"Of course I would know you all by name, with you living this close to me. I know everything going on within a 5 kilometer radius and most things within a 200 kilometer radius."

"I-I see. Then you must know that lady Solaris arrived and is here to meet you?"

"Yeah I was waiting for you to come get me, she arrived about an hour ago using a very intriguing type of spell I would love to know more about."

"I'm sorry but I can't tell you about that."

Looking at Dax with a very serious expression all of a sudden Rouge looked at Dax with a cold smile while she circulated mana inside her body for attack spells.

"You know seeing that expression makes me want to make you tell me even more, but I'll back down for now."

"... I appreciate that, I'll leave you two alone."

Retreating from Dax as soon as they had reached the chapel Rouge took big steps away from Dax as if running from his all seeing influence.

(Well that's enough playing around… Let's see what she wants.)

Entering the main chapel Dax was struck with heavily coloured morning light s.h.i.+ning through the multiple stained gla.s.s munals.

"Good morning."

Sitting on the main altar like she owned the place, the archangel Solaris lazely spread out her wings as she extended a greeting. As always Solaris looked like she had spent multiple hours on her look, with elaborate gemstones that were inscribed with complex runes braided into her hair, creating a constant rainbow-like glow around her. She didn't wear her combat dress, but instead she wore a simple white silk dress with her usual necklace that contained countless monster cores fastend i a complex array of some unkown propuse.

"Good morning. I find that craft you use to travel extremely interesting, can I borrow it for a bit?"

(Straight to the point huh..)

"And why would I just lend you an extremely advanced piece of military equipment?"

Seeing that Solaris didn't waste any time at all getting to the main subject at all, Dax didn't waste any time either.

"I need transport, easy as that."

"I'm sure you don't seeing how you moved to here faster than normally possible, I didn't really expect the churches to hide such a function."

Looking around the church with a knowing smile Dax had realized one of the angels largest secrets.

"So is it a gate type construction or some sort of teleportation?"

Continuing his probe into Solaris' secrets Dax formed a large smile while looking closely at the angles reaction.

"It's a gate type, I've never heard of instant teleportation."

Answering frankly without a spec of anger or embarra.s.sment Solaris inquired into other types of instant transportation other than their own.

"Instant warp type transportation is a really bad idea that has killed countless civilizations and turned many a bright researchers into red paste."

"I see."

Taking a few seconds to think about that information Solaris jumped off the altar and walked over to and looked directly into his face as she spoke in complete seriousness.

"I need to reach somewhere not connected to the gate network, and fast. You will be rewarded plenty, even if we don't find what we're after."

Seeing a rare hint of desperation in Solaris' eye from such a close range Dax realized that the matter was serious.

"And I'm guessing that other parties are also after what you recently discovered."

"Exactly, we're after something other hostile sanctuaries are after."

From what Dax had gathered of local legend and history, the angles once ruled the entire world and beyond, but nothing lasts forever. A great calamity struck the world, and with resources drindeling war ensued and destroyed the world. The surviving angles split up in factions and buried themselves in sanctuaries. Solaris belonging to the 14th sanctuary worked for only its interests, and if Dax helped them further factions hostile towards the 14th sanctuary would definitely see him as a new treat.

"And why the f.u.c.k would I let myself be dragged into your eternal power struggle? We have enough on our plate already."

"Ah, the soldier and his eternal war. What would make you want to help us then?"

"You really don't understand do you? My side is losing, and while that is happening I am stuck, on this f.u.c.king dirt ball planet. Give me one f.u.c.king reason why I would divert resources from that objective?"

Showing a slight smile in response to the question Solaris already expected Dax to pose she gave Dax a warm hug as she whispered into his ear knowing he would already accept.

"That sure is interesting. It is really interesting in fact.."

---

"urgh!- My f.u.c.king head!"

Walking up Terra turned to the side of her bed as she puked up a dense black liquid as a acute pain struck her head. Writhing in pain while she continued to puke up liter after liter of the black liquid Terra heard someone enter her room.

"What the f.u.c.k do you w"

Not able to finish her sentence Terra was kicked out of her bed before something picked her up and threw her out the nearby window.

"Gha!- What the fuc-"

Falling out of the window and down a few meters into the training field Terra was extremely confused and once more cut off as someone stomped on her stomach and made her puke up the last of the nanomachines that had been healing her.

"Good morning recruit, you are 2 hours and 34 minutes and 33 seconds late for morning practice. Do you know what that means?"

"What the h.e.l.l Lux!?"

"That is X.O, Lieutenant General or Ma'am to you. In case you don't understand I've been put in charge of your training, that means your a.s.s is mine! Now that can be as painful or pleasant as you want, either way is fine with me. Now I asked you a question recruit! Answer me!"

Standing on Terra's chest Lux didn't seem to take no for an answer.

"W-what does that mean Lieutenant?"

"Oh, I am so glad you asked recruit. I means your training has been delayed 2 hours and 34 minutes and 33 seconds. That is 9.273‬ seconds of training lost, that means 9.273‬ seconds I will add to your training, and 9.273‬ extra push ups added to your warmup."

"Are yo-"

Unsatisfied with Terra's tone Lux stomped one more time on her chest as she showed a smile.

"What was that recruit? I didn't hear you."

"Y-yes ma'am."

"Good. We're gonna become good friends, I can feel it already~"

Taking her feet off Terra's chest Lux showed a large demon like grin as she flipped Terra over with her foot.

"Then let's get started~ 1, 2, 3, count with me now. 6, 7, 7, get your chest all the way in the dirt, that's it. 9, 10, 11-"

…

..

.

"9.012, 9.013, 9.014-"

Terra didn't know how much time had pa.s.sed since then, only that the sun was awfully warm today, and that Lux was no featherweight.

"-9.015, 9.016, 9.017-"

While Terra was doing pushups Lux had found a perfect place to sit as she talked about the Galactic h.e.l.lwalkers and their regulations.

"Regulation code 333.16.1.2.66.4: A marine is always to act with determination, courage and aggression. It is imperative that when you strike a confirmed hostile you strike first, you strike hard and you strike once, understood?"

"9.032, 9.033, yes ma'am! Strike first hard and with appropriate strength to annihilate the hostile forces! 9.041-"

"Hmm~ Good job, now I'm finally seeing why C.O picked you up recruit, you really don't break no matter how much I torment you, I kinda makes me want to push you even further~"

Speaking while she sat comfortable on top of Terra's back as she did pushups Lux showed a s.a.d.i.s.tic smile that Terra was glad she didn't see directly.

"Yes ma'am! Pain is a old friend at this point. 9.092, 9.093-"

"Well we'll see.. After all we're still just at the warmup stage~ Then regulation code 333.16.1.2.68-2.9 A marine of the special ops department is expected to always put the means of the many above the few, the chain of command is absolute. But civilians are always and will always be off the table, unless executive command level 4, or so called condition black is in effect."

"Yes ma'am! Means of the many outweigh the means of the few. Don't f.u.c.k with civ's, unless extreme measures are required."

"Good~ It's almost like you know all this already…"

Impressed with Terra's answers and the speed which she absorbed the new information Lux started to wonder if the rangers she was a member of previously had a similar doctrine to the h.e.l.lwalkers.

"No, 9.102, it's because, 9.103, Dax already, 9.104, taught me all that."

"Oh that means we can skip all that then, why didn't you say so when I started listing all this a few hours ago?"

"Because, 9.122, you're sitting on my back, 9.123, and I have, 9.124, a hard time speaking, 9.125, right now."

"Hmm~ In this low grav? It seems like-"

"Lux tone it down a bit will you, she's clearly still injured."

At some point Dax had walked up on them and started watching while giving out his opinions on Lux's training (bullying).

"I've orders to relay, listen up."

Dropping his ever present smile Lux realized he had something important to say, and quickly rose to her feet and stood at attention.

"Understood Sir, recruit on your feet!"

As Terra also got on her feet Dax quickly started explaining.

"I've received a request from the 14th sanctuary and I plan to fulfill it, as such I'll take the CAS-A7 with me and go there for the next month at the least."

"But what about current plans?"

"Yeah about that… Lux take Lilly, Iris and Terra along with a few AEHWP's and the new UGAV's with you along with Zephyr and form a convoy."

"Understood, I think 2 UGAV's, 1 closed transport and 2 open transports will be enough to get by.. Not to mention I can do without the recruit, she'll just slow me down."

"No don't be mean Lux… Terra what's your opinion?"

"Of what?"

Being unexpectedly brought into the conversation Terra had no idea of what they were talking about.

"If you were to travel all the way down to the southern islands what would you need?"

"You mean the barren islands to the southwest? Why would you go there?"

"No I'm talking about demi human territory, you know that nation to the south consisting of a loads of all those islands."

"What you mean the Azure islands? That's practically around the world!?"

"Yep~ Just about. I had been planning to go there with the Stinger to secure the sphere that landed around that area.. So what would you need to go there?"

Being posed the quite serious question about traveling 4.000 kilometers Terra took a few minutes before answering.

"I would need a large convoy to be sure.. Oh and definitely a complete drone surveillance network along with some large caliber railguns for firesupport."

"Yeah I figure that would be the case… Then take what you think You'll need, Lux will be your second in command for the trip."

"Wait what?"

"Yeah what do you mean by second in command C.O, why can't I take command on this?"

Looking at both the women that didn't understand what he was saying Dax breathed a deep sigh before answering.

"Since you were only dealing with the northerners out on that lonely ice sheet you might not be aware, but this world is filled with monsters."

"Monsters?"

"Yeah, like this world was some sick sort of fairytale, about 2 weeks after I woke up I killed a dragon."

"For real?"

"For real, therefore the best fit to lead is an expert in monsters."

"I see… Then we'll do that."
