Chapter 111 Something In The Tree

Chapter 111                 Something in the Tree

Ye Shaoyang remained calm. He bit his tongue tip and spat out a mouthful of blood onto the hands that grasped him. Instantly, a few of the ground undead howled and backed off. Once Ye Shaoyang managed to free his right arm, he quickly stabbed the left side and got rid of more ground undead.

Everything became easier after Ye Shaoyang could sit up. He reached out to the copper beads at his belt and sprayed a handful of them toward the ground undead. Because of the low cultivation of the ground undead, they could not even resist the copper bead attacks. Immediately, they all howled and retreated underground. As Ye Shaoyang stood up, a ma.s.sive figure flew toward him and pressed him against the ground again. It was the giant ground undead. In the previous tussle, too many undead had crowded together, so the giant ground undead did not join the fight. Now, all the ground undead had returned underground, which finally gave the giant ground undead a chance to attack Ye Shaoyang. It seized him by the throat and firmly pressed him on the ground. Then, its gaping mouth quickly approached him.

Ye Shaoyang avoided its mouth. From the side of the undead, he stabbed the date wood sword into its body. He could feel a jet of viscous fluid spurt out. But the physical strength of the giant ground undead was too great, so it only shuddered for a while before it launched another attack.

“d.a.m.n, it is so strong!”

When the giant ground undead almost bit down on Ye Shaoyang, he suddenly thought of a moronic idea. He voluntarily extended his head and dived toward its neck.

As the giant ground undead had a long and huge neck, Ye Shaoyang had wedged himself between its lower chin and its collarbone; this prevented its head from bending down, and reaching Ye Shaoyang. The giant ground undead raged. Its prey laid just underneath its mouth, but it could not bite down on Ye Shaoyang. It continuously let out angry growls.

But Ye Shaoyang had also locked himself in an odd position. Multiple layers of the giant ground undead’s flappy skin had plastered itself against Ye Shaoyang’s face. The skin secreted a layer of viscous fluid, and its skin repeatedly rubbed against his face. As a result, the viscous fluid covered him. The cold sensation of the fluid on his face made him feel very disgusted. Ye Shaoyang tried to calm his mind and think. The roots must control all the ground undead. After he realized this, he immediately pulled out the sword from the giant ground undead’s body and chopped the roots one by one. The chopped roots retracted.

However, this only had a minimal effect on the giant ground undead. It still possessed incredible strength. It roared, as it tried to raise its head. But Ye Shaoyang tightly grabbed its neck and wedged himself further in. When he saw the other ground undead crawl toward him again, he sighed and decided to make a sacrifice. He frowned, as he opened his mouth and chomped down hard on the giant ground undead’s neck. When the viscous fluid entered his mouth, a putrid taste pervaded his palate. He tried his best to spit out the liquid, as he bit down hard on his tongue tip and transfused his blood into the giant ground undead.

The giant ground undead screeched, as the Heavenly Master’s blood entered its veins. Suddenly, its movements grew more vigorous, and it thrust Ye Shaoyang onto the ground. Then, it squirmed on the ground in agony. Immediately, Ye Shaoyang rinsed his mouth with water. Then, he spat out the remaining undead’s blood and rinsed again. He took a breath; he could still taste a faintly nauseating taste. He quickly grabbed a handful of dried Mugwort Leaves and chewed them. Although the Mugwort Leaves also had a rather unappealing flavor, it still helped to suppress the putrid undead’s blood.

Ye Shaoyang turned around; the giant ground undead had grasped its own neck, as it desperately struggled on the ground. He quickly ran into the Path of Gold to avoid potential attacks from the other ground undead. A moment later, the giant ground undead became motionless, as its mouth continuously oozed out greenish tree sap.

“It died so easily?” Zhou Jingru could not believe that this giant ground undead would fall so easily after Ye Shaoyang bit it.

“The blood of a Heavenly Master is resistant toward all evil beings. Even an undead king will die if my blood enters its body. This is just a ground undead.” Ye Shaoyang looked at the giant ground undead. He felt that fate had dealt the giant ground undead a rotten hand. Initially, it had tried to bite him, but in the end, his bite had ended it. However, Ye Shaoyang did not feel proud at all.

Zhou Jingru asked, “Since your blood is so powerful, why don’t you just bite every evil being you have to deal with? Won’t it be easier?”

Ye Shaoyang rolled his eyes, “That's easier said than done. There is no chance for me to bite an evil being with a high cultivation. If it were a low-level being, I’d just outright kill it and not waste my time biting it.”

Ye Shaoyang took a breath before he picked up one of the roots of the paG.o.da tree. He stuck a h.e.l.lfire Talisman Paper onto the root and ignited the talisman paper. All creatures that belonged to the earth element feared fire, regardless of their cultivation level. Then, Ye Shaoyang held up the makes.h.i.+ft torch and rushed toward the paG.o.da tree. Once Ye Shaoyang reached a few meters from the paG.o.da tree, he entered its attack range. The treetop slanted, and all the branches vigorously danced. Some of them tried to wrap around him; some even spurted undead blood onto him.

It must have absorbed undead blood from the undead. The cultivation of this paG.o.da tree is just so-so, but its cultivation method and attacks are creative. Ye Shaoyang ventured a guess.

Ye Shaoyang performed a sword-dance at lightning speed. He blocked the undead blood with his right hand, while the torch in his left repeatedly ignited the branches in his proximity. When he finally reached the paG.o.da tree, he quickly drew out the Qixing Dragon Sword. The sword immediately radiated a ray of purple aura, forcing all the branches to retreat. Ye Shaoyang cut his middle finger and pressed the sword hilt. Immediately, the purple aura grew brighter. He held up the sword and chanted, “ I beseech the almighty Dao. Eradicate evil in all directions! Align now the seven stars in heaven and punish all evil!”

As he uttered these words, he chopped toward the tree with his full strength. Suddenly, the faint figure of a girl appeared and resisted the sword with both of her hands. Ye Shaoyang looked down; he saw a girl. Her hair hung loose, and she had a good figure. She gave him an imploring glance.

“Heavenly Master, please forgive me. Please show me mercy for I have only cultivated for a few hundred years.”

“A tree demon?” Ye Shaoyang coldly smiled, “You must’ve killed numerous people, yet you beg me to forgive you now?”

Without any hesitation, Ye Shaoyang cleaved the tree from top till the end.

‘’Arrrghh…” the tree demon uttered a harrowing cry. Then, it shattered into pieces.

Ye Shaoyang had sundered the giant paG.o.da tree into two. The split parts gradually fell to the ground. Numerous primordial spirits flew out from inside. Ye Shaoyang sighed when he saw the primordial spirits dance in the air. This tree demon must have killed many people.

“Big brother Shaoyang, are you okay?” Zhou Jingru nervously asked.

“I’m okay; the tree demon has died though.” Ye Shaoyang sat on the ground. He tore off his left trouser leg. One of the ground undead had bitten off some of the flesh from his left leg, which bled tremendously.

“Oh gosh, you're injured!” Zhou Jingru covered her mouth.

“I'm fine. This is just a small wound.” Ye Shaoyang washed his injuries with clean water. Then, he took out a roll bandage from his backpack. He wanted to treat his wound, but Zhou Jingru quickly s.n.a.t.c.hed the bandage away from him.

“Let me help you.” Zhou Jingru squatted in front of Ye Shaoyang and helped him bandage his wound. Since she had squatted and bent forward, her collar had dropped, which partially exposed her chest. However, Ye Shaoyang had no thoughts of peeping because her intent expression attracted his eyes. He silently looked at her; she was so beautiful.

After Zhou Jingru had finished bandaging the wound, Ye Shaoyang stood up and walked toward the paG.o.da tree demon. The sight of a coc.o.o.n-like object surprised him. The object laid in the split-open part of the paG.o.da tree. He took a closer look; he discovered that the coc.o.o.n-like object seemed thin and semi-transparent. A person seemed to lay inside there. This left Ye Shaoyang astonished; he touched the coc.o.o.n-like object and felt a bone-chilling sensation.

“Silk from the arctic silkworm?!” Ye Shaoyang exclaimed.
