41 The Guild Area

After seeing his new friend, Gray leaving the Guild to explore more of what the sights that Chadena has to bring on the table, Isamu, as told by the Elven Guild receptionist Shael, moved to head upstairs to meet with the Guild Master in his office.

As he reached upstairs, there's an entrance to a quaint hallway that harbors many of the rooms that worked as living s.p.a.ces. The whole second level actually serves as the barracks area, as a means to accommodate and house the many Warriors that chose to make the Guild as their home.

Of course, having such convenient benefits ent.i.tles something in return. Any Guild Members regardless of status must pay 210 gold per week to benefit from the board and lodging that the Guild exclusively provides.

As such, for the Guild members who make use of such valuable service, it's imperative that they take contracts or quests from the notice board located on the first floor in order to sustain themselves with both a living quarter and their personal necessities.

Normally, this is not exactly a problem since the contracts are always piling up due to how renowned and reliable the Guild is in the eyes of the general public. The Warriors of the Guild are well-trained and disciplined, known for completing the tasks that are a.s.signed to them with brutal efficiency. Whether it is protecting a caravan en route to another town from lawless bandits, slaying foul unnatural beasts in the outskirts of the town, rescuing a kidnapped individual, or hunting down an escaped criminal. There are also other tasks that make use of the members' other resourceful aspects aside from their fighting skills. The tasks conventionally range from settling a dispute between individuals or groups in town, helping the guards in investigations, or a simple delivery job, usually done by the lowest ranking members of the Guild, the Runts.

In the end, it's not a remarkable issue for the tenants of the Guild as the rewards are usually more than enough to keep them comfortable. The rewards range from a huge amount of Gold, depending on the difficulty of the mission, the lowest at 500, to an item of value that's typically granted by the person who requested the contract.

As a result, the citizens of Chadena can rest easy knowing that such brave and valiant Warriors are merely a few footsteps as they keep a vigilant eye on the whole town.

Of course, the other towns and villages are not an exception as they may also call the Guild for help, via the minor branches of the Guild located in each of the different towns if one wishes to request a contract with them.

Anyways, being at the barracks area, this is not the place where Isamu intends to head over. He proceeded to turn his back from the corridor entrance and make his way to the administrative area, which is located on the fourth floor.

Walking further upstairs, an echoing sound of metals clas.h.i.+ng with one another can now be heard the more Isamu approaches above on the third floor.

Upon arriving on the Guild's third level, seven sparring arenas are seen all over a huge open s.p.a.ce where Warriors of different cla.s.ses are witnessed to be testing each of their mettle and strength in a vigorous training session to hone their way of fighting.

The place is known as the Training Hall, where the Guild Members are free to spend their free time training with one another by means of combat. It is also where the Senior Members of the Guild impart their knowledge and skills in battle to the trainees. If one seeks guidance and instructions in the ways of the Warrior, or simply just want to revel themselves in the heat of battle, then this is the appropriate location to do so.

Despite wanting to spectate more of the sparring that is ensuing, Isamu resisted the urge to do so, since he still has to report to the Guild Master, whose office is located just right above the floor that he is currently standing.

Isamu kept walking as he left the area, now going to the fourth floor of the Guild.

Unlike at the other entrance of the staircase that leads to the upper floor, there's a Guild member, a young brown-haired human with a set of silver plate armor and a huge greatsword strapped on his back is stationed. The reason why there's someone a.s.signed in there is to limit the entry so as not to disturb the Guild Master and other Senior Guild members in their task of managing the entire Guild. Only individuals with strict business with the aforementioned leaders may enter.

Of course, every Guild member knows his name and cla.s.s, being known and one of the imposing figures in the Guild as well as the youngest Senior member, explaining his high level and powerful stats.

Seeing the Cat-folk approaching the stairs, the Guild guard halts and asks him of his intentions above.

"I'm here to see the Guild Master and report him of my mission that was personally a.s.signed by him to me." Isamu states as he pulled out a scroll containing the details of the contract from his inventory and hands it to the guard.

The guard receives the scroll as he opens and reads it. After a few moments, he simply nods as he gave way to the entrance and gestured the Cat-folk to enter.

"Guild Master Malic is currently in his office," Froidan said with a serious tone. "Isamu was it? Ah yes, I believe he has been expecting you. You'd best not delay then."

The Cat-folk Champion nods in response and now advances upstairs.

The fourth level is the area where the Senior and most prominent members of the Guild make their quarters here, including the esteemed Guild Master himself. As such, if one has any business with them, then they have to ask Froidan first before allowing any audience from the leaders of the Guild.

Thankfully, Isamu is permitted to stand at the very spot where they are staying. Being here on some occasions, the Cat-folk knows of the place as he displays no amount of hesitation in marching around the hallway despite being an area that houses one of the top Warriors of the Guild and possibly, all of Whitemoor.

After a few steps of trekking, Isamu finally arrives at his destination, a wooden door that's fitted with a golden head sculpture of a lion being displayed on its center.

Isamu then knocks the door and waits for the Guild Master's response for him to enter.

"You may come in." The Cat-folk hears the familiar voice of the man himself, a calm yet daunting voice that's radiating with the fierceness of the lion, the same mighty creature in the city's insignia that holds a strong symbol in representing Chadena and the Guild.

Isamu did what he was instructed to do so as he slowly opens the door and comes face to face with the Guild Master sitting on his desk.

Despite the Guild Master's esteemed status in the entirety of the Guild, his office can't be said the same. If one could describe it, it's for the lack of a better term, simple as one might not expect.

The office is small, filled with bookshelves that contain various sensitive doc.u.ments, books and scrolls that most likely contain different information about the Guild and other things that's related to his job as a Guild Master.

"You're a sight for sore eyes." The Guild Master said as he meticulously eyed the Cat-folk. "I trust you bring favorable news from the mission I gave you?"

Isamu could not help but feel as if the man's eyes are piercing right in his very soul, an aura of such intimidating power that can break even the strongest of wills.

Since the Cat-folk did fail in his mission by allowing the Bandits to go free, he could only hope that the Guild Master would be lenient with him, despite the Cat-folk's good intentions together with Gray.

Hopefully, things would turn out well for one Isamu Meiyo, current rank: Journeyman of the Warrior's Guild.
