44 An Invitation

The very next morning, Gray Allister felt his head being heavy as he struggled upon waking up.

Regaining his vision, the Elf now looks confused as he saw the unfamiliar room at where he is at.

"Let's see," Gray muttered to himself as he tries to recall the events that have occurred last night. "I had a drinking contest with Isamu, drank about 4 or maybe 5 mugs of the mead and then… f.u.c.k, I can't really remember that much except loud music coupled with some cheers and shouts."

"This seriously sucks," Gray grumbles under his breath as he clutches his head in slight pain as he currently experiences the hang-over effects of his drunken reveling with the cat-folk.

"But first things first." The Elf said as he eyes his surroundings with wary. "Where the h.e.l.l am I? This is the second time that I wake up in an unfamiliar room, with the first one being at Rarsu's place. I hope this won't be a normal occurrence in the future."

The room is small, too small in fact, kind of similar to Darlene's room back when he spends the night with the Mills family at Oakwood. Aside from the single bed and a tiny cabinet table right beside it, there's really nothing else to see.

He also notices that he is half-naked as well, only dressed in his usual khaki long pants while bare-footed.

As he evaluates his current situation, Gray opens up his Inventory to check if something is stolen from him.

After all, a drunk man is someone that can easily be taken advantage of.

After verifying the contents of his Inventory, Gray sighs in utmost relief seeing that all of his items are currently intact, most especially his valuable G.o.dly items that were granted willingly by the Divines themselves.

Thankfully, the mead was cheap, so his gold was not that drastically lowered that would threaten his current way of living.

Equipping his robes, tunic, and boots, the Elf stood up from the bed in preparation to leave. With him seemingly recovered and ready to go, he departs from the room as he opens the wooden door right in front of him.

Finally, out of the room, his sights now greet him at the familiar interiors of the Fighter's Retreat, with him standing on the second floor of the establishment as he eyed the entire overview of the first floor from above.

As he wonders his eyes around, the Elf saw Isamu sitting at the bar counter having a chat with an old human, the tavern keeper presumably, evident by the man's clothing consisting of a brown ap.r.o.n that covers his white s.h.i.+rt, black pants, and brown shoes.

As Gray descends the staircase to greet the Cat-folk, Isamu and the tavern keeper heard his footsteps as they stop their discussion and set their gazes at the Elf.

"Well, well, look who's finally awake!!" The tavern keeper said with a joyous tone. "If it isn't the Elf from last night's celebration!!"

Gray could only widen his eyes a bit at seeing a man that he does not know addresses him in a familiar manner as the Elf took his seat beside Isamu.

"I believe we have not introduced ourselves formally." The tavern keeper said friendlily. "My name is Herry Oweyn, the proprietor of the Fighter's Retreat. At your service."

Herry Oweyn

Lvl 9:

"Gray Allister." The Elf simply told his name to the tavern keeper with a nod as both of them acquaint themselves with one another.

"Never pictured you for a party man." Gray heard Isamu commenting as the latter smirks playfully. "When you challenged me to a drinking contest, I sincerely a.s.sumed that this will be an easy victory for me. I gave up after four whole mugs while you're still ongoing with your fifth and had no intention of stopping anytime soon!! You certainly are capable of holding your liquor to great amounts, huh."

"And let's not forget the part after your drinking with Isamu," Herry adds into the conversation. "You just went right straight ahead at the center of the stage and suddenly begun dancing with the Bards. By the Divines, even the Bards themselves are amazed by such dance movements never before seen as you performed and exhibit right before our very eyes!! What was the name of that dance again?"

"Ah, I believe he called it, the 'Gangnam Style' while he addresses it in front of the whole crowd." Isamu nods as he recalls it despite being slightly drunk. "And the people here at the tavern are so amazed that they went along with your groove accompanied with the music played by the Bards. The entirety of the tavern all revel at the new dance style together, with you as the esteemed man leading the festivities. Yup, only someone with a high Speech skill can truly pull that off as you influence the locals with your dance, including myself. It's definitely a night that we would never forget, hahaha!!"

"You fulfilled the people's satisfaction with cheers and smiles last night." Herry smiles sincerely at him. "For that, you have my sincere grat.i.tude."

Gray was unmistakably speechless by what they have just said to him, his eyes disbelieving by the absurdity of the act that he has done.

'Wait, I literally did that!?' The Elf thought with utmost disbelief. 'And of all the dance moves that I have learned in my past life, what came into my f.u.c.king mind when I chose the Gangnam style of all things!? Have I doomed this town to unthinkable darkness with one of the crazy antics of K-pop culture?!!'

The Elf certainly was taken aback as he sighed deeply and merely look down in embarra.s.sment with a flushed face.

"Well, to be honest, I was not really in control of myself of my actions that night due to me being greatly intoxicated by Divine knows how many mugs of mead," Gray answers them and then questions. "After all that, what happens next?"

"You kept dancing to your heart's content until simply pa.s.sing out." Herry answers to the Elf. "Isamu and I had to carry you at one of the tavern rooms for you to rest. Don't worry about the rent. After the enjoyment that you provided for all of us, it's free of charge."

"I… see, thank you then." Gray merely replies, still could not get over with the shock about him being drunk that caused him to drastically act in a rather outgoing manner.

Sure, when he's drunk, it may cause him to be extremely extroverted, especially at the parties back at Earth where he would just let go and act all social and unreserved.

But never did he expect that a crazy situation like this would happen, especially in an RPG set in a fantasy-driven world.

"Oh, and before I forget." Herry quickly adds as he brought out a letter from his pocket and gave it to Gray. "The Bards told me that they indeed had a wonderful time being with your presence and asked me to deliver you a message through this note. Sadly, they can't do it themselves as they told me that they have a tight schedule and must depart immediately for Oseginia to perform for an upcoming festival in that town."

Gray nods in acknowledgment as he unfolds the letter and starts to read the contents.

"Dear, Sir Allister

'I suppose I should.' Were Gray's thoughts as he presses YES, seeing no harm in it. 'Maybe there's some rich rewards that await me in the quest. And me being a bard? Sounds kind of interesting in my opinion. I do hope that joining this faction or university will yield me benefits, especially in my Speech skills.'

After everything has settled, Gray and Isamu ordered a bowl of fine hot chicken soup for each of them from Herry to alleviate their hang-over symptoms from last night.

"After our breakfast, we should get going to the guild," Isamu suggested to Gray. "Ethan most probably have returned from his mission yesterday. I also have to report to my superiors for training."

"Good idea." Gray nods in agreement.

And with that, the pair waited for their meal as they continue their chat with Isamu indulging Gray about some of his random adventures and moments of his life.
