148 Insidious 4

"Your master?" Jodye had always been curious about this particular point, but he considered it rude to ask about someone's master if they didn't volunteer the information. After all, if someone asked him about his mother he would instantly raise his guard. Of course, this wasn't entirely due to her being his master.

"I will tell you when the time is right. For now, we need to head back to Blackheart City." Joovee Nile seemed anxious like he couldn't afford to wait around. Jodye nodded and pulled out his serene sound mirror, communicating with Aiken Moon. Less than a breath later, the brat appeared in from of Jodye with a grey-haired woman who still had slight traces of her former beauty. Who was this if not Master Grey Willow? Jodye marveled because Master Grey Willow somehow looked remarkably younger than the previous time he saw her, but he put it out of his mind. Behind her were the now fully recovered Bilan Moon and her aunt Miran.

"Brat, you say you have a way for us to leave this place and bypa.s.s the siege?" Master Grey Willow asked Jodye urgently.

"Hm? What was that, your honor?" Jodye and Joovee both turned to look the old lady in her eyes with surprise. He replied to her, not forgetting to show her due respect as a spiritual master. This etiquette was taught to Jodye by his cousin Hamadi Purple-Sky, "Did you want to return with us?"

Grey Willow became stunned hearing this brat Jodye suddenly become so polite. When she glanced back at her pink-faced martial niece, who had been shyly staring at Jodye from the moment they arrived, Grey Willow felt like she could see through the brat's intentions. Bilan Moon was staring at Jodye's muscular upper body which was always exposed as if it was a s.h.i.+ny jewel. Grey Willow frowned, 'Want to play with my niece with my blessing? Hmph. We'll see what my senior sister has to say about this once I return.'

"This entire territory is surrounded. I am not confident in fighting my way out and protecting my martial-niece at the same time," Grey Willow spoke honestly without hiding anything. These were comrades she had already sided with, after all. "I will not take part in your war for this same reason. However, if you lead us to a place where we can safely retreat, I'll owe you my grat.i.tude."

"Could you safely retreat from Blackheart City when it is under siege?" asked Joovee Nile impatiently. Why was this old woman hara.s.sing them during such a moment? She was lucky Joovee didn't want to lose all decorum and strike her down.

"No, but if you have a temporal dimension transfer device, I can put the coordinates to Star Gazing Forest in it," Grey Willow replied matter-of-factly, ignoring the rude tone of voice this punk Neofrost spoke to her with. She would not benefit from offending him right now as he was technically Jodye's senior. "That way you can directly send us home."

"My apologies, your honor," even if Jodye had five emperor rubies now, he still wasn't willing to waste one on this favor. Unless of course, Bilan was the one who asked instead of this stinky old lady that smelled like tree moss, "My device is special, and has limited use. I can only save it for emergencies."

"I have two king rubies with me," Grey Willow's bracelet flashed with spatial light as two rubies appeared in her hand. If the emperor ruby was the size of a young child's fist, the king ruby in Grey Willow's hand was the size of a slightly smaller rock. Jodye's eyes flashed as he observed these stones, but he didn't speak. He had never heard of a king ruby, so he didn't even know if it would work.

"A King Ruby would definitely work on your temporal dimension device. The only difference is that it will crumble to dust after a single-use, unlike the emperor ruby which can be used three to five times consecutively." Isis Rah interrupted Jodye's thoughts to ease his apprehension. With these words, he was rea.s.sured. Jodye was grateful that his mother was able to communicate with him but felt troubled that she could see everything he did. Once he got older, this would become quite awkward. "Also this little girl, Bilan Moon… don't get any ideas about her. You're still too young for this. Focus on not dying when you see Basalt again."

Jodye frowned as a dark look flashed through his eyes. Grey Willow became vigilant as she saw this darkness in his eyes, 'I knew it! This brat is no different from the company he keeps! All of these Negus from the Northern Motherlands are corrupted!'

"Deal," replied Jodye. Grey Willow's eyes widened in shock. She never thought it would be so easy to convince this sneaky brat. In fact, she antic.i.p.ated having to attack them. However, they didn't try to rob her. Jodye didn't even try to extort anything from her. Grey Willow silently wondered whether she had been wrong about Jodye. However, his next words made her reconsider yet again, "However, I want at least five king rubies or no deal."

"You little s.h.i.+t…" Grey Willow cursed under her breath.

"Martial-aunt Blu!" Bilan Moon felt stunned when she heard her martial-aunt speak so vulgarly.

However, Grey Willow ignored Bilan while sneering at the latter's crush, "Did I not say I only have two king rubies? Don't you think you're being too greedy?"

"Oh please," Joovee Nile interjected upon hearing the old lady's words, "Did you forget that my sworn-brother and I are also masters? Even this brat apprentice of his can see through your lie, do you believe that I cannot?"

Grey Willow was stumped upon hearing those words. Indeed, Spiritual Masters were capable of great feats, such as reading their target's emotions through the fluctuations in spirit. Because Grey Willow was not guarding her spirit, she was easily seen through. Both Jodye and Joovee sneered at her, making Grey Willow gnash her teeth in discontent.

"Fine, you animal," Grey Willow's heart bled as she relented. Five king rubies, ah! She was completely unwilling. Bilan and Miran Moon were unaware of the value of this gemstone so they just watched in curiosity. Grey Willow was unwilling to get caught up in the internal struggles of the north. She wanted to return to Rodinia and the sect as soon as possible. If it wasn't for the interference of the Profound Sea, she would have the brat transfer her directly to the Seven Spirits Sect's dimensional transmission array. "I have with me a total of six king rubies. I need one to return to Rodinia, and one in case of emergency. I will only part with four."

"No dice lady, we want…" Joovee Nile had an evil smile on his face as he was ready to milk every penny off of this cash cow. Bilan, Miran, and even Aiken Moon frowned as they heard him speak.

"Deal." Jodye Trill actually didn't want to make things too difficult for Aiken's family. However, how valuable were astral rubies? He would very likely not find another for a long time to come. How could he let king level rubies escape his grasp after learning they could power his temporal dimension device? Four king rubies and he only had to use one? Today he had received three emperor rubies and three king rubies! This was equal to 12 more dimensional transfers! Such a life-saving card could not be pa.s.sed up, even if others opinion of him decreased.

Master Grey Willow withdrew four king rubies from her spatial gear and tossed them too Jodye who waved his hand to receive them into his own.

Hearing Jodye agreed, Joovee also crossed his arms and closed his eyes. 'What a waste.' He thought. Couldn't they have bled this arrogant old witch dry? Joovee considering teaching Jodye the art of manipulation. Little did he know, Jodye was already leagues ahead of him in that aspect.
