68 To Cull An Uprising 3

"Oh my G.o.d could they f.u.c.k off already!?"

Digging her heels into the kilometer thick ice sheet the orbital marine broke to a hold as she turned around and slipped down on her left knee and emptied her lungs entirely of air as she let lose a single shot from her Rex Alpha rifle before rus.h.i.+ng to her feet once more and started to run again. Over the last 2 days the orbital marine had been chased by members of the settlement she had stolen food from, and it that time she had realized they were no normal actic villagers. Even after hiding her tracks she proved easy to track, and after a few hours they had jumped her with bow, arrow and swords like some fantasy RPG adventure. Killing them had proved harder than the marine had trought, and she was forced to retreat after killing only a few. Being on the run for after that her ICI unit had intermittently picked up contacts to her rear still tracking her like bloodhounds out of h.e.l.l.

(This needs to stop… I'm running low on ammo, and this f.u.c.king ice sheet just continues on forever. Why is there even people out here to begin with? And why the f.u.c.k are they able to seemingly deflect my rifle fire?)

Moving at the speed normally a.s.sociated with a motor vehicle running down a highway for a few hours the marine remained fully alert to her surroundings, and soon spotted a large and unnatural looking rock formation about 5 kilometers ahead.

(Rocks means solid ground underneath….. I hope.)

The very idea about seeing solid ground made the orbital marine's head itch less than it currently was, and a small smile even formed on her helmet covered face.

"What the f.u.c.k is this…"

Having reached the rock formation the marine found it to be some sort of improvised wall, and after climping it she looked down on something truly hard for her to believe. All over the place laid sc.r.a.ps of Empire technology organized in some unknown fas.h.i.+on with a bunch of workers covered in thick fur coats working to disa.s.semble it.

(They're pulling the depri form my crash apart, but why?)

As if waiting to answer her question one of the workers shouted, making a higher ranked fur coat rush over, where he retrieved magazine for a Rex Alpha rifle which he immediately put into a rifle he had hidden under his coat.

"They're f.u.c.king salvaging for weaponry… But that shouldn't work, the rifles are designed not to be used by anything other than navy personal and are locked by biometric locks. Wait why do I know that? I must have been someone that handled the weapons huh."

Discovering more of her own forgotten history by accident the marine s.p.a.ced out trying to remember more, but was awoken by the sound of a gunshot.

"Imposible!"

Looking down at the sc.r.a.pyard once more the marine saw the fur coats erupting in cheer as they gathered around the person with the rifle.

(How the f.u.c.k did they bypa.s.s the biometric lock?... No that's not important, what is important is they never leave this place alive.)

Realizing that access to weapons from the Galactic Empire would greatly upset the power balance of this alien world she had stranded on, the marine came to the conclusion that they had to die, and luckily they had conveniently bunched up into a single target rich environment.

"You put your hands on something that never belonged to you."

With those words the marine quickly shot all the coated figures dead before they even noticed that she was there.

"ICI scan the area and find me useful supplies."

[DIiRECTIVzE C-CONFIRfMED, SCccqANNING AAAREA.]

Talking half an hour to pick the place clean of useful supplies, the marine then gathered the rest of the functioning technology up in a pile, and then set it ablaze with a incendiary grenade she had found.

"I need to make sure there's not more of this kind of stuff out here…"

With renewed purpose the orbital marine without mommories continued her journey south.

[SUPPRESSION COMPLETE, 3 HOSTILES CAPTURED.]

["Good. Heard them up and I'll handle the rest."]

Looking around what had until a few minutes ago been a gathering of the Northern Republic's most elite group of fighters and mages Dax now only saw ruined tents, red snow and corpses, most of which had been mangled beyond recognition by the Reaper drones in hand to hand combat. Looking down on his own suit of armor Dax noticed that it was not really that black anymore, with both of his arms being covered in blood and minor pieces of tissue, and his visor had a few sprays worth of blood splatter.

(It is definitely a good idea I didn't bring anyone with me to do this…)

Dax bore no ill will towards the soldiers he had just slaughtered, in fact he wanted what was best for the republic which had suffered for so long, but sadly that solution involved these people (and a lot others) to pay with their lives. Cleaning off most of the blood on his visor with a blanked form the trashed camp, Dax picked up a sword and headed towards the wall the warband had made in order to protect themselves. Reaching the wall Dax found the 3 surviving members of the warband, 1 middle aged warrior that had fought off the drones until he had tired out, a young mage boy no older than 20 who had hid in a tent while p.i.s.sing his pants after being hit in the arm by some rock fragments, and a youth around the same age of Alice that looked at him with the same fury as she did when he first meet her in the forest outside Black Hollow so many moons ago.

"WHAT THE f.u.c.k DO YOU WANT WITH US!? WE AIN'T TELLIN YOU s.h.i.+T!""

Acting with appropriate rage for losing most of her unit in a little under 30 minutes, the youth warrior desperately tried to get out of her restraints as the mage p.i.s.sed himself again.

"WHAT THE f.u.c.k ARE YOU LOOKING AT?!"

["Ah sorry, your rage was so nostalgic it reminded me of someone I know. And to answer your question I don't want anything, I'm just here to execute you."]

"WH!? DON'T f.u.c.k AROUND!!"

Tras.h.i.+ng to rescape her robes the young warrior moved with a furry that Dax admired for someone about to die, so he decided to start with her out of respect.

"f.u.c.k! YOU! LET ME OUT OF THESE ROBES SO I CAN KICK YOUR a.s.s!"

Seeing her life flash before her as Dax moved closer to her and placed the tip of his borrowed sword on her chest, the youth was sure she was going to die, but then something landed right next to Dax and kicked up the nearby snow.

"What the f.u.c.k are you doing Dax!?"

["Executing prisoners."]

"LIKE h.e.l.l YOU ARE!"

Swinging down her spear the Archangel Solaris also channeled mana she used for a defensive spell she cast on the prisoners. Dax responded by catching the spear ment for his head with his left hand while the right one split open as he pointed it at Solaris and turned the jamming up to max. Weakening Solaris sufficiently Dax wreaseled her spear away and then grabbed her by the neck before lifting her to his eye level while still continuing to jam all magic.

["This is what you f.u.c.kkers are forcing me to do, how exactly are you not satisfied miss baggage?"]

As Solaris stared into the tinted gla.s.s hiding Dax's face while gasping for air her face was filled with a mix of rage and fear.

"How the h.e.l.l can you just kill without remorse like that!?"

["Training, and having a noose around my neck at the same time helps. That is why you are here is it not? To kill me if I don't hold my part of the agreement."]

"Typical f.u.c.king angels…"

"You shut the f.u.c.k up for a moment, and Dax don't f.u.c.king try and play the victim. I'm pretty sure even if I used the entirety of my forces we wouldn't be able to hurt you so don't try and play me with that c.r.a.p."

["..."]

Falling silent Dax disabled his jamming as he still held Solaris by the throat.

["Then as the general of the armed forces of the 14th sanctuary are you going to report seeing any surviving forces?"]

"There are no survivors."

["Then we're all good."]

Setting down Solaris with those words Dax then turned his attention to the captured members of the warband.

["There you have it, the angel just saved all of your lifes. You are all free to go, but interfere with my operations and you'll be killed without mercy. Understood?"]

With a smile Dax started walking away from the prisoners.

"Hey! Are you not gonna untie us!?"

["The old man has already untied himself with the knife he was waiting to stab me with when I got closer."]

Having his scheme seen through the middle aged warrior but on a smile as he scoffed.

"Heh, so you saw through it? I never got your name, oh metal t.i.tan."

["Name is Dax, of the Alph4 clan."]

"And what does the great metal t.i.tan Dax want?"

["The betterment of the Northern Republic and its people."]

"I see… We will head home without interfering with you then."

---

["I don't know what to think of this at all… Solaris are you feeling any interference?"]

"A lot yeah, but I can handle it."

["Okay then, ICI prep for a full spectral a.n.a.lysis and give me a full 3d scan while plotting the mana particle interference to figure out the field refresh rate."]

Examining the Northern Republic's magic jammer Dax kneeled down and took off his helmet as his cybernetic eye lit up and the 3 independent lenses started examining the jammer that looked like some sort of metallic rock inspired in complex runes.

"Ah~ It feels so good to breathe after a bit."

[INTERNAL AIR SUPPLY REPLENISHED, STARTING FIELD a.n.a.lYSIS...]

"This is going to take a while.."

[MATCH FOUND.]

"Wait what?"

[TYPE 'HERMES' BACKUP GRAVITATIONAL ANNIHILATION FIELD GENERATOR #33 ID 1132A4, GALACTIC EMPIRE 125TH h.e.l.lWALKERS 15TH LANDING FORCE, LOGISTICS AND SUPPORT GROUP.]

"That can't be right…"

[FIELD REFRESH RATE AT 92.45% MATCH, BASELINE FIELD DISRUPTION ALTERED.]

"That's f.u.c.king imposible!"

"Dax what is going-"

"Shut the f.u.c.k up for a moment! ICI give me a knife now!"

[XMRA FUNCTION 4 ONLINE.]

Walking over towards the jammer a knife extended from Dax's arms he plunged them into the jammer, splitting it open to reveal a device hidden inside. It was a round small metallic sphere that appeared to have burns on it from reentry heating.

"... ICI shut down Hermes anti grav gen #33 ID 1132a4 please."

Placing his hand on the drive the humm it quietly emitted shut slowly quieted down.

"So you did have something to do with this afterall Dax…"

"You don't f.u.c.king understand do you? The baseline field disruption was altered, that normally takes a f.u.c.king specialized forge in low orbit around a unstable neutron star to even attempt something as advanced as that, and there's not a star like that within a f.u.c.king hundred light years of this G.o.dd.a.m.ned rock. Something major is wrong."

"Are you saying that it's impossible do what was done to this 'drive' of yours? Because I'm looking at it."

"I'm saying to do what has been done to this drive could only be done by 1, no 2 people I know of. Somewhere in that cold f.u.c.king wasteland there's either someone from my world, or a G.o.dd.a.m.ned monster of enginerical and technological prowers 5000 years ahead of anyone else in this world."
