Chapter 619

619 Rematch, Primordial Matter

I take out some kesaran-pasaran meat from [Dimension] and eat it with Aro and treant, then look up at the sky. This area is close to where the kesaran-pasarans were, and to where we encountered the origin matter. If I fly around here, the origin matter should reappear.

Lets go.

With Aro and treant on my back, Icheck that theyre ready one last time.

The apophis was weak enough for me to completely control the battle. While theyve been levelling, Ive always been on standby nearby to protect them. The hecatoncheir is terrifyingly strong, but its always possible to run away from, so theres not much risk of death.

But, the origin matter is different. Not only does it have high HP and MP, it has extremely strong magic and crazy powerful wide-area skills. It uses the spammable high-firepower [Dark Ray], the [Dimension Rend] that can only be dodged if I predict it, and the pretty much unavoidable [Big Bang].

By myself, I wouldnt have a chance. Thats why I need Aro and the treant to take on some risk with me. Even if I were able to completely outmanoeuvre the origin matter, it probably still wouldnt be enough. Its an opponent we can only possibly beat by fighting together.

This might well be the most dangerous battle in this Ngai Forest. If were able to defeat the origin matter and free a divine skill holder or two from the [Dark Frozen Prison], it should be possible for us to defeat the hecatoncheir. This battle is the most critical step.

I fly straight up. The giant dark trees that cover the forest fade into the distance below me.

After flying around for a while, I spot a distant black sphere flying towards us. It has a diameter about as long as my total body span, and is covered by thin lines that shift and swirl fluidly.

Its back. Id been wondering if more kesaran-pasarans would appear like last time, but its come alone it seems.

As I thought, its got a crazy status. I close my eyes, control my breathing, then stare at the origin matter.

Ill free you from this place too.

The origin matters surface flows, the lines shifting. Its ready for combat.

Aro, treant! Dont lose focus, not even for a second!

I shout.

The origin matters magic is strong enough to potentially one-shot either of them, even if treant were full size. Worst of all is its [Big Bang], which could kill me instantly if it catches me off guard.

I wracked my brain thinking of a way to deal with [Big Bang], but all I could think of was to do my best to run away before strengthening my defence as much as possible. The wind up time long enough that we should hopefully have enough time to distance ourselves and hunker down like last time. After enduring it, we need to gather ourselves quickly and resume combat. Thats all we can do.

Last time it seemed reluctant to use the costly [Big Bang], but depending on how freely it uses it this time, we could easily be overwhelmed. Normally, the only correct answer would be to never challenge such a bomb-like opponent. But without defeating the origin matter, I have no way of defeating the hecatoncheir.

From the origin matter, a number of black beams shoot towards us.

[Dark Ray] is dangerous. It has range, is rapid fire, and doesnt cost much MP. Its well suited for burying the opponent with overwhelming firepower. In addition, I have to constantly watch out for signs of it being about to use [Dimension Rend].

In order to fight the origin matter, I need some to be able to deal with the massive quantity of [Dark Rays] that it shoots out.

Its difficult for us to attack while also struggling to evade. But its also unrealistic to hope to evade for long enough for it to run out of MP, so well need to attack at some point too. For us to fight the origin matter, we need to carefully create a perfect situation.

I discussed it with Aro and treant, and we came up with a strategy that should let us handle it. At the start, well focus entirely on evasion and wont attack at all. If I were to attack poorly, it could lead to us getting hit by [Dark Ray].

I fly in a circle around the origin matter, gradually spiralling closer. I vary my altitude erratically to avoid the [Dark Rays].

As I get closer, it feels almost as though Im being swallowed by the origin matters strange radiance. If I really was taken in by its [Dark Frozen Prison], it would be over there and then. I wouldnt be freed for hundreds or even thousands of years.

Treant! Do it!

Y-yes, master-dono!

A bright green seed shoots out and is swallowed by the origin matter.

His [Death God Seed] skill should allow us to shave away at its MP to some extent. [Death God Seed] is more effective at closer range, but we cant get very close to it. In addition, the difference in their magic stats is large.

It probably wont do much, but even a small effect should have a decent impact as the battle drags on. The origin matter has high HP and MP and strong recovery abilities, so I expect the battle to last a while.

A second and then a third seed shoots out as I fly around. Its the maximum number of [Death God Seeds] treant can maintain. The origin matter didnt move, so all three hit without problem.

Is it having an effect? They werent sucked into the [Dark Frozen Prison], were they?

I-it felt like it hit.

Treant replies unconfidently.

At any rate, the first stage of our strategy is complete. I begin to fly away from the origin matter while continuing to dodge the [Dark Rays].
