53 It's Not My Faul

"I want to make a Castella cake for Grandmother." Tsubaki rolled up her sleeves and tied her hair in a bun. "Do you need anything?"

"Do you need any help?" He asked her back. Ren took a seat at the kitchen island. Various kinds of ingredients had been laid on it.

"You want some credit when we serve this cake to Grandmother tomorrow?" Tsubaki teased but a glint in Ren's steady gaze wiped off her smile. "Why?"

"Whenever you smile like that, I feel like kissing you."

Tsubaki pursed her lips in a thin line. She covered her face with her hands, earning a laugh from her husband.

"Don't tease me like that..." Tsubaki pouted.

It's not my fault, okay?

She still remembered the quick kiss that happened during their home shopping earlier. She blushed furiously and didn't even dare to see the sales advisor's face. She just kept quiet the entire time.

Ren had arranged for the furniture to be delivered tomorrow morning, alongside the bigger piece of decorative items. In the end, they went home with smaller items including the couple mugs.

"Okay, okay. I won't distract you." Ren stood up, he held her hands and brought them down. "But, I really want to help you. Can I?"

"Okay..."

And then, a pair of husband and wife teamed up to bake a cake. As Ren didn't have much knowledge about baking, Tsubaki only gave him the simple tasks. Seeing his determination, she ended up making two types of Castella cakes.

Before midnight, two long Castella cakes were packed in two brown boxes. Tsubaki made a traditional flavoured one while the other was in matcha flavoured. Thanks to Ren, she got a hold of a high quality matcha powder.

"Grandma would love these." Ren rea.s.sured her after he saw her anxious look. "Let's go to sleep. We have a long day today."

Tsubaki agreed. There was no use in fretting over something that hadn't occurred yet without valid reasons. And Ren had already reminded her a few times that his grandmother didn't judge people based on their status.

Ren sent Tsubaki to her door. She looked awkwardly at him. He shook her head and wrapped her in a tight hug before kissing her crown.

"Don't feel pressured. I will wait until you're ready."

Tsubaki smiled in grat.i.tude. An idea crossed her mind. She tip toed and landed a quick kiss on her husband's right cheek.

"Good night, husband."

And she immediately went inside her room and closed the door.

It took Ren a good few minutes before he finally reacted. He helplessly held his head, chuckling when he remembered what had just happened. He never thought that his wife would act cheeky like this.

Ren stared at the door, eyes full of adoration. "Good night, wife."

Once he entered his room, he heard his phone ringing. Lawyer Furukawa. He was the lawyer who Ren had instructed to take over Kitaoji Masaru's case.

"Yes?"

"President Fuse, Kitaoji Masaru made a ruckus in the police station. He insisted to meet you. What do you want to do?"

Layers of frost thickened on his face. With a bone chilling voice, he said, "Let's give him what he wants."

"Yes, sir."

Kitaoji Masaru had been detained with the accusation of attempting **** on Hanada Tsubaki. As Ren didn't want his wife to recount the disgusting event so soon, he asked the police to not call her over to give a statement immediately. He also hinted them to make it hard for Kitaoji Masaru to stay in the interrogation room. As the head of Fuse Family with extensive contacts, he could easily achieve that.

Ren quickly changed into a set of black clothes. He wore his black trench coat over his black long sleeve s.h.i.+rt before stepping out from his room. He didn't forget to check on Tsubaki before he went out. Luckily she had already sound asleep.

"I'll be back soon." He left after kissing her forehead. Her eyelashes fluttered, as if sensing his presence.

Ren instructed Hibiki who lived in a special room downstairs to guard his wife. The younger man obeyed without any objection.

They were not many people in the police station at the time Ren arrived besides a few drunkards involved in a fight. Lawyer Furukawa and the director of the police station greeted him. As this case involved two families in high society, the director personally supervised it.

"His parents wanted to bail him out but was unable to do so due to the suppression from Chairman Kitaoji."

Ren grunted. "Bring me to him. And you know what to do, director."

The middle-aged man shuddered under his cold glare. "Yes. I'll leave you alone with him, President Fuse."

Ren was escorted to the interrogation room. He entered alone. A man was slumping on a chair. Once he saw who entered the room, his eyes widened in terror.

Clad in black clothes, the man standing in front of him looked as if he was Hades himself who ascended from the Underworld, personally came to drag his soul to the dark otherworld.
