37 Prelude To Fire

James had also made astonis.h.i.+ng progress yet again, truely showing off his protagonist powers. As one would expect, even though he had missed out on a few important opportunities, he had somehow managed to become a powerhouse nevertheless. This could mainly be attributed to his ability: [All Elemental]. To put it simply, the ability allowed James to have amazing compatibility with all basic elements, nothing more; nothing less. But with a protagonist's role, this ability would be utilised in the most daring of ways alongside his physique and aura. Anyhow, James managed to obtain a physique and an aura, bolstering his strength to how Simon originally imagined him.

Tyrone is currently on the verge of breaking through. With the guidance of his master, he decided to wait until an opportunity presented itself to him before becoming an expert rank visionary.

Amazingly, there was one thing to note that left Simon in awe. 'How don't Jack and Tyrone have abilities?'

On the bus:

"Aaarrrggghh.... why are we even taking a bus? Won't it make the trip unnecessarily long?" Liam groaned in the middle back seat.

"Be grateful, I wouldn't exactly call this a bus. This is more like a d.a.m.n limo! Just look at the leg room! It even has a fridge over there!" Ben enthusiastically shouted.

"Shus.h.!.+ We represent the professor's cla.s.s, do not put a stain on his honour!" Mark rebuked.

This was all happening near the back of the bus, exactly where Simon was not sitting. Unlike everyone else, Simon preferred the front, because no one was there. After a month of non-stop teaching, he really did not want to talk to anyone. He already knew that the bus ride would take 12 hours, and he was very happy. As to how he knew it would take 12 hours? He wrote the very same bus scene for his novel, except it did not include around 70% of the group he now had.

"Hey, Simz!" Mich.e.l.le shouted.

"Yes?"

"Sis wants to swap with you, she feels uncomfortable here." Mich.e.l.le said as she took split second glances at her sister and James.

"There is spare room up the front, why do I need to move?"

"Come on, as the leader, don't you need to spend time with your-"

"Nope, I need to meditate right now; masters orders!" Simon lazily claimed.

Sienna took Simon up on the offer and took the seat opposite to him, reclining her chair as she too meditated.

'At least one person's got the right idea.'

'Make that two, no, three.' Simon corrected himself as he found Jack and Tyrone in a fierce debate over visualisation curve theory.

'Those two really are the cla.s.s' pride. Never would have expected Jack to turn out this way, I just kinda expected him to fail and die in the Siege. That's what happened in the novel. But now I feel really guilty, even if I created him, I know almost nothing about him. Such drive, I feel some dissatisfaction that I couldn't write James as such a character. If only I had more time and wasn't dying, maybe the story wouldn't have ended with some ordinary harem romance. I mean, not a lot of people can love two people equally. I didn't even love my mum and dad equally, almost no love at all. But no one can blame me, some people are just so selfish that they enjoy forbidden activities and disregard the consequences'

'But who am I to judge? Must be hard keeping it in your pants.'

"Hey Simz, come down here!" Mich.e.l.le ordered.

Simon turned back to see Sam choking Ben towards unconscious, while Liam could only try to pull her off gently like a gentleman.

"STOP THAT."

"EEECK!"

Simon felt like he could knock someone out right now, but he didn't.

"How about we play a game of 'Truth or Dare' to calm everyone down?" Mich.e.l.le suggested.

"Yeah, sure. I'm in." Jack casually responded as he finished debating with Tyrone.

"Sure, I got nothing better to do." James said plainly.

"Me and Benny boy will partic.i.p.ate in this most exquisite game of culture." Liam happily responded after regaining his breath.

"Me too." Sam agreed.

"Why not?" Sienna also agreed.

"I believe master would applaud to any effort to boost our interpersonal relations.h.i.+ps, so I am in." Tyrone announced.

"Professor, would prefer for us to study whenever we can, why not something a bit more useful?" Mark suggested.

"Like what?" Liam asked.

"What if we took turns to pose a visionary theory question to a randomly selected person, and if they fail, they must do a truth or dare. If they succeed in answering the question, they will make you do a truth or dare." Mark calmly spoke.

"That is actually not a bad idea." Simon smiled.

"I'm in."

'Why not? Mark is suggesting something that will boost the group's sense of bonding while testing their knowledge.'

"Then it's settled, we will make some paper cards with each of names on them and start with me as the question giver." Mich.e.l.le happily announced.

She put her hand into a newly made box full of named cards, drawing out a random card.

"Jack."

"How many legacy cores can-"

"One" Jack immediately answered.

"I didn't even finis.h.!.+ But you are still right. Am I going to do a truth or a dare?"

Jack scratched his head for a moment before coming up with a suitable idea.

"I dare you to shake a can of soda for an entire minute and then drink it immediately." Jack chuckled.

'Well at least it isn't anything too childish.'

The activities went on for the rest of the bus ride. The students laughed and chatted along as they discussed theory and did dares or told their secrets. Among them, there was still one person that had managed to evade every single defeat though. And that person's name is Simon Grey.

"Simon"

"The rank that one can acquire a leg"

"Expert"
