6 Chapter 4 Trial Part 3

The soldiers were all in training, carried the spears, followed by swordsmen, flanked by a.s.sa.s.sins, followed by archers and gun bearers.

Sephiroth felt a headache because there were well trained soldiers in front of him.

Sephiroth then watched as these soldiers defended themselves and moved slowly toward him. Sephiroth knew he had to react before being cornered.

Sephiroth charged the military formation and a bloodbath occurred.

Sephiroth felt like he was facing a wall every time he attacked, he was repulsed and the killers were the most hurtful.

Sephiroth, exhausted after his battle with the dragon and his old enemies, could no longer move after slaughtering the elite soldiers.

Sephiroth kneels on the ground still holding his weapon trying to move because he knew the boss was coming, and it was the most powerful boss because it was the last one.

Sephiroth: "Move! Move! I tell you to move, d.a.m.ned body!"

As Sephiroth tried to move, he heard footsteps coming from the gate in front of him.

In the portal, a shadow was revealed and finally a man wearing full armor, a cape and wearing a silver mask.

The man has long silver hair with two braids and bright red eyes and he had a katana in his right hand.

The man walked toward Sephiroth and stopped in front of him.

Sephiroth looked at him and smiled and said, "Gilgamesh, the s.h.i.+eld of kings."

Gilgamesh unsheathed his katana and impaled Sephiroth.

Sephiroth spit out a mouthful of blood and said, "Hehe, this is my worst wound so far."

Gilgamesh tried to withdraw his sword but he found it stuck and when he looked for why he saw Sephiroth's hand hold the blade.

Sephiroth smiled and said, "Thanks Gilgamesh, you helped me get up."

Sephiroth advanced towards Gilgamesh while being impaled.

Sephiroth saw Gilgamesh release his katana and withdraw but Sephiroth threw himself on him and thrust his sword into his chest.

Sephiroth leaned on Gilgamesh's body to keep from crumbling and spoke to him.

Sephiroth: "Hehe, I bet you did not expect me to put my life on the line to kill Gilgamesh, Cough! Cough !."

While Sephiroth was talking to Gilgamesh, he was spitting blood.

After finis.h.i.+ng speaking, Sephiroth and Gilgamesh collapse. Gilgamesh disappears as blue particles in the wind. Sephiroth is lying on the ground, while the Gilgamesh katana impales in Sephiroth's body also disappears.

Sephiroth: "Oi, conquering king, get me out of there, I want to rest."

Time and s.p.a.ce froze before it broke so that Sephiroth reappeared before the conquering king without any injury or physical fatigue, but Sephiroth was still mentally tired.

The conquering king: "Well play young king, you have succeeded my trial, you showed bravery, strength, and intelligence."

The conquering king: "I give you my part of the lineage."

Sephiroth saw a white light come out of the hand of the conquering king and enter his head, before Sephiroth felt a heat in his head that quickly disappeared.

The conquering king: "I will wait for you on the fifteenth floor."

Sephiroth saw the stairs for the fourth floor appear but he decided to rest before going to challenge the next king.

Sephiroth left his mental world and reappeared in his bed at the orphanage and he fell asleep instantly because of his mental fatigue.

The next day, Sephiroth slept more than usual and spent the rest of the day with Helen and Selene before night fell and had to challenge the fourth floor.

The night Sephiroth entered his mental world and went to the fourth floor.

On the fourth floor was a thin armor with several lengths of a segmented cape draped over his back and wood-shaped extensions on his helmet.

The armor was wearing an elegant crossbow.

Sephiroth: "The fourth king of Lucis, the clever king."

The clever king: "Welcome young king, my lawsuit is an enigma to test your intelligence."

Sephiroth nodded and said, "What's the riddle?"

The Clever King: "Whoever makes me sells me,

Whoever buys me does not use me,

Whoever uses me does not know it.

What am I ?"

Sephiroth began to think and after meditating for a while, he replied, "A coffin."

The clever king: "You have succeeded, a king must always be a clever man and ingenious, you have succeeded my trial, young king."

The evil king gave Sephiroth his lineage and then he disappeared into the air.

Sephiroth rubbed his forehead and decided to climb to challenge the fifth king.

On the fifth floor, there was n.o.body, only a table with a parchment on it.

Sephiroth took the parchment and opened it and inside was written a message from the wandering king.

"h.e.l.lo Sephiroth,

I am the wandering king. You may be wondering why I did not meet you like other kings, well I did it because I think you have to find a treasure, not just do a minor job and get it. Your task is to navigate this constantly evolving labyrinth. Walls and rooms alternate every five hours, you can use anything you want to help you through the maze. If you look to the right, you will see a black stone that contrasts with the normal gray and white stones. Behind this stone are tools that could help you in your task. I will also mention that in this labyrinth, there are some monsters, but I doubt that it is all that you will not be able to manage. In addition, before trying, the walls are indestructible. One last piece of advice, I will wait for you at the end of the labyrinth with your reward. See you later."

"The wandering king."

When Sephiroth finished reading the letter it erupted in flames and burned to ashes. Looking to his right he saw the stone the king mentioned. When he pulled it out, he found a compa.s.s, a blank sheet of parchment paper, a pencil, a knife, a ball of golden string, and a bag to hold it all in. Sephiroth put away all of the items minus the knife and string. When he turned around, he saw a wall and decided to try something. He kicked the wall with a good amount of force, but it did nothing. 'Guess it couldn't be that easy huh?' he thought to himself with a smirk. He grabbed the knife and cut three strips off the string and braided them together. When he saw that his attempt to make rope was successful, he put the rope in his pocket and started walking.

After a while Sephiroth finally found a dead end, he gave a helpless smile and sigh before turning around. It had been three and a half hours since he started. How did he know? Well one of the things he found out when he started his journey is when he first pulled out the compa.s.s when he was a cross road. He found a b.u.t.ton on it and to Sephiroth surprise it turned into a wrist watch and he was able to keep track of time. He also discovered a few other things about the tools the king gave him. First, the parchment, when Sephiroth flips the page up it becomes a notebook with an infinite number of pages. Second, the pencil never runs out of lead or dulls. Third, the knife is the only thing that can mark the walls. Lastly, the ball of string, it never runs out of string. With these discoveries his path through the labyrinth was made much easier due to this. He only came across a few monsters, such as a pack of minotaur, a group of slimes, and a few drakes, you know nothing special. He had been making marks on the corners of halls he had traversed. He had also been leaving a trail of string. Its base is back at the start of the labyrinth. Seeing his first attempt failed Sephiroth decided to finish this before the labyrinth s.h.i.+fted. Turning around he sprinted off, but if anyone else was there they would have only seen an afterimage.

Das.h.i.+ng through the halls Sephiroth was going so fast that his steps were only heard after he had been ten steps further. Left, right, straight, left, right, right, dead end, turn around, left, right, dead end, turn around, straight, straight, left, left, right, right, left, straight, straight, straight, left, right, left, and jackpot! After running for another hour Sephiroth finally found the end of the labyrinth, but he didn't just make a mad dash for because he could sense a Naga hiding on the ceiling ( A naga is a serpentine body creature with a woman's head, but some naga, have the upper female body and the lower serpentine). As he was about to pa.s.s under the creature Sephiroth jumped up and sliced off its head before it could cause any trouble. Seeing that there were no more interruptions and that he only had twenty-five minutes, Sephiroth made his way to the finish at a speed that broke the bricks on the ground. When he reached the end, he saw that there was only a stone door, when he opened the door, he saw a pedestal with a parchment on it. Sephiroth read it and the parchment said.

"h.e.l.lo again Sephiroth,

It's still the wandering king. I wanted to congratulate you on reaching the end in record time. It took a week in Noctis to understand this place. Well, I wanted you to read this because you pa.s.sed my trial, so I will automatically transfer my part of bloodline after you have read this and before you continue. Again, good job and can not wait to see how high you will reach. Remember Sephiroth, a man's journey is never over until he's in his grave, so stay curious. "

"The wandering king."

When Sephiroth had finished reading the letter, he saw it burn like the first and saw that the pedestal shone brightly before a white light came out and entered Sephiroth's head.

After Sephiroth had received the bloodline from the wandering king, he left his mental world and fell asleep.
