34 Reception Hall

The first thing that the Elf took notice upon entering is a majestic hall that makes most of the inside of the Guild. A long red carpet grace upon the pair down below, emphasizing a clear path for anyone to take which leads to the reception hall right in front.

There are also numerous gray-colored statues on top of their respective pedestals depicting Warrior figures in almost every corner of the place, each made of stone which has been shaped and carved to a.s.semble a perfect three-dimensional shape that represents the said individuals. No expense certainly has been spared to emphasize each bit of the detail especially in their respective armor and weapons being held by the figures. No doubt, the sculptures are only crafted by a master sculptor of no equal, each characteristic and artistic elements poured pa.s.sionately with the blood, heart, and soul.

One statue, in particular, caught Gray's utmost attention as he could not help but be drawn by the figure of a das.h.i.+ng Elven Warrior standing tall and proud. The figure is shown to be male, having long hair and a handsome face. He is equipped with a set of lean plate armor of intricate design and a thin sword with runic patterns engraved in the blade.

"Ah in case you are wondering, the statues that you see all around you represents the previous Guild Masters, the greatest Warriors in history that has ever graced in the whole land of Silverhart." Gray heard Isamu speaking proudly from behind. "But this hero is the most extraordinary of them all. Who you are looking right now is the first-ever Guild Master, the Elven Hero and savior of the Old Era, Nevarath Eilfaren. He is the hero all Warrior, no… all individual regardless of cla.s.s and race aspires to be, the same person who ended the blight of the Demon G.o.d, Xaz'vernok and his infernal conquest of conquering all of the lands."

Gray merely nods in acknowledgment, turning his head below to look at the word inscriptions being depicted on the tablet that's being shown on the statue's pedestal.

[Out of the Old Era, the age before the beginning of the years, arise the most legendary heroic figure, the one who ended Xaz'vernok's terrible darkness that plague the entire land, Nevarath, his very actions inspiring the hearts of future heroes to come.]

Satisfied about learning a piece of this land's history, Gray acknowledges in content as he and Isamu turn to leave the statue but not before the former giving it a final look.

Going about as they delve further inside the Guild, Gray notices in delightful wonder at how the surrounding area is clean and well-maintained, marked by the dedication of the servants in keeping the hallways tidy as well as the orderliness and self-control of the building's occupants with regards to littering.

Throughout the vicinity, Warriors from every background and race are shown to be all around the area, with most of them being gathered at a nearby notice board in an orderly manner somewhere at the left corner, no doubt looking for potential quest or contracts for them to get their hands at.

The peace inside the hall is truly a testament of the Guild's discipline in upholding oneself in their actions, shown by the members' upright posture, regimented upbringing, and proper decorum, akin to the standards set militarily.

Indeed, Gray also observes Isamu beside him showing the same demeanor of stern stiffness, pretty much in contrast to his outgoing personality back when they are outside.

'I guess there are some rules to be followed here.' Were the thoughts of the Elf upon seeing the tranquil setting of the place inside. 'I kind of expected a roughhousing band of mercenaries who enjoys the thrill of fighting the moment when I entered the place, but I guess I was mistaken.'

As they kept on walking and following the carpet's path, the two halted on their steps upon arriving at the reception hall as they find themselves in front of a wooden counter with an attractive Elven woman behind performing the various administrative tasks of the Guild.

Indeed, the Elf could not shy his eyes away from how beautiful said woman is. She has natural long blonde hair with adoring green eyes that anyone could not resist but peer in its absolute enchant. The woman wears a sleeved green dress with gold star ornaments to add to its aestheticism.

"Oh my, it's little Isamu." The Elven woman greets welcomingly at the Cat-folk, obviously in familiar terms with him as depicted by her way of friendly speaking. "Back from the contract, am I correct?"

"Yes, ma'am." The Cat-folk answered with a relaxed smile of his own. "I'm here to report the details to the Guild Master in person."

"I see." The Elven woman nods in understanding as her eyes s.h.i.+fted to the Cat-folk's companion in curiosity. Then she inquires Isamu about the Mage. "And who's this young man accompanying you?"

"This is my new friend, Gray Allister." Isamu happily introduces the Elven Mage. "I had the pleasure of meeting him while on the performance of my mission. He also has some business here in the guild."

"A pleasure, ma'am." Gray bows down his head in respect with a smile.

"Charmed." The woman smirks as she as well introduces herself to Gray. "My name is Shael Tyrvaris, the resident receptionist of the Warrior's Guild."

Immediately after, an intrigued look graces unto her angelic face as something piqued her interest in Gray.

"Gray Allister," Shael utters the Arcanist's name with curiosity. "A Human name if I'm not mistaken. I believe you are raised by a Human parent, am I right to presume?"

"Yes." Gray simply stated stoically in response, a lie fabricated whenever that particular topic comes into the light as to not arouse any further suspicion from the other party.

"Very well then," Shael answers with an understanding look and s.h.i.+fts the nature of the conversation regarding the Arcanist's intentions here in the Guild. "Isamu mentions about you having business with the Guild."

Gray responds in agreement as he tells her about his Quest. "I was told to deliver a letter to one of the Guild members here, a young human by the name of Ethan Mills."

"Ethan Mills. Yes, I do know of the boy." Shael rubs her chin, thinking of the boy's status here in the Guild. In a short while, she suddenly remembers, but her face this time a.s.sumes a grim expression. "Your timing is dreadful then.

"What do you mean?" Gray questions the receptionist with a frown.

"Ethan took a guild contract and departed from the Guild just a few hours ago together with a small group of his fellow guild members to clear out a Spider infested cave somewhere in the west. I'm afraid you have to wait for his return sometime tomorrow I believe." Shael answers him with an apologetic tone.

"c.r.a.p." Gray curses the terrible circ.u.mstances that revolve around his delivery Quest. "Well, no use dwelling on it. I suppose there's nothing I can do for now."

Shael merely nods at the Arcanist and turn her attention once more at the Cat-folk. "If you're looking for Malic, then he's currently secluded inside his office upstairs.

Isamu concurs with utmost appreciation at the Elven woman as he and Gray turn around to leave the reception area.

"Ehehe, I believe that this is where we part ways for now. After all, non-Guild members are strictly not allowed upstairs unless instructed by the Guild Master or senior members." The Cat-folk said as he crosses his arm. "I have to deliver my official report to the Guild Master regarding our endeavors at the Bandit Encampment."

"Will you be in trouble?" Gray asks in concern, seeing how Isamu did fail the Quest because of the Elf's suggestion.

"Nothing I can't handle." Isamu grins at him in a.s.surance. "Guild Master Malic may be strict but he's also a reasonable man. I'll just be at the receiving end of his lectures and after that, it's all a thing of the past."

"Alright then." Gray now smiles at him. "In the meantime, I guess I'll be exploring and kill some time, see what more of the sights that this town has to offer, seeing that Ethan won't be back until tomorrow"

"Yes, you do that." Isamu nods in agreement. "After that, let's meet up at the tavern, the Fighter's Retreat at 7:00 pm for some good ole drinking. You may ask the townsfolk where the tavern is located."

After they all agreed with the things that they are going to do, both of them temporarily disbanded the party, now going to their separate ways.

With that, Gray emerges outside from the Guild as he breathes the scent of fresh air once more, accompanied by the chirping sounds of the birds flying above the horizon.

And speaking of birds, a certain brown sparrow continues its task of snooping around at the Elf, following him as soon as he began leaving the Guild's premises.
