644 The Giant Figures Onslaught

Even though we were finally about to bring it down, the hecatoncheirs behaviour has changed! It seems like it has regained its past experiences and techniques at the same time as it recovered its scattered sense of self.

However, its MP is already down to 10 percent.

Aro, Treant! Help create an opportunity somehow!

Its dangerous to directly cross swords with the hecatoncheir in its current state. On top of that, our side has decreased in number since Miia was kicked away. I have no other option but to have Aro and the treant make it fumble somehow, and act on that.

Treant moves to insert himself between the hecatoncheir and me. He then raises his branches, sending out [Woven Armour] in a bid to capture the hecatoncheir. It slides away, sinking into its shadow with [Shadow Dance].

Aros [Dark Sphere] flies towards the hecatoncheirs shadow. It seems that she planned on attacking it with magic again at the point it sank in. But the shadow suddenly shunts to the side and avoids the [Dark Sphere].

In the first place, aiming to time her attack to the start of [Shadow Dance] is difficult. Its necessary for her to predict beforehand when its about to use the skill. Perhaps knowing that she had been aiming for that window, it thought to activate the skill a little faster than usual. In addition, by moving at a high speed before using the skill, it was able to shake off her aim.

From the way it moves and uses its skills, it really is different. The hecatoncheir from before might as well be a completely separate entity.

However, if I can predict where its going to emerge, Ill be able to keep up even with the extreme speed of [Shadow Dance]. Its targeting me. If I rely on that, I can be certain it will appear somewhere that it can leap at me from with [High Jump].

Right below me? Or is that too simple? I should scatter a bunch of [Dimension Claws] in a wide radius, and aim for the moment it leaps out of [Shadow Dance]. On top of dealing some damage if I hit, it should also tamper the assaults momentum.

However, the hecatoncheirs shadow doesnt move towards my feet. Crap, I guessed wrongly!

I look towards the treant. As I do so, I see the huge shadow ascend up his body. It slips through the wall of [Woven Armour] that he set up, and materialises atop him. Then, at the same time, it kicks off him and leaps towards me with [High Jump].

I ready the [Oneiros Raizem] as I yell. However, theres no reply from the hecatoncheir, and theres no hint of it backing down either.

After tracking the hecatoncheir for a short while, Aro shoots off a [Dark Sphere]. The black light hurtles towards it.

Thats great timing. If it reacts with [Exorcising Blade], Ill be able to strike after it has finished its downswing. I hold my sword ready to strike, but the hecatoncheir receives the [Dark Sphere] with its body instead. Cracks appear on the surface of its sculpture-like body, but it pays no heed and comes charging.

Ignoring that, really?!

I swing my greatsword. The hecatoncheir guards from my swing with its blade, and then redirects my swing downwards as if guiding it. Using its greatsword, it slides its sword to the tip of mine and pushes down, forcing me down and it up.

With my greatsword pushed down, I end up tipping forward.

C-challenging it with a sword was a failure! The hecatoncheir is a sword expert. Maybe it wouldve been better if I used a hammer or went barehanded.

New generations Hero, you wont pass!

The hecatoncheir stabs towards my shoulder and abdomen. My scales are pierced, and my flesh is gouged. The hecatoncheir then closes to within hitting distance. Its multiple arms rain down on my jaw and chest.

Strong! An attack only relying on speed wont reach it!

But naturally, you wont be able to avoid this!

I send in a backhand from near point-blank distance. I wanted to smack it to the ground, but then the hecatoncheirs figure vanishes.

A shadow crosses the edge of my vision. And then I notice. Its trying to climb up my body with [Shadow Dance] like it did treant, and gain the higher ground!

I aim the [Oneiros Raizem] upwards as I flip my body around. It clashes with the greatsword that the hecatoncheir swung down.

Is it not valuing its MP?! Both when it ignored Aros attack, and when it forcibly clung to me with [Shadow Dance], it looks like its fixated entirely on taking me down.

With our swords grinding against each other, I kick my rear leg up into the rear of the [Oneiros Raizems] blade. The hecatoncheir is knocked flying away as I fall towards the ground. The ground is where Miia is. If I keep fighting it in the air, Id be cutting Miia out of the fight.

Miia steps next to me as I land on the ground.

Wise decision, Irushikun.

The hecatoncheir lands in front of us. It quickly readies its greatsword at me, and charges towards me.

Its become awfully aggressive against you. Shall we finish it already?

I nod at Miias words. The hecatoncheir only has a minimal amount of MP left. In that regard we were able to create quite the leeway in the first half of the battle. It doesnt seem likely that itll be able to deplete any of our HPs no matter how much it struggles.

The hecatoncheir charges in. Miia and I split to the left and right. The hecatoncheir comes swinging at me with its greatsword without a trace of hesitation, glaring.

Thats too simple!

Miias sharp attack slashes through the hecatoncheirs back. However, the hecatoncheir completely ignores her, and swings its greatsword at me. I try to block with my blade, but it quickly retracts its sword and switches to a thrust.

Just how far is it going to target me!
