165 Incident At The Magic Academy 7

After learning that she had lost over 10 people to an escaped teacher student combo Eva was understandably quite frustrated, all to Dax's amus.e.m.e.nt.

"What, you taught that you people could match us just because you copied our toys?"

Just as Eva tried very hard to not be affected by the qiton's taunt, rifle fire once more erupted in the distance.

"Sporadic rifle fire, 600 meters... Mixed in with highly disciplined fire coming from a single Rex-0999 which is a favorite of my disciple. You just lost 3 more people, hope you weren't close….. But I guess you will join them in a bit so it doesn't really matter."

Seeing that his taunt worked when Eva flared with anger Dax formed a large child like smile, but before the fl.u.s.tered elver got close to Dax he was knocked out by a certain p.i.s.sed off angel.

"Do your f.u.c.king job! If you people can't handle 2 escaped hostages then I'll have to do it myself, and if I don't need any of you elvers you will power this spell. Am I clear!?"

Letting out an immense amount of mana, along with concentrated bloodl.u.s.t Misha made her stance and position abundantly clear as all those that surrounded her s.h.i.+vered in fear. The 3 winged angel made the status quo abundantly clear, even if she had lost a wing Misha was something above them, something to not disappoint and something to fear. After everyone had left the angel alone she looked at the unconscious qiton that laid in the middle of her ever more complex magic circle and breathed a deep sigh.

"This has to work.. I do this, and I do this right… Then I'm free."

As she continued drawing the magic circle that broke every single one of the rules that had been learned in her long life inside the archangels sanctuary, Misha's mind returned to the day she had almost died, to the day she did die.

---

"f.u.c.king h.e.l.l, we're pinned! Mare!"

Having initially underestimated their opponents the elvers started using different techniques to kill the escaped student and teacher, when technology failed they turned to magic.

"No way out! Just die already!"

"You first tree humper! When I get out of here I am going to raze your little forest with nuclear f.u.c.king fire!"

Building solid cover by making walls of compressed rock spring up from the ground, the elvers gradually pinned Mare and Lux that had been caught in the middle of a plaza and had hunkered down in a fountain. With their targets stuck and with all the time in the world the elvers took their sweet time bombarding the small fountain with a flavorful a.s.sortment of different spells, even if they couldn't directly see their targets as they didn't want to lose their heads the onslaught of spells gradually withered down Mare and Lux.

(s.h.i.+!-)

Barely avoiding a fist sized icicle that was going to cave a hole in her head, Lux let loose a short burst from her machine gun to destroy a grouping of rock shards that was heading towards Mare she evaluated her options.

(No f.u.c.king way am I going to get stoned to death on this savage f.u.c.king planet!... My Rex-0999 can't pen their cover, I am out of grenades and without charge Mare's rifle isn't that useful either.. They are also definitely ready to gun us down the second we try and break out, so that's a last resort.. I could break out alone, but that would mean abandoning Mare to die. No f.u.c.king way I'm leaving her behind.)

Feeling a noose gradually tighten around her neck Lux's brain raced to find a solution to her and Mare's current situation the orbital marie didn't panic in the slightest, if anything she felt herself being more calm than she had been the last few months.

"Mare on my singal we're going to make a break for it, leave your rifle."

As Lux and Mare's cover rapidly decayed Lux decided to make a break for it, even if it was against what the more rational part of her mind.

"Mmm, ready."

Mare of course didn't know about her teachers uncertency, it didn't really matter to her as she trusted Lux unconditionally. Ever since she was rescued by Lux Mare had decided to follow Lux for the rest of her life.

"Okay here goes… On my mark. 3… 2… 1… G!-"

"Friendly! Free egress, your 4 o'clock!"

Just as Lux was about to give the command to charge an explosion rang out behind her to the right as a familiar voice shouted at them as and the elvers spell barrage momentarily paused.

"f.u.c.k! Egressing, Mare go!"

Acting on a split second decision, Lux broke cover as she depleted the last of her triple nine's ammunition in a suppressive burst. Mare followed her teachers example and made the elvers keep their heads down, as they both sprinted out of the plaza and jumped through a smashed window.

"I swear to G.o.d!-"

"Yeah I know, save it!"

The first thing that Lux did after getting into cover was to snap at Terra that had come to save them.

"You ignored my direct f.u.c.king command recruit!-"

"Yeah f.u.c.king save it for later!"

"I am going to tear you a new f.u.c.king a.s.shole when this is all over, mark my words."

Having made minimum separation from the elvers right as Lux finished her conversation with Terra, the 3 girls ran into a maintenance closet, then disappeared without a trace.

-

"They're gone, we lost them."

"f.u.c.k!"

As Eva arrived with reinforcements she was only meet by her wounded allies, no sign of the escaped hostages could be found.

"How did they escape?"

"They had help. We pinned the two of them in the plaza and withered them down with magic like you said we should but a third broke them out, then they ran this way and disappeared."

"... That makes no sense."

"Bu-"

"Shut up and let me think! Sweep the area again."

"Yes ma'am."

With her soldiers leaving her alone for a moment Eva sat down on the floor and gathered her thoughts.

(First a single one escapes, then there's suddenly 2 and now 3? The second one can be explained with that we missed one doing the sweep while securing the area, but one more? That's not a mistake…. We're missing something large.)

"Area sweep complete, still no sign of them ma'am."

"Okay that's fine, let's get back. I need to talk with our collaborator."
