23 The House Of Cards Pt. 3 The Collapsing

Ella struggled to push Regan off. Regan's nails were digging into her arm and blood dripped out. Her eyes scanned her surroundings and she found a stick. While she tried to shake Regan away she reached down and grabbed the thick stick, and raised the edge covered with nails to Regan's head and swung down.

"Let g-" Ella began bringing the stick down on Regan. Regan closed her eyes and brought her hand over her head, bracing the impact. THUMP. Ella fell to the ground with the stick in her hand. Blood dripped from her head.

Regan looked up to find Damien staring down at her, a metal bat in his hand with Ella's blood running down the top of the bat.

"D-Damien!" Regan cried running into his arms. Her hands trembled as she wrapped them around Damien, "you're here."

"I'm here," Damien laid his head in Regan's hair. He pulled her away and stared into her eyes, and started to wipe away her tears, "you… see what happens when you don't believe me? You get hurt."

Regan nodded and glanced down at Ella, "are you ok Ella?"

Ella looked up at Regan her head buzzing as blood dripped out of her head. Her vision was red and Regan seemed to fade in and out of sight.

"If only you had decided to stay, you wouldn't be on the floor right now. Why did you have to say you wanted to leave?" Regan muttered brushing Ella's hair out of her eyes, "if only you had agreed to never leave me you won't be here bleeding to death."

"You," Ella stuttered her head shaking violently as she struggled to make out words.

"Shh," Regan closed Ella's mouth, "don't talk you'll die quicker, you should take in this last moment with me nicely."

"You," Ella growled, she spat blood on Regan, tears rolling down her cheeks, "you… why? Why are you like this?"

"You wanted to leave me, threatened to throw away our memories for a chance to fix yourself, threatened to throw me away because I hurt you and you didn't even try to tell me beforehand," Regan sighed looking down at her dying best friend, "if I couldn't keep my childhood best friend no one else would."

Ella looked up at Regan through hazy eyes, "so you'd rather watch me die?"

"Yes," Regan smiled, "I'd rather I get to be with you in your last moments even if I caused your last moments."

Author's question: Has anybody ever had a bff like Ella, or a relationship that strained overtime because of distance?
