13 Our President Bought Us Cakes!

Once Ren parked his car, he called a.s.sistant Matsuzaki to have him and one other employee coming to help him with the boxes of sweets. He waited for almost five minutes before his a.s.sistant and one bulky man arrived. Ren got off his car and gestured them to take the boxes at the backseat.

"What..." a.s.sistant Matsuzaki was quite startled to see the content of the white boxes. "Cakes? President, you went out to buy these?"

"Bring them to the pantry." Ren took the box containing the hummingbird cake before he walked to his private elevator.

"Mr. President, let me take them for you." The bodyguard stationed beside the elevator reached out his hands, trying to take the box hold by his president.

Ren shook his head. His reply was short. "It's okay."

a.s.sistant Matsuzaki could just look when his boss went inside the elevator without even took a single glance behind. He peered inside the box through the see-through part on the lid. He was baffled. What was his boss thinking?

"Let's just go upstairs." a.s.sistant Matsuzaki sighed. His colleague just nodded.

After he placed the boxes on the table in the pantry, a.s.sistant Matsuzaki quickly rushed in the president's office. His boss was leisurely sat on the couch, admiring the whole cake sitting on top of the coffee table.

"Err... president, do you want me to cut the cake for you?" He reluctantly asked.

Ren waved him off. "Just send a portion of the mousse cake and the donuts to me. Bring my coffee and an extra plate too. Go."

His a.s.sistant left in confusion. After the pitiful man was gone, Ren carefully opened the lid. His usually cold face warmed up at the sight of the familiar cake.

He didn't have a sweet tooth. But, after meeting the girl five years ago he developed a fondness for sweets especially hummingbird cakes. This cake was the very first sweets Tsubaki made for him when they first meeting each other. He could still remember the chilly air of the raining day, accompanied by a slice of hummingbird cake and a cup of hot coffee.

a.s.sistant Matsuzaki returned with a tray. He carefully placed the coffee and plates containing a slice of mousse cake and donuts on the table. A set of an empty plate and cutlery followed.

"I've placed the sweets back in the boxes. Would president bring them back home or do you want to keep them here?"

"Share them among the department."

a.s.sistant Matsuzaki was stunned, didn't expect to receive the order. He recomposed himself. "Thank you, sir."

After he left, he ordered his subordinates to divide the remaining mousse cake and donuts among themselves who worked on the highest floor. They couldn't possibly share them with all the employees within the Fuse Corporation building. The female employees were delighted to receive such a sweet treat from their handsome president.

"Isn't this the first time our president bought some cakes for us? I can't believe it. Our president bought us cakes! I'm going to upload this on my social media. I want to brag!"

"This cake is so delicious! I wonder where did he get this?"

"This donuts are so fluffy! The taste of the salted caramel isn't too sweet or savoury. The combination of the two is balanced well. Did President Fuse buy them from a high cla.s.s bakery?"

"He sure was."

"But the packaging looked plain for a high cla.s.s place."

"Who cares as long as the sweets taste good?"

Without knowing the content of his employees' topic, a certain someone was carefully savouring the taste of each sweet in front of him. The taste of the hummingbird cake was better than he remembered. He loved the donuts and mousse cake too. Feeling his tounge was kind of numb after tasting sweets in a row, he took a sip of his black coffee to encounter the sweetness.

Just he was about to take a bite of the donut, his phone rang. A familiar name appeared on the screen. His mouth twitched in an amus.e.m.e.nt. His fingers slid the green phone icon on the screen, accepting the call.

"What a pleasure to receive your call, Mr. Wada Tatsuya."

A low chuckle was heard from the end of the line. "Good evening, Mr. Fuse. I hope I didn't disturb your afternoon tea time."

"A little birdie told you about my tea time? You indeed have disturbed it. I reckon what you've wanted to relay is something worthwhile?"

"Yes."

Ren smiled. A glint in his eyes expressing menace.
