4 Life As A Baby

Jiro's constant need to sleep was causing issues for his parents. Akane and Junichiro were both very worried that Jiro would suddenly turn into a Nara. No one else in the clan of the Uchiha were so devoted to the act of sleeping as a baby. His seemingly never ending need for sleep was also causing problems in Fugaku.

Fugaku grew up with Jiro as his perpetual partner. Suddenly having the familiar presence fade was causing him to feel lonely. The constant exposure to dark colors was also exacerbating his loneliness. Baby Fugaku had only one way to express how lonely he was feeling, the ultimate jutsu in the hands of all infants, cry no justu.

Jiro woke to the sound of Fugaku wailing. The cacophony of sound was so deafening that Jiro could feel the beginnings of an urge to cry from his body. Fortunately, the wailing of Fugaku was quickly stopped after his parents entered into the room with the necessary tool to fight off Fugaku's wailing, a baby bottle filled with milk.

Jiro did not know how to feel about his new parents. The first months of being new parents made them seem much more lively, but he did not feel any strong feelings of attachment to them. They were his parents, but they were not his mom and dad. He knew that thanks to them he was in this world, but there was no real bond between them for now.

Jiro realized he was living in an age that wasn't particularly modern yet still technologically advanced in some way. He knew that there were radios and some forms of modern comforts such as a plumbing system, but he saw no benchmarks of major technological revolution such as a mode of transportation like cars. He also noticed that the air smelled very clean and crisp, which was unexpected.

Jiro was finally able to see the outside world today and he was very puzzled. He lived in an age with modern plumbing, but the houses looked distinctly Eastern and rather old fas.h.i.+oned. People did not go around in any kind of vehicles at all, they were just walking into stores or going into markets to buy what was necessary. The weird contrast with seemingly outdated cultures mixed with modern comforts left Jiro in a constant state of confusion.

Jiro noted that the village he lived in was divided into different factions as far as he could tell. His clan, had a fan shaped symbol cut in half with the top half red and the bottom half white. Other clans had symbols too, but certain individuals whether they be from different clans or such, all wore a head band on some place of their body and that headband was carved with a spiral and a small triangular ending. He figured that the symbol carved into their headband showed that everyone in this village were united in some way.

By the time both Jiro and Fugaku were celebrating their first birthday, both boys could walk with ease. Akane noted that Jiro was not as talkative as Fugaku, but his eyes wandered everywhere, catching details from his surroundings. She was happy that Jiro already had traits that would benefit a ninja, but she worried about the look in his eyes. His eyes were too tired and seemingly jaded even though he was a toddler. Akane hoped to invigorate some life into the eyes of Jiro by trying to bring him out more often and it seemed that he certainly enjoyed getting out. Akane also tried to bring more people into the social circle of Jiro and Fugaku by introducing them to the playground in the Uchiha area.

Unfortunately, the efforts of Akane were proven to be useless after Jiro refused to interact with the other kids in the play ground.

"Want to play ninja?"

Jiro looked up from his torturing of the ants to see a little girl dressed in a blue and grey outfit offering to play with him. Jiro observed her and noticed that she was the one chosen to invite him from a larger group of kids including his brother near the other side of the playground. Jiro continued to torture the poor ants after refusing her offer with a curt:

"No"

Fugaku frowned after noticing his brother's lack of partic.i.p.ation with the other kids. He wanted to play with his brother and with the other kids, but Jiro refused to partic.i.p.ate. Fugaku looked back at his brother a couple of times, but he eventually got to playing with the other kids.

After playing with the other kids, Fugaku was tired, but happy. He noticed that Jiro was still messing with the ants and he seemed to be squis.h.i.+ng them with a vengeance and watching as the ants reacted. Fugaku, now curious why Jiro found the ants to be so fascinating walked over.

"Why are you squis.h.i.+ng the ants?"

Jiro looked back at him and Fugaku recoiled slightly in shock. Jiro's eyes seemed to be filled with a very cold wind that was chilling Fugaku more than the winds during winter.

"I'm not squis.h.i.+ng the ants. I'm crippling them to see how the rest would react. Want to know how the rest react?"

Fugaku found himself leaning in forward to find out how the rest of the ants deal with the crippled ants. Jiro looked at him with a sneer forming on his face and whispered:

"The rest of the ants swarm and kill the crippled ant in order to eat it"

Jiro's voice seemed to echo all around and Fugaku found that the only thing clear in front of him was Jiro. The rest of the the surroundings and the background seemed to blur into a colored mess, until the only recognizable image was his brother, but he did not look the same. His eyes seemed to glow with a tinge of red and the rest of his body was covered by a swarm of ants crawling all over him. The crawling black mess was slowly walking towards him and with every footstep, more ants would crawl out. The sky was red, nothing was recognizable, Fugaku was left on his own and...

"Kai!"

Fugaku found himself back in the playground with his mom's warm hand on his shoulder. Her hand seemed to be giving off a warmth that was slowly moving through his whole body. Jiro was staring at him with an unnerving gaze that resembled the gaze of his dad when Fugaku was losing in a match of s.h.i.+ritori. Except, the gaze was much more colder and not as friendly. Fugaku noticed that he was really tired and he began to collapse towards the ground. As Fugkau was falling, Jiro also collapsed and Fugaku saw that the red glow was still remaining near Jiro's eyes.
