99 Two Full Moons

I pouted.

Where can I get skin as smooth as his?

I chuckled as I pulled his cheeks. A second later I felt strong hands clasp mine. Two emeralds looked into my eyes as a smirk appeared on Baron's face.

"How much longer are you going to continue to tease me, my dear?"

I flushed as I tried to break away from his grasp. He chuckled as he said.

"I guess that I also have the right to touch you. It's only fair after all."

I closed my eyes as I waited for him to touch me. Baron then leaned in and kissed my forehead. I opened my eyes as his smirk widened.

"Oh, are you disappointed that I only kissed your forehead?"

I flushed as my hands flailed.

"Shut up! As if I would be disappointed a.s.shole!"

Baron laughed. It's not fair that he got all the fun. I then pulled the collar of his blouse and placed a light kiss on his lips. My face heated up as I said.

"There. Now we're both even."

Baron touched his lips as his cheeks reddened. He cleared his throat to hide his embarra.s.sment as he turned to face away from me. I laughed.

How cute.

I then sat up and leaned over to see Baron's face filled with shame. He was acting like a schoolgirl who was just kissed for the first time by her crush. Baron noticed me and covered my eyes with his hands.

"Stop looking at me. My wife shouldn't see her husband in such a state."

I laughed and moved his hands. I then kissed the inside of his palms. Baron flushed to the point where I could see smoke coming out of his ears. I laughed. It was fun to tease him in response at times.

"I'll stop teasing you tonight, because your expressions have satisfied me."

Baron sighed shakily as he said.

"That should be my line, Mila."

I chuckled.

"As your "wife", Baron, our roles are not concrete. If you feel sad, embarra.s.sed, or ashamed you are free to show me those sides of yourself. If we continue to be together, I would like to see all the vulnerable, nasty, and good sides of you. Because no matter what I would love them all."

f.u.c.k.

s.h.i.+t.

I just let the word "love" slip. d.a.m.n it.

I heard Baron's chuckle as I covered my face in shame.

"My dear wife, did I just hear a certain four-letter word?"

"Now you didn't, mother f.u.c.ker, it must be the wind."

"Well, if the wind says that it loves me then I love it as well."

"The wind appreciates that and prefers that you just forget what she howled."

Baron laughed as he hugged me close to him. He then whispered.

"I'm sorry but everything that the wind howls is recorded in my mind and saved so that I could replay it again later."

I opened my mouth then shut it again. How the f.u.c.k am I supposed to answer such a smooth and witty retort. Whatever, let's just let him win today. Baron's breath tickled the back of my neck as his large and warm arms circled my waist. I looked up at the night sky to see a large and bright full moon s.h.i.+ne.

The full moon put my mind at ease. Just as I felt my eyelids droop a realization struck me faster than a subway.

Wait a second. Wasn't there a full moon yesterday night as well? That can't be some weird coincidence.

"Baron, wasn't there a full moon yesterday as well?"

Baron opened his eyes and looked up at the sky.

"Hmm. You're right. My wife is quite intelligent."

I pulled out of his embrace and sat up, pus.h.i.+ng away our coats. I felt my heart beat quicken. A full moon only happens once a month, so why did it happen twice this month? And consecutively at that?

I sat up as I felt panic fill me. I turned to see Baron look at me with concern.

"What's wrong Mila?"

"Baron, where is your small pocket watch?"

Baron reached into his coat pocket and threw out the small pocket watch to me. I felt my heart fall to my toes. The watch's small and large hands were frozen on midnight. How long has it been the same day?

"Are you sure your pocket watch is working well Baron?"

Baron nodded as he sat up next to me.

"What's going on Mila?"

I needed to confirm this. I stood up and walked up to where Francois slept. I then reached into his coat pocket and took out his silver watch. The small pocket clock has the same thing as Baron's. it was stuck on midnight. I started to hyperventilate.

Does that mean that time had stopped for exactly twenty-four hours? That's not possible because earlier the sun rose, and set like usual. It must be a phenomenon which had occurred the midnight of this new day. That's why there is a full moon. It's as if time was resetting itself not stopping. Was this due to our proximity to the Bermuda Triangle?

Several legends began to circle in my mind. In my History 241 cla.s.s in college, my teacher stated that there was always the legend that the closer a s.h.i.+p got to the Bermuda Triangle, the weirder the s.h.i.+t that began to happen. Some historians, and explorers of the 1650's noted monsters, time stopping, and weird omens.

Right now, we must be at the first stage of where time has lost its natural flow. We must be closer than I had originally expected. I then walked back to a confused Baron and asked.

"I'm sorry Baron but could I also see your compa.s.s."

Baron handed me the compa.s.s quietly. I chuckled as I saw the compa.s.s go haywire. It was moving crazily as if it were broken. The same thing was true of Francois's compa.s.s.

f.u.c.k.

Holy f.u.c.k.

We are actually stuck in a part of the Ocean where time and direction have gone haywire. Was this some sort of other dimension or something? I looked at Baron and said.

"Baron, we need to wake everyone up now. Right f.u.c.king now."

Baron looked at me with doubt. He sighed before standing up and b.u.t.toning his blouse. He then cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled so that everyone would wake up.

Thirty minutes later, several lamps were s.h.i.+ning as the crew members surrounded me and the other captains. I cleared my throat and said.

"It has come to my attention earlier today that for some reason our pocket clocks and compa.s.ses have either stopped or are going crazy."

I then let the crew members pa.s.sed the compa.s.ses and clocks amongst themselves. Chatter filled the deck as shock reflected itself in everyone's faces. Weston then said.

"Are you sure that these compa.s.ses and clocks aren't just broken or something?"

I shook my head.

"That's what I thought at first, but I have also noticed that there has been a full moon twice in two consecutive days. Astrologically that just isn't possible."

Navius, Baron's navigator nodded.

"I have also noticed the same phenomenon as Captain Mila. There really is something wrong with this whole situation."

Everyone had quieted as the realization of the situation hit them.

Suddenly a scream sounded amongst the maids and servants as they came rus.h.i.+ng out. I stood as the head of the servants, Dana, ran up to me in tears.

"Calm down and tell me what's wrong Dana."

Dana turned and pointed to the left side of the boat.

"That's what's wrong Captain Mila."

I felt my blood turn to ice as I watched appear from the depths of the water. Crew members yelled as a large snakelike creature emerged from the Ocean. The s.h.i.+p teetered back and forth violently from the repercussions. The large snakelike creature was as tall as three school buses stacked on top of each other. Its body was that of a snake, but the head was of a dragon. The silver scales glistened under the moonlight. Despite everyone screaming in fear, I was entranced by the beauty of the creature. It's clear and large blue eyes rested on me as it roared. A sort of icy mist blew out of its mouth instead of fire. Baron yelled out as I walked to the railing of the s.h.i.+p. My legs wobbled as the s.h.i.+p continued to shake. For some reason something was attracting me to the creature. The yells of my crew members fell on deaf ears as I reached my hand out to the creature. My heart beat quickened as I whispered.

"Beautiful."

The creature then pulled back and shot its head towards me quickly. It roared once more. The sound riverboating through my bones and boiling my blood. I closed my eyes as the monster opened its mouth.

"Mila!"

Baron's voice filled my ears as the world turned black.

Was I about to be eaten in my new life?
