

Coming back, he saw the men still stand at their position, almost as if they forgot that they were still bleeding onto the floor. "I'm sorry for that, please take a seat." Zhao Wei thought they were just waiting for his permission to sit down and felt really bad for having them stand so long.

Those words allowed them to snap back to reality and woodenly line themselves on the bench. Only then did they notice the spicy aroma lingering in the air from the soup Zhao Wei had served their companion causing them to gulp a little.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The clinking of spoons against the bowl reverberated throughout the cabin. Problem was, all five spoons clinked in unison, not one of them even a beat faster or slower, almost as if there was only one spoon here. All five people also seemed to like to eat the same way, they would bring the soup to their mouths but only half of the soup in their spoon actually entered their bodies with the rest spilling on their clothes.

Zhao Wei watched them questioningly, was this their culture? unbeknownst to him was the fact that they were acting this way because of the pressure his observation was putting on them. It had almost slipped past his mind when he was suddenly presented with the unconscious mage, but this was the first time he'd met any humans since the change, but now it suddenly came back to him and he wasn't very good at keeping his interests hidden.
