144 Insidious 1

A Zombra descended from the sky into a deserted valley surrounded by fertile mountains in the back and endless desert to the front. This Zombra looked like a four-meter-tall black skeletal horse with flaming wings and mane. Thick death qi covered the valley like several layers of fog. It was as if the moment that any living creature from the fertile lands behind the valley would immediately wither away and die if they came near.

Mounted on the back of this skeletal horse was an infernal powerhouse with ram horns on his head. He had a slightly stocky build and stood at 1.9 meters. His eyes were deep and dark as a bottomless abyss. As the Zombra reached the ground and landed gently, the infernal powerhouse slowly swung his leg around his mount's back and climbed down. There was a ripple on the field and fifty-seven warriors rose up from the shadows of the trees behind the man. The lower half was in pitch-black armor, while the upper half was in white serpent armor. The infernal powerhouse didn't flinch or even bother to look back.

"We greet the Supreme Elder!"

"We greet the Supreme Elder!"

The warriors all called out in a unified voice. The Supreme Elder frowned, his eyes scanning through the crowd. He sensed a familiar qi, and he was still suspicious about whether or not White Serpent Cove would be able to support this attack so early.

As the Supreme Elder considered this, a large black-cloaked man stepped forward from the crowd and spoke, "The preparations are complete, Supreme Elder Kyle. We will be ready to strike in less than a month. We failed to capture Sigma Octanis, and thus, we need your eminence to a.s.sist us. Your presence is a necessary precaution against that Temple Sheppard of Vermillion Bird Temple."

"Mn. I am disappointed Vice-Sect Leader Garuda, but not very surprised. You all are incapable of dealing with an existence on the level of Erykah Maat, all save for one," Supreme Elder Kyle Mercy wore an indifferent face. He quickly recognized this famous fighter of White Serpent Cove, Garuda. He was one of the leaders of this operation on the surface, just like Kyle's late cousin Oulan. However, the Supreme Elder knew better than to believe the Vice-Sect Leaders had any real power in the House. "Luther, why have you not shown yourself? Do you think you can hide from me?"

"Kekeke, who can hide from the Death Missionary Guild's master of shadows? I dare say none," replied Luther White, the Dark Emissary of White Serpent Cove who rescued Garuda. He stepped out of Garuda shadow and slowly walked next to the Supreme Elder of the Death Missionary Guild. This man was known as the master of shadows, and very few have ever seen his authentic appearance. As a shadow-user, Luther had genuine respect for this Supreme Elder of another voodoo sect. Their interests even aligned, allowing them to become acquainted.

"Your cult has hidden its strength even deeper than I thought," Supreme Elder Kyle stroked his earth stubble as he glanced at the fifty-seven warriors behind himself. Surprisingly, there were 20 perfected True Saints, 10 Heaven's Masters, 10 perfected Origin Scientists, 10 Silver Mages, and seven elite level Voodoo Priests. This force was enough to wipe out a White-Bronze Rank Sect. Maybe even a Silver Rank Sect! These numbers only represented a fraction of White Serpent Cove's forces. How were they a mere Silver Rank cult? With these reserves, they had to at least be at the Gold Rank! To Supreme Elder Kyle's shock, he couldn't even see through the power levels of Garuda and that Dark Emissary Luther White.

What did this mean?

The most logical conclusion is that their strengths surpa.s.sed his own! But how could that be? Didn't that mean he would exist only as their cannon fodder during the operation?

"This is how important this operation is to our organization. No failures can be permitted," Luther White spoke candidly.

He would never divulge their real strength as an organization, but he also wouldn't deny that they had employed a strong third of their total powerhouses for this operation.

While they had thousands of lower-level sages, those of the mage rank were incredibly scarce. It was the same for their sinners. "The sinner path is unorthodox and goes against fate as it requires special means to cultivate. We will ma.s.sacre that city in the name of our Cove Master, was.h.i.+ng the streets with rivers of blood. After that, we can release the seal on the Evil Sacrifice Formation, transforming the entire city into power for the Cove Master's attempt to break through to the legendary rank."

"MAGUS LEGEND RANK?!" the supreme elder was stunned. "So the Cove Master himself hid that deeply…"

"This time, our conquest will push our cult and all our supporters to brand new heights!" Luther White claimed with vigor. However, inwardly he sneered. Once their Cove Master achieved that legendary rank, what would be the difference between him and the Left-Hand or Right-Hand of the White Demon? Their branch of the Oblivion G.o.d Cult would also be able to come out of hiding and return and blend into the secular world. Of course, Luther wouldn't tell their "partners" this.

Not only that, but the Cove Master's previous Left-Hand self-sacrificed himself during the last take over. He didn't clear the city before the Evil Sacrifice Formation went active. As a result, he was refined and became part of their master's power. Now the position of Left-Hand of the Cove Master was open once more. Luther was planning to use his contributions this time to aim for a new job. He wasn't so foolish as to seek for the Left-Hand, but once some seated elder adopted that position, wouldn't their seat also become vacant? Luther felt this was an opportunity for him to move up as well and become a seated elder.

"In that case, I'll lead my team to besiege the city again within the next three months. We will convert the enemy into turtles hiding in their sh.e.l.l while waiting for your arrival a week later." the Supreme Elder of the Death Missionary Guild wore a sinister smile. This operation was sure to be successful with this powerful backup. The Supreme Elder no longer had any of the worries he arrived with, "Thank you for meeting with me, Luther."

"You know I had to do it for you," Luther White pearly whites were the only thing visible under his hood. Afterward, he pulled out his messaging crystal, and spoke with pure essence vibrations, "Begin phase one. I want the outer district under our control in 48 hours."
